Long overdue review incoming…read more I really like this wine shop. They have another location in Jersey City that i have not been to yet. I have gone to this location more than several times in since 2023 and I have to say, I really do enjoy coming to this shop. It's a tight space, but large enough for the inventory it holds. Everything is clearly labeled and I'm always greeted by the employee on shift. I'm not one to interact with sales associates. I prefer to search on my own, but on the occasion that I have asked for help or accepted their help, it's been well received and useful. They don't chatter at you at all and the prices are fair. They have a wonderful wine tasting on Fridays that I keep saying I'll attend but it hasn't happened yet. They also offer beverages on tap and a limited selection of snacks. For as long as I'm comfortable coming in and out of the store, I will continue to shop here and give them my money.

My problem here is the guys behind the counter are the bland, dull and blah people ever. So when I come with my friend (is a very frequent customer) it be nice if they greeted us. In fact I don't think I've heard any of them say anything beyond what the price is for whatever we throw up on the counter. B&B should change the name to BBGO - buy booze and get out. When you walk in, grab a number from the right-hand side. They'll call your number when it's time to order, and once your food is ready, you'll head to the register on the left to pay. Now, about the food. This place is part deli, part liquor store, part dessert shop, and somehow they also give away random fresh bread. I know that sounds like a lot, but stick with me. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and every sandwich I've had there has been delicious. My personal favorite is the pastrami on rye with coleslaw and Russian dressing, served warm. The pastrami is tender and flavorful, the rye bread is fresh, and the combination of the creamy coleslaw and tangy Russian dressing takes it to another level. It's one of those sandwiches that has you thinking about it long after you've finished eating. The portions are huge & you can easily split one sandwich into two meals or share it with someone else. While the prices are a little higher than what you'd expect from a deli, the quality and portion sizes make it worth every penny. They accept cash and all major credit cards. Sure, in my other review, I say Total Wine has better prices. It's not by much though, and the variety at Kearny Discount is good. It's become my number one alternative if I can't make it to Rivers Edge or West Orange TW. Also, sometimes I don't feel like walking around a warehouse to get one or two things. Staff are friendly like before, and the store is always tidy and organized.

The sales tax in Kearny is crazy (i do not know if it's only for liquor/wine), but I really like this location because they usually have whatever you are looking for in stock. The owners are also friendly people, willing to help with whatever you need. Their prices are easily competitive with other stores, even right in the neighboring areas. Great place for your 'wine down' needs!
