It's Home Goods, I absolutely love the company itself. They always have the cutest unique selection of home decor.
As far as this location goes? That's the reason for the single star.
I shopped here several times before. I won't ever shop here again.
The aisles are always a mess with broken/chipped/dirty merchandise. Items are always misplaced. Despite the chaos, you'll still find cute stuff; I always did.
I am always updating and designing my apartment, as I'm obsessed with interior decorating and design. However, time after time again I gave this location one too many chances in hopes that my experience here would improve. NOPE! it went down the drain even more each time.
The staff here is extremely rude, good luck if you need to ask an employee for help with something. You'll get brushed off and responded to in a rude manner. The female manager is nasty and I absolutely believe the staff here is unhappy and rude because of her. I had an issue with her attempting to charge me double price for an item that didn't have a tag. She asked an employee to bring her another of the item I was buying, he brought something completely different and she proceeded to charge me the price of it, $29.99, anyway. What he brought was double the size and obviously different. I tell her thats not the same item, and the wrong price. She tells me theres no more and this is the price. I told her there were a couple of the same item in the aisle I got it from and even offered to go grab one. She tells me he said there are no more and with a nasty attitude asks "do you want or not"? I said no, not for $29.99 because thats not the same item and the wrong price. Earlier she complained about employees mislabeling items when she told me a flower I was buying was mislabeled and yet here she was making up a price for something I was purchasing. I spent a total of $150 that day. After purchasing my stuff, I went to the isle I got the item from and there were a bunch of them all labeled $11.99. I took 1 to the front and gave it to her showing her that she was trying to charge me more then double for the same thing. Suddenly she was apologizing and being extra "nice" and asked if I still wanted to buy it. Another thing, the line to check out was super long and she took her sweet time ringing up my stuff and even took a personal call during it all. How she's a manager here is beyond me.
Last visit, I bought a really large mirror and asked if I may pick it up later in the day because I had class 'til 8pm (I'm a Brooklyn College graduate student). The girl who I asked responded in the rudest manner saying "we close at 9 you gotta pick it up today otherwise we cant hold it". A simple, yeah sure as long as you can make it before closing doesn't work? The same girl happens to check me out and repeats again you need to come back before we close to pick it up. At that point I should have gotten a refund and never returned.
I came back at 8:15 after class and picked up the mirror. I asked a male associate if i can get a bag, he tells me they don't have bags big enough. Anyone who shops at Home Goods knows their bags are HUGE. I told him theres 2 ft of snow and slush outside I need a bag to cover the bottom. He again says they don't have. I said those bags right there can i get one of those? He says what bags? Are you kidding me??? I have to explain why I need a bag for my expensive purchase when theres puddles of slush and snow outside??? He finally give me a bag I covered one end of the mirror perfectly and requested a 2nd bag for the other corner. Perfect now I don't have to worry about the slush ruining the wood on the corners of my mirror. The fact that I had to deal with this for something so simple is enough for me to never return. Good well trained employees would have asked if I needed bags to cover the bottom on the mirror and even helped wrap it, especially considering the weather conditions. Repulsive attitudes all around. I'll shop elsewhere where customers are welcomed and the management actually wants you to return and spend your money. I honestly can't believe their attitudes in here.
The people who shop at this store are so sweet and great company/ people to shop with and around. It's unfortunate that the staff and management here is so bad that you have to choose somewhere new to buy the things you love. I'll stick to Home Goods in the City and Staten Island, you know where the staff is friendly and helpful like normal people. read more
