Family's been shopping here for over 30+ years. My mother bought some table cloths today that were visibly stained and was refused an exchange. Clerk and store manager were extremely rude and accused her of wanting to exchange old merchandise previously bought (curtains, they said it was the same cloth), despite having the receipt in hand. This despite both her (she speaks limited english) and myself explaining the situation. Beware when doing your shopping here. These guys are crooks, simple as that. Bobby's has probably been around in Flatbush probably longer than I've been alive. I remember venturing here as a small kid because my mother had a friend who lived nearby. We would pick up products here before heading back on the B35 to Sunset Park, where we lived. They have a little bit of everything, and now I noticed they have two stores across the street from each other. I needed an umbrella and decided Bobby's would be a good place to go. I'll be frank; there's nothing fancy or luxurious about this place, but you should find what you need, and for a decent price. Along with the umbrella; I also picked up some Fruit of the Loom boxers. Now, usually at Target for a four pack of the same boxers, the cost is 13.49, here I paid $5.99 for a three pack. The sole caveat, is the boxers are "slightly irregular" in other words, the manufacturers made an error during production and they weren't worthy to be sent to regulars stores (i.e. Target) but i surely don't mind! It's good to see some of the old staples of Old Brooklyn are still around, and haven't become banks, fast food restaurants, large apartment complexes, etc... read more

During most of our trips to Brooklyn, my mom always has to make a stop here for something. When I was younger I didn't see any point in coming here but now that I'm older, I'm more appreciative of what the store has to offer. They have ALOT!! They really do cram stuff in here but if you want to find quality, affordable things to spruce up your home, this is the place. The lines were long but they have several cashiers available. Just across the street from the ever -popular clothing store for guys and gals of all ages is the home goods store of its kind! Stopped in and this location, is much brighter, livelier and modern then its counterpart. Prices are definitely reasonable for the items you're surely looking for--even though you didn't know you were looking for them (I know I'm not the only one) Picked up a six-sided cheese grater for $1.99.. it was interesting fitting it into my luggage but I"m glad I was able to pick it up! I would give this store -5 starts. I had the worst experience of my life yesterday. Please don't give this store your money or business. There are plenty other cheap areas to go go that won't racially profile or treat people rude, especially in this hectic time. Not only are they exceptionally rude, they are racist as well too! Which sucks because the employees too are fellow minorities (Bengali, Paki, Indian, etc.) but feel as through they can treat black/ people who can pass as black in a disgusting manner. I made a purchase on Sunday 01/02/2021 & bought plethora of items, including 2 heavy queen sized bed sheets, toilet paper rock rack, and bathroom rug. The cashier Nasim at station 2R17 was roughly taking items from me & packing them up. I asked if there were more of the rug out on the floor since it was only one and the plastic was ripped up (but still on, slightly being held together), and her response was either buy it or leave it. So I took it hoping to gift it. She proceeded to put everything in a bag roughly and I had asked her to be careful since I don't want any packaging to rip. I even had to ask for an extra bag to put items in and she sucked her teeth at me (wow!) My sister and I go outside and the bag that was heavily packed starts to rip at the bottom and have items (toilet rack) poking through. The bag that had the rug and one bedsheet set was put on top of each other in a stupid way that the plastic wrap and the cardboard plastic came off on one side. Trying to fix it, it came off. I came on Tuesday 01/05/2021 and did some more shopping and checked out with cashier Salin at station 2R14 and told her the situation and she said I could return it. I specified that there was absolutely no wrap on it. But the item was unused otherwise and had the plastic staple thing in place even, she said it's fine and just to being the receipt. So I brought it in on Thursday 01/07/2021 & went to return it. They said go to the front and get the pink slip, I got it for one item and the other, they called up the extremely rude and dismissive section manager for rugs and linen, he took one glance at me and said no. "We don't sell items like this", I said you don't, and relayed the situation that happened above. He basically said not their problem and proceeded to pickup a phone call right in front of me and walk away, even after I kept calling him. I took the item back to the register and returned one, and asked her to please get the actual store manager rather than the section manager who was rude and dismissive. She said Idk who that is (a complete lie). After being frustrated for a while and them all talking about me and laughing the situation I told them I wouldn't move from the line until I had someone assist me. He finally comes back just to say we are not going to take it. I showed him the staples still on it (&tape I added to the side to make sure it doesn't further detach since there is nothing else holding them together). Multiple cashiers are now around the area, and looks at it and mumbled it's not used while giving each other subtle looks basically alluding to me being right. The section manager flips through it and looks at it in a rough manner, detaching the staples completely. Puts it back all over the counter making it dirty and gives me the biggest attitude ever and said they wasn't going to take it back (WHILE IT WAS STILL NEW AND NOTHING WRONG WITH AT ALL), I told them maybe if they didn't have rude ass cashiers helping shoppers, the plastic wouldn't have come off, especially if I had asked her in the first place to put it in its own and separate bag to prevent this. They then decide to CALL THE COPS ON ME!! Literally for no reason. Calling the cops on a POC, during this time. So fucking senseless and tone deaf. Over a $15 rug. Cops came, said that they saw on camera that I did buy a bunch of items and the rug included, so they knew I didn't steal it (I can't believe theft was even brought up even though the manager looked at the camera as well), and the cops said the plastic wrap die the rug was very ripped and falling and they saw the plastic on the camera slightly detached from the item, but still attached at that moment. And since I bought it there's nothing they can do about it. They told me to relax and don't get worked up, & that they don't want to do anything. They advised me to call 311 to make a complain which I already did. I still haven't relieved my refund for an item that has never been used, with packaging I bought with the plastic all ripped up, that they choose to pull apart roughly when "inspecting", just to say in the end wasn't attached at all read more

I've been in my current hood for about a year and a half now. I spent the first twelve months meaning to check this place out, and the next six months squandering half of my paycheck here on $15 floor rugs and $2 picture frames. Bobby's provides a stark and refreshing respite from the Williams-Sonoma's and Pottery Barn's of the world, providing brightly colored bowl sets for $4 and button-studded couch pillows for a buck fifty. However, Bobby's certainly isn't for everyone, and it takes a special kind of thrifty to pick out the gems. But for people who love a good bargain and have that "garage sale" mentality -- this is a good place to go. read more

Never heard of this store before I stumbled across one in Brooklyn. One thing is for sure that from this day forward I'll be on the lookout for one ! This place was awesome!!!!!!! What's not to love about bargain prices, good selection, and a vast inventory? This store actually was made up of two stores; the housewares and linens on one side of the street and clothes/shoes housed in another building directly across the street. The housewares store was by far my favorite and had me brainstorming all kinds of ways to drag back all the things I wanted on the subway and Amtrak ride home. Sadly I left empty handed but had I had my car it would have been a different story. The upstairs consisted of kitchen items, small appliances, dishes, and organizational items. The downstairs was where the magic happened. Bin after bin of cheap linens, from curtains to sheet sets to curtain rods. Many of the styles I have never seen before (beaded or string curtains anyone?) and certainly not at those prices. Of course quality *may* be an issue since everything was in packaging and you couldn't really feel the fabric, but for those prices it's worth the chance. Across the street at the clothing store I wasn't as impressed, at least not by the upstairs. Mounds of clothes sat in bins and you had to dig thru the pile of assorted sizes, colors, and styles to find what you were looking for. On the hunt for a sweatshirt that day I found one in my size only to pull it out and feel like something was in the pocket. Low and behold a condom wrapped condom was inside the pocket of a "new" sweatshirt. That really got me wondering.....where have these clothes been? Needless to say that one remained in the pile to be "discovered" by someone else. Downstairs was more organized and less chaotic and consisted of children's clothing of all sizes + shoes and hair accessories. From what I could tell the quality was consistent to Walmart or Kmart and was displayed in the same manner by size and style. Customer service at both stores were non existent. While the clothes store was a miss with me the housewares side has my heart. read more

I am all for a bargain. I am all for sifting through a boat load of bargains to find the one that has the greatest appeal to me. After multiple experiences at this establishment the old "Gem" Store back in Bushwick seemed like a bona-fide department store quality option-so I am not all for Bobby's. In terms of homewares (seafoam green toilet seat cover? maroon shag rug to place in the entry way?) there are a lot of options, and they are substantially cheaper than even the bargain homestores on flatbush. The process of finding what you want in the midst of this chaos can be daunting but probably satisfying if you don't desire a modern look. Paper goods and hygiene products are not cheap enough to warrant walking into this mess though-you can pay 50 cents more and go across the street to the pharmacy with clean organized aisles and brand names you recognize and be done with it. The one in flatbush has two stores across the street from each other. One consist of clothing items for adults and on the lower level for children. This has been around for quite some time. I always get good thing in here from my being 5 years old to now being 18 on the verge of 19. A long time shopper. The only downside is when you see something, you have to get it because if you say next time, it wont be there. And the other downside is the crowds. Never go on the weekend. Youll hear "Excuse Me" Excuss em" (Creole) every dang minute. I go during the week or midday when i got time. Can be a little cluttered but its not bad. This store inventory is wonderful. It is a staple in the nyc caribbean community to have a Bobby's. They have everything you need in terms of house items, decorations, forks knives, etc. You name it they have it. Customer service is okay. Once I was asking for a specific item and i didn't get told the right answer therefore i had to walk from store to store until i found an answer.( I didn't mention that there are two stores across the street from one another huh.) I was upset that i had to walk around because It takes a while to have to look through the inventory until you find what you need. If you aren't sure the staff may help you it really is a gamble. Beware that you have to drop your bags off in the front of the store where they hold it for you until your shopping trip is over. It annoys me so much. Not only that though when you look at your bag you will see that it is sealed up so securely that you can't just reach into your bag and take your your merchandise but you need to rip open this bag and get your items. Another grievance: why is the store so overwhelming. The layout is so stressful that i don't really go in often. Don't say someone didn't warn yah! I went there today and unfortunately lost my debit card while shopping in there, I had a pile of things to purchase. Tried to shop here an hour ago and was not allowed to use my own recycled cloth bag for purchases. The store policy is that all customer must use their plastic bags. WTF?! Sooo trying to keep my community litter free from all these plastic bags is non-negotiable?? After speaking to the manager I told him you just lost a customer because of this insane policy. I can appreciate the value of Bobby's, but there are some things that don't sit well with me: Although the majority of people who shop here are Black, you will never see a Black person on the register; guess they don't trust them with the money. Now, the security detail, charged with PREVENTING THEFT, are all Black; guess they're banking on that fear folks have of Black men, and the perception that they're in a better position to be brutes with the public. This store has been completely renovated and expanded in the past 2 years. It is huge and has great deals on lots of stuff. When manufacturers who make products for Macy's, target, etc have excess product from a run they often sell it at a close out store like this one under a no-name brand name. I have seen the exact same towels for example here that are sold at Target under Nate Berkus brand. They have an extensive linens dept and great curtain dept at low prices. I've bought beautiful cotton sateen pillow cases here for a few dollars and curtains for my den. Across the street at location 2 they sell clothing for the family. I mostly went her for undies, socks and the occasional summer dress. I have been buying icu reading glasses here( sold in whole foods stores) for a dollar, yes, $1.00, a buck. I always lose glasses or sit on them so this has been an optimal find for me. They have decent drugstore brand sunglasses too. Please don't listen to people who don't even live here? If you need little odds and ends for your home Bobbys is great. I picked up an over the door coat rack for like $9, same one was on amazon for $15. I needed a bundt pan, $4. I needed some hangers, $2. Prices are generally better than the $1 store next door. It's a great resource when looking for ok quality goods in a pinch. read more
