I also believed that you said you would be responsible for everything from A to Z, but I was very surprised when he said that someone else would have to be paid to fix the damage he caused without properly checking first. Honestly, this was a complete rip-off. I will be leaving a Google review detailing everything that happened and filing a complaint with the BBB. If necessary, I will also pursue this in small claims court and let them decide. I truly did not expect this kind of experience.

Also said that he took his deceased wife's grandmother in to live with him as she didn't have a place to stay. Then proceeded to tell me he needed another advance of $1400 to go back to the job. I ended up calling the Avon IN cops to see what his public record is. No record of a car crash in Camby in February with a mother and two children passing. Public record for anyone that wants to get info on some other things he has done. Do your research!!!! Anyway - gave him a second chance and sent him $100. No show at the job again. However, the basement was not finished, but had rough-in plumbing installed. We were looking for someone to finish the basement (4 rooms total), including adding an additional bedroom with closet and full bathroom. This included all electrical, plumbing, framing, drywall, door installation, flooring, trim, and painting. Mike was quick to respond to my original inquiry, come check out the space, and provide a quote. He was timely, friendly, and easy to collaborate with. We changed our mind a few times on final design - we appreciate how patient he was with us while we narrowed in on the final plan. The final quote was very detailed and he provided helpful information on the areas for potential cost increase (given that the home is old and there could have been unexpected things identified after work begun). This helped us set our expectations for the project. During the project, he kept us up to date on progress or concerns and kept the area very clean (ensuring very little debris made its way outside the basement into our home). He managed all of the subcontractors (electric, plumbing, carpet, etc) so we didn't need to worry about a thing. Made it super easy by having one point of contact! His work speaks for itself. There were a lot of difficult aspects of the basement to figure out (i.e. uneven walls and ceilings, tricky vents or pipes along the ceiling, water/electrical shutoffs needing to be accessible, etc), but he managed to turn the space into exactly what we were looking for. The attention to detail makes all the difference! In the end, the project took about two months (including carpet installation) and final cost was in line with the estimate.
