We're new to Indiana and desperately needed someone reliable
to help us recover from a flood in our home. We found Gordie through some great reviews online. He sure lived up to them.
We had a HUGE and LONG project-- due to holdups with Insurance.
They were deflecting responsibility and claiming they didn't have to pay for the extensive damage to our home after a small dishwasher leak
was "fixed and dried out" by the mitigation company--
only they then left a hot water valve open, leaking
unattended for days while we were out of town.
Insurance was pointing fingers at mitigation and
mitigation wouldn't take responsibility.
Gordie inspected after the mitigation company told us things were "dry" and had his contact from another company, come to verify, because it didn't look dry to him.
Sure enough, Gordie was right.
The mitigation company had left it wet and mold was spreading all over.
Gordie went way beyond what I believe many other contractors would do.
Insurance kept denying responsibility but Gordie stuck with us
patiently, even attending meetings with the Insurance company and
answering endless questions and calls from our adjuster.
He repeatedly came to our defense--bringing up standards and protocol-- things we didn't know--that made a huge
difference with getting our claim finally settled and paid 100% by Insurance.
Gordie's expertise and willingness to help (even when he hadn't yet been paid a dime!) told us a lot about his character.
It was a stressful 7 1/2 months to say the least. So Gordie and
his team member, Emily's patience, help and coming to our defense
when we were facing the Insurance company helped us
immensely.
Insurance drama had left us with no kitchen for those 7 1/2 months.
So when insurance finally gave the green light, we were thankful that Gordie's team started the next day and finished the project on schedule--even after we'd had to put them in a holding pattern for months.
The Trim It Up team works together like a big family, filled with honest, hard working people who I was happy to have in and out of my home for 7+ months.
We also hired Trim It Up to create an apartment for my in-laws, on the main level of our home. My Mother in Law had Alzheimers and we needed her unique needs to be met, as we converted a chunk of our living space to their full apartment.
Gordie and Emily came over numerous times, working through our changing ideas.
They'd come over-- walking the space as we discussed our vision, taking notes, brainstorming and sketching.
And though it seemed at first that our ideas were unrealistic,
they had creative vision to create a beautiful apartment
for my in-laws. They also helped figure out a way that my own family of 4 could retain our need for privacy while we helped care for my husband's Mom.
Once work began on the apartment, they were so thoughtful with scheduling times to work,
that accommodated Mom's special needs.
We were so touched, when Gordie's wife brought flowers after my Mother In Law passed away.
Everyone treated us so kindly, even volunteering to pause construction, the night she passed, to give us some alone time--ready to pick back up, as soon as we were ready.
I have already referred Trim It Up to my Mom (who has been happy with them too).
