The pepper pork stomach soup barely had any pepper flavor at all. The salted egg yolk fried chicken wings were nothing like what I expected and were very disappointing. The Couple's Slices (夫妻肺片) weren't even spicy. And the stir-fried dish was honestly one of the worst dishes I've had. There was more celery than meat, and I honestly don't even know how to describe it. It was just really disappointing.

Soft opening sign in front of restaurant and also a help wanted sign! So go apply my if you are in need of a new job! Was looking for caterer for daughters party and came upon this place on Yelp! Thanks Yelp. Ordered to go on their handy dandy kiosk by the entrance. Once you're done, show cashier so they know who the meal is going to. As food trial to see if we liked it, only ordered a small chow mien and a few fruit drinks. Daughter liked the chow mein, also ordered a strawberry juice and I got the passion fruit sine was a special. - parking no issues -member card for where you put $500 or $1000 and you receive discount and bonuses

Was looking for a place to pick up dinner and was craving Chinese food. This place was super close to my house and new so I decided to give it a try. I ordered online for pick up, which was easy and convenient. I ordered the combo, which came with orange chicken, broccoli, white rice, and wonton chips. I also ordered a side of dumplings. I went to pick up my food and it was so much food for $20. Enough for 2 meals. The food got the job done but some areas can be improved. The orange chicken was good but there was a lot of breaded pieces and skinny chicken pieces. The wonton chips were terrible. They added a dusting of 5 spice to them and it was just plain gross to me so I tossed them out. I'm used to having them plain. The dumplings were okay, they were just heavily seasoned and salty. They gave me an order of sesame balls for free, which was nice. They were good, just too heavy for my taste. The only positive about the food was the broccoli. It was so damn good. It's literally just broccoli but they sautéed it in SOMETHING (oyster sauce? Soy sauce?), which made it taste very savory. Probably the best broccoli I've ever had at a Chinese restaurant. The plate fed me for 2 days so I did not have to worry about dinner for the next day. I don't really see myself coming here in the future. Too many shortcomings for me... except for that broccoli. So good.

We came by on a Friday evening around 6PM and there was no wait time. It's quite a large restaurant with a casual dining atmosphere. The parking lot gets a little tight, but there's lot of parking space so you can park further for more space. We ordered quite a few dishes and enjoyed them, we ordered: - 2 beef rolls(my parents recommendation) - Mongolian beef - Stewed Pork bons - 2 White rice - Cold dish(pig ears, beef/pork) - Calamari drink(complimentary) Everything here is flavored super well, it'll make you thirsty afterwards, so make sure you drink lots of water and pair it with white rice! The food is good and comes out quickly. The staff were also very attentive and we enjoyed out food. We spent roughly $80 between 4 people and had leftovers.

So happy to find that Home Eat is slowly making its way up towards the East Bay! Stopped by for takeout and ordered my favorite Classic Wings, Pig Ears, and Chow Fun. Called my order in and they said it would only take 10-15 minutes! Super speedy. Before I got there, I even got a text that my order was ready as well. During pickup is when I ordered the pig ears, after a certain time their cold dishes go on sale so I usually get a split container of pig ears and cold potatoes. The chicken was delicious and super saucy as always. The noodle serving was huge, I was definitely not expecting it to be overflowing with noodles and it was seasoned well. Not too salty, not too bland. They used wider noodles that almost reminded me of Ho Fun vs Chow Fun. I'll definitely be back to dine in here, they have a very spacious and bright seating area.

I'd heard about this restaurant from other people, but I had no idea it had opened so close to my home. The friendly service, grand opening specials, clean dining environment, and fast, well-organized food service all made for a great experience. I ordered the dry-fried beef chow fun and the pork and napa cabbage dumplings. The beef in the chow fun was especially delicious, and the overall flavor was excellent. The dumplings had a thicker wrapper, which is ideal for people who enjoy a heartier dumpling skin. There was plenty of free parking, making it very convenient. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone living in Union City.

Usually order take-out instead of dining in at Home Eats. The flavors were well-balanced, and the portion sizes are generous. Service was friendly, professional, and efficient.

Another great meal at UC Home Eats. Ordered the combination chow mein, beef wrap and lamb pot this time around. Recognition to servers - Joel and Joseph on being prompt and attentive. The rest of team was also providing great service to other customers has they came in.

Simple, no frills decor - but the food is on point. You can order via a paper menu or QR code. We got the cumin lamb combo served with rice, broccoli and some crunchy wonton chips and the Tidu shrimp pot. Both dishes were well spiced and flavored. The lamb was just melt in your mouth perfect. They also had some specials and an array of cold appetizers which looked interesting, but we were more than full with the two dishes we ordered. We will look forward to returning here with friends to sample more of their offerings!

Soft opening, so expect a few service hiccups here and there. That's pretty normal. Overall though, they seem to have enough staff around to answer questions and help out when needed. The menu can feel a little overwhelming at first. There are quite a few options and I found myself staring at it longer than I care to admit. One thing I really like about HomeEats is their monthly specials. They rotate dishes regularly and usually offer discounts on them too. Every time I see those specials, I hear Oprah in my head saying, "You get a discount! You get a discount! Everybody gets a discount!" I actually first visited HomeEats about a month ago and have been back a couple more times since then. Why did it take me so long to write a review? Well, I like to give a restaurant more than one chance before sharing my thoughts. Just like the rest of us, restaurants have good days and not so good days. One visit can be luck. Multiple visits tell the real story. After several visits, I can honestly say HomeEats has become one of my favorite spots for Chinese food. Do they serve everything imaginable? No. But they serve enough dishes that keep me wanting to come back. And if you enjoy spicy food, even better. Their spicy dishes don't just wake up your taste buds. They wake up your entire face. On my first visit, I stopped by for a quick Friday lunch with Da Boss, also known as my wife and the person who manages both the household budget and my life decisions. I ordered the Beef Noodle Soup with Pickled Vegetables while Da Boss ordered the Yunnan Rice Noodle Soup with Pork and Pickled Cabbage. We also shared the Sweet and Spicy Chicken Wings and the Beef Wrap, which in my opinion is one of those classic Taiwanese comfort foods you just have to order. The noodle soups were excellent. Lots of flavor, generous portions, and noodles cooked exactly how I like them with a little bite left in them. Honestly, the bowl was so large it could probably feed one adult and a teenager who claims they're "still hungry" after dinner. Since then, we've also tried the Mapo Tofu, General Tso Chicken, Orange Chicken, Eggplant with Green Beans, Tianjin Eggplant, and several other dishes that I unfortunately cannot remember because my family demolished them faster than a Slurpee on a hot summer day. As a family of four with two growing kids, food doesn't stay on the table very long around here. Overall, the food has been consistently delicious. The eggplant dishes deserve a special shoutout. If HomeEats ever opens an Eggplant Fan Club, I might accidentally become a founding member. The Beef Wrap was another favorite. Tender slices of beef, fresh cilantro, onions, savory sweet sauce, all wrapped inside a soft flatbread that can be slightly crispy if you catch it fresh from the kitchen. Every bite just works. Now, for a small warning. We ordered three spicy dishes during our visits: Mapo Tofu, General Tso Chicken, and the Sweet and Spicy Wings. I didn't ask for extra spice, and I didn't make any modifications. For someone who enjoys spicy food and can handle a decent amount of heat, HomeEats' normal spice level is surprisingly serious. This isn't the kind of spice that politely introduces itself. This is the kind of spice that walks into your house, takes off its shoes, sits on your couch, and starts asking what's for dessert. So if you're sensitive to spicy food, you may want to ask for a milder version. Your taste buds will appreciate the heads up. Overall, HomeEats has earned a spot in our regular dining rotation. The food is flavorful, portions are generous, and the monthly specials give us a reason to keep coming back. And honestly, with today's economy, any restaurant willing to feed my family well while helping me save a few bucks is already doing something right. Looking forward to seeing what shows up on next month's special menu.

Salt and pepper fish filet
Chin B.

Ordered a few items from the monthly special menu: chicken wings, General Tso's chicken, and the combination chow mein. Also ordered the salt and pepper fish filet. All the dishes came out super fast. Three of dishes were already on the table by the time I came back from the condiment/sauce bar. The last dish, the wings, came out only minutes later. Everything was delicious. We will definitely return.

great value hotpot but no frills…read more negatives: you're told to grab your own bowls, you're given a bunch of chopsticks to use for everything,we were seated at a table with a chair missing, and there was a super loud grating sound during our meal. the bar doesn't seem to have much good stuff so we just opted to eat from the flavorful broth. when being refilled for broth the servers don't even pretend to protect you from splashback. it's nothing bad but just not attentive compared to the typical flashy hotpot places. positive: food and price! the chicken cordycep soup was very very good, and the meats were all fresh and really worth it with bogo. the best one was short rib, the wagyu was ok, and the premium beef was very tough. the cuts were big and pretty thick though. beef tripe was a literal MOUNTAIN but didn't taste super clean - good enough especially for the price. in the photo, we already ate half of it. i didn't like the enoki mushroom because it had a little bit of an rice wine alcohol taste (like to preserve probably).

Happy to see a restaurant that allows dogs indoors !! So rare…read more I enjoyed the options at the sauce/snack bar but it's an additional charge . Includes fruit (watermelon & wintermelon), jelly desserts, and snacks like peanuts, seaweed, and pickled veggies. We opted for a half&half hotpot (the spicy butter & mushroom). They had a buy 1 get 1 free option for meat orders which was nice. Meat seemed fine. However all of us (party of 3) ended up with stomach issues and diarrhea after our meal. Not sure if the spice was just too overpowering or if something was off. This is definitely not my first rodeo of having spicy hotpot and I have never gotten diarrhea afterwards so I'm leaning more towards something being off here. I didn't notice anything but my friends both commented on a weird smell or taste with our spicy broth. Probably won't be back unless I have a doggo with me. Love the decor inside, you're transported back in time to imagery from the 80s , Chinese stars and anime.

Great hot pot experience with reasonable prices. The cost is better than ones in San Francisco…read more Choices of seafood meats and vegetables are extremely excellent. The reduction of broth from choices of broth with residual soup is filling. Dessert are very traditional Chinese food. Staff were very attentive. Bang for the buck. Choices of sake beer and drinks are all good. Enjoy your meals.

For over a year I have had this place bookmarked. Menu looks appeasing and they have foods I…read moretypically would like. So why not a 5 starer? I came in on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. My first thought was, it is quiet! there was only 1 other table at noon... regardless, I continued. It took me a few minutes before anyone noticed us since there was no one at the front desk.. When I finally got the attention of someone, auntie seemed a little annoyed and short. But everyone has their bad days, so despite the lack of enthusiasum we continued our journery for lunch. We opted for the "ultimate" menu which was $38.99/person. But I love my Wagyu's so why not.. They have a large open buffet style section which you pick your veggies, seafood, and tofu from in addition to some random side dishes and sushi rolls. The buffet section was okay.. non-premium options and are typically known as the basic cheaper options at other hot pot places. They didnt even have beef meatballs! Soup/broth options seemed limited. While they had a few, I was thrown off to know they upcharge on everything including if you want a split broth. I mean, the pot itself is quite small already.. Are you really using that much more soup? But the broth was fine. It was flavorful and did its job. I got the tonkotsu and miso base. I did like that they let you order 5 orders of meat at a time. We ordered all the premiums of course. But sadly, they were not that great of quality in my opinion. Wagyu's were chewy and stringy.. For $40 a person, I expect the quality to be a little better especially if other areas are lacking. But they did have an extensive menu which was nice. Lastly, they have a ton of signs.... Most of it letting you know of additional charges or upcharges... Not the most inviting. Probably will not be returning which is a bummer.
