I actually tracked down this place to pick up some citric acid for home made elderflower cordial, since I couldn't find any in the supermarket - but most people who shop here are, of course, home brewers.
The alleyway leading to this tiny, hidden shop is just next to Café Crème, on Keynsham's High Street. Look out for the red sign saying 'Homebrew Centre' and you're almost there.
The staff are hugely knowledgeable about everything to do with home brewing, whether you need advice about brewing equipment, ingredients or methods.
They also stock just about everything you could imagine for making cider, beer, wine or spirits. Special starter kits would suit those who are new to home brewing, containing everything you need to get started without spending a fortune, while for more advanced brewers there's a whole range of high quality equipment from funnels and fermenters to taps and acid testing kits.
Most of it was completely alien to me, but I did end up having quite a long conversation about home brewing - and the staff are so enthusiastic about it that I almost found myself buying a starter kit, even though I was only shopping for a tiny tub of citric acid! read more
