I'm usually a cider person but every now and again (usually the morning after the cider fuelled night before) I just cannot stomach the thought of cider (though Bath Ales do make a delicious cider now, called Bounders methinks) so opt for ale. And other than the gorgeous Innis and Gunn, my ale of choice is Bath Ales. Gem is the nicest, it's smooth and light and extremely morish but the darker Wild Hare and the seasonal Festive Ale is just as nice, just for a different mood. You'll find a sprinkling of Bath Ale pubs across Bristol and Bath and these are a welcome addition to the nightlife scene but thankfully, loads of other pubs in the area serve Bath Ale and they now appear to have a deal with some of the larger supermarkets where you can often find Bath Ales in the three for £4 offer.
