It's a simple concept, everything on sale either costs a pound, or is two for a pound etc (should really be 98p following the VAT cut but 98pland doesn't have the same ring to it). There's a bit of everything from batteries to toiletries and stationary to food. Mostly it's reasonable quality and you'll find a few well known brands mixed in. Worth a look if you're passing, you'll more than likely find something you need and it won't cost the earth.

There are some good deals…read moreto be had which aren't rubbish, but by the same token there are a few items there on sale at £1 each which are quite a bit less in other stores, such as Asda in Llandudno, and especially Home Bargains in Colwyn Bay (which I find is excellent value for money, and is always busy and well stocked). On occasions the staff in Poundland Llandudno aren't too friendly or responsive to Hello at times as well, which to a customer is a bit off-putting and insulting. They tend to treat you like cattle passing through a disinfectant dip. I have to disagree that Poundworld in Colwyn Bay sells a lot of junk ~ I've been there on occasions and there are a lot of good bargains, though again some more expensive than the stores mentioned above, and as it sells similar items to Poundland Llandudno the"junk" comment reflects on both stores unfairly. At £1, no-one expects the same quality as £10 £15 but most items will suffice very well in the short term. It comes down to common sense and most shoppers have a good amount of that these days!

I buy quite a lot of books but rarely from the Pier Bookshop. There are several reasons for this,…read moreperhaps the most obvious being that the shop is only open for half the year. It's also a bit out of the way compared to other bookshops in town and because of this it's easy to forget it's even there. If you do manage to remember to go there then you might find a bargain or two but often they have the same books you'll find for the same price in Bookwise or Publishers Book Clearance. Finally you'll often find the books are a bit weathered, clearly the sea breezes and salty atmosphere have an effect on paper. It's still worth the odd browse though.

It's swings and roundabouts time on Mostyn Street as Millets closes down and Trespass opens selling…read morea similar range of outdoor clothing and camping accessories. It's a nice, bright shiny shop but I found it a bit expensive. The first display on entering the shop was a rack of t-shirts which were on a buy one get one free offer. Sounds good except that the t-shirts were £23 each. There are places in Llandudno where you can buy four perfectly adequate t-shirts for that price so unless you have a real deisre to have the word Trespass emblazoned across your chest I'd look elsewhere for casual clothing or at least wait for the sales to start.

The big plus was the friendly staff who always made you feel welcome although there was one lady who seemed to live her life in slow motion. A few years ago I found myself working in Craig-y-Don and at the time I was selling off some old…read morejunk on E-Bay. This meant regular lunchtime trips to the post office to post packages and parcels. The existing Craig-y-Don post office had just closed so this meant hiking to the main office in town. I hated it because of the long queues and the annoying requirement for the staff to have to try to sell me some financial product I didn't want everytime I went there. Then a new Craig-y-Don branch was opened in the Chocolate Box which is a convienience store/newsagents. Not only did this avoid the need for hikes to town but no more long queues and most important I could post my parcels without the clerk trying to flog me car insurance. As an added plus you can also buy a hot pie on the way out!

this is the newsagent near where i grew up, the guy who runs it is very funny. he used to look at…read moreme fuunny and pull faces. the place is more of a newsagent thatn a post office in my eyes . it never used to have the post office , but now it does. they sell lots of chocolate bars, sweets, cigarettes. everything you would expect from a newsagent/ postoffice. i cant really fault this place. i would recomend you go there and try the posting facilities

Smyths…read moreToy Superstore, which has just opened in the former MFI shop in Llandudno, is a Toys'r'Us style shop offering a huge range of toys for children of all ages. Although it may not be as big as Toys'r'Us they manage to cram in a awful lot of stock and I can't imagine there's much you'll find in Toys'r'Us you won't find here. There's everything from computer games to Peppa Pig and from bikes to board games and prices are fairly reasonable. If you haven't time to browse around the shop there is a glossy catalogue available that you can either pick in store or order on-line. If you're a parent or grandparent planning to do some Christmas shopping this shop is a must visit and you wont need to make a long trek down the A55 to get there.

Aldi in Llandudno is located on a corner of the Mostyn Champneys Retail Park next to Argos. It's a…read morewell known discount supermarket and once upon a time I used to do my shopping there. I don't go there too much these days as didn't think the quality was always as good as it could be, especially the fresh fruit and vegetables which always seemed to go off a bit too quickly. I'm also not convinced it's all that cheap, at least not for what I buy. It's worth the odd look now and again though as they seem to get completely random items of non-food stock so you never know what you'll find.
