Whatever you do, wherever you go, make sure this is a a place you visit. A TINY old church turned coffee shop in the morning - Buddha Bear - and a brewery by afternoon - Holy Whale. You can still get coffee all day long as long as they're open. Don't bring a group because there's only one table with two church pews that can accommodate 6 people. Everything else is pretty much good for 1-3 people with a couple of stools at the bar. I'd guess about a max of 20 -25 seats total are available inside, but if it's nice, there's additional seating outside. Try their in-house brews or something from their rotating taps. They don't have food, other than hors d'oeuvres to satisfy the liquor laws so expect to order pickled eggs, pretzels and pickles. So don't come hungry and then complain about the food when you're coming to a brew house. The one staff was doing an amazing job serving and thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting tables after each patron so it's a pretty safe place to come despite its size. There's no table device right now so get up to the bar to order a flight or a pint!

We make a point to stop here EVERY time we're in Alma. Their beer is always stellar - even when doing outlandish combinations of ingredients and flavours. It's really quite impressive what a quality and tasty product they can achieve week-after-week, year-after-year at this little brewery. On a contemporary note, we were also quite happy with how seriously they were taking safety precautions during COVID. We always like to bring some beer home with us too - they sell crowlers (large cans) and growlers off tap. They also sell fun merch - whoever their designer/illustrator is must be having a blast with all their fun designs! Can not recommend highly enough!

I eat out daily. My flight: Chica Cerveza (blond) traditional, Moo Tang Clan Creamsicle (ale) so true to its description, Red Rhonda very very smooth for a red ale and the Medusa Milk Stout (my fav stout of all my travels) imagine vanilla chocolate coffee. Enjoyed the tandoori pickled egg. BTW get yourself a Holy Whale t-shirt, wear when you are here, 16oz for the price of 13oz.

Was absolutely thrilled to have come by this brewery while visiting Fundy NP. We happened to be walking through Alma when we came across this cute chapel, and to our pleasant surprise - it was a brewery! Sampled a few beers: General Tao Saison, Sweet and Tart Sour, and the Belgian Tripel IPA. The Saison was well balanced and exactly what I want in a Saison. Despite a high gravity (10% by volume), it was easy drinking and delicious! The Sour was enjoyably tart without being too sweet. Would certainly recommend to any tourists visiting Alma! (You can get coffee there too!)

Local craft beer available in downtown Alma is a boon for those visiting Fundy National Park. When we visited Sat-Mon in July the only food options were fresh pretzels, pickled eggs, and sausages. I saw advertisements about other dinner menus so there may be more of a full menu at times, but generally, don't expect a traditional meal. However the beer is the star of the show at Holy Whale, along with coffee in the a.m. they serve a wide variety of craft brews including several partnership brews with other local breweries. We especially liked the rhubarb sour, the partnership tripel with Acadia-Broue, and their Pilsner. The patio is a cool place to have a beer before dinner or after a hike.

Great beer. Nice people. Wonderful atmosphere. Love this place. We ordered a flight of four and like al of them. Stayed to drink the holy whale Medusa's milk stout. Short drive from Hopewell Rocks. In an old church. Come here!!! Ate at the Tipsy Lobster then headed here.

Great little brewery, I tried the Belgian Saison and really enjoyed it. They have a variety of rotating taps and the pretzels were actually fresh baked pretzels. Looks delicious. Worth a stop in for a brew or coffee and a bite to eat. Nice outdoor seating in front too with dog water.

Amazing beer, especially the stout. Wonderful, friendly service. Very reasonably priced. It has pretty stained glass windows.

With nice range of beer ranging from ales to porter. There is a regular selection of 4 core brews (Planters Pale Ale, Rojo Mojo Red Ale, Blue Heron Extra Special Bitter, and Port in a Storm Porter) with an interesting seasonal beer (the most recent one was Dussel-Port Altbier) to keep things interesting. Brewmaster Randy Lawrence is friendly and cares about the beer that he makes. For locals there are refillable growlers (1 L bottles) and there are individual 650 mL bottles. They also have party kegs if you need more beer. Being able to have locally-brewed beer made with local ingredients is one of the very nice parts of living in a beautiful agricultural area with people who are committed to making great things where they live.

I arrived and asked the woman helping us to tell me a…read morelittle bit about the beers and she was completely clueless about every single one. so much so, that she grabbed the sheet, clearly made for staff use and told me to read it to learn about the beer. They also do not fill any growlers that aren't their own (unheard of for micro breweries.. i consider it a hobby to travel to different breweries and fill existing growlers). She then suggested i could get some different cans BUT didn't tell me they only sell 6 packs of each one. the entire point of a craft brewery is sampling different ones. if the woman serving me had been helpful or friendly that would have compensated for their other short comings.

The staff used to be excited to see us, friendly, patient, kind and open. But the atmosphere has changed completely. It's probably been a year since we have walked into smokehouse and felt comfortable. The staff has become abrasive, rude, and condescending. We have been approached with disgust and apathy, a complete lack of care and the atmosphere is not what it was in 2022. We have given smokehouse chance after chance chopping it up to "a bad day for the staff" but after our last interaction it's become clear that smokehouse is not interested in their average client and more interested in catering only to the big parties. Smokehouse has turned from being a small town pub to a bar only interested in their bottom line and unless you're one of their few regulars you can expect to be treated as such
