I first applied for my child on May 14, 2024, and received confirmation. Over time, I was told he was on the waiting list, and later that he was first on the waiting list. Then that there was no waitlist and administration had changed. I remained patient and continued to follow up appropriately. Since then, I have reapplied and followed up multiple times across the past two years. Most recently, I submitted another application and reached out again only to receive no response at all. I understand that staff may be out of the office at times. However, a complete lack of communication and follow-through over an extended period reflects a breakdown in process, not just timing issues. As a parent, it's frustrating and discouraging to feel like your child's application is not being actively managed. I genuinely like what this school represents, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Strong schools should have strong communication especially in admissions, where families are trying to make important decisions. At this point, it's difficult to feel confident in how prospective families are handled.

Also, the cost per credit hour is much lower than at the University of Cincinnati Main campus. They offer quite a lot of night classes as well as distance learning options (online). Every professor I've had here has been an adjunct professor. I personally enjoy this because most are employed in the field related to the subject they are instructing. I find that these professors usually have unexpected and interesting insight into the course subject matter. I always try to schedule my classes through this UC campus. It is small only two main buildings. Plus parking is included in tuition which is awesome.

After two years at MCI I spent around 8 thousand dollars and trained under Certified Master Chefs. :Since this is a community college, there is no school pride which is sad to see, a lot of students when asked about our basketball team didn't even know where the gym was. : Things to check out if you go there currently for lunch I suggest Bakery Hill on the 2nd floor of ATLC, everything is made there fresh everyday and the counter people are pastry students that really care about you, compared to the Overlook where the food is bland and way overpriced and greasy and the workers don't want to help you. : Also check out the Summit, it is an acting restaurant run by Chef Sean Kagy and his all student work staff in the kitchen and Donna and her all student wait staff. I would suggest going on Friday nights as they have had three courses plus wine pairings for around thirty dollars a person.

You're decently vetted before you can step foot into a classroom. There's a short application process and you must be legally background checked (with the fancy blue paper background check, not just an online one). Once approved, you get a 5 year badge and you're able to check in to the school. I'm impressed with the organization of this school. I'm in two separate classrooms and both teachers are great. The kiddos are all respectful and care to be in school. The office staff, cafeteria staff and paraprofessionals are very personable with each kiddo. It's a lovely sight to see! As for the Classroom Buddy program, it's easy to get set up if you email the school for details. Even a small amount of time with a kiddo each week could change their perspective on many things, both short and long term. You can change a child's life. Yes, YOU.

I really enjoyed and looked up to all of my teachers. They were all amazing and wonderful people who taught me a lot. Some of them are still there! They have an accelerated program and a magnet program that brings in students from all over outside the Mt. Washington area. We were taught Latin in preparation for the curriculum at Walnut Hills High School even though not everyone went there. I also learned how to type about 60 words a minute when I was in the 5th grade, which is something most people can't say! This is a great school for your young ones to attend. There is even a huge playground in back for recess!

We signed our son up for tutoring in June to avoid the summer slump, but our family ultimately…read moredecided that Huntington was not the right fit, primarily because the tutoring model we received differed significantly from what we understood during the enrollment process. Enrollment uses a remote salesperson after a local assessment, and in our case that created a major disconnect. We expected individualized, interactive instruction. Instead, our son was placed in a small-group setting (up to a 4:1 student-to-tutor ratio) where much of the work consisted of independently completing worksheets while the tutor rotated among students. Parents should also understand the financial commitment before enrolling. In addition to the assessment fee, there is a $250 registration fee, and families are expected to prepay a large tutoring package. We were initially presented with a plan exceeding $10,000 before ultimately enrolling in a package of roughly $3,000. Had the instructional model and financial commitment been clearly explained upfront, we would not have enrolled. Our second session was also impacted by staffing issues while the director was serving jury duty. Our son was overwhelmed by the lack of structure, and the experience highlighted how dependent the center appeared to be on the director's presence. To the local director's credit, she spent considerable time discussing our concerns, was candid about the issues we raised, offered to credit the disrupted session, and ultimately honored the refund provisions of our agreement. Our concerns stemmed primarily from the disconnect between the enrollment process and the day-to-day tutoring experience we encountered. I'm leaving this review in the hopes that other parents can go in more informed than we were.  Before starting with an assessment, make sure you understand what a typical session actually looks like and know all fees and the size of the required prepaid tutoring package.

I have updated…read morethe name on Yelp, so hopefully the Yelp staff verifies it so this school can get its proper due. My two oldest girls attend...and my wife and I could not be happier. Before my oldest daughter started kindergarten, we were still living within the Cincinnati Public Schools District. Seeing as that school system is beyond helpless and ineffectual, we knew that we needed to get our daughter in one of the outlying school systems bordering the city's limits. Batavia had high marks from the state Department of Education, so this was a huge motivator in our decision to move here. Not one minute have we regretted it. BES has a phenomenal staff. The teachers, lunch workers, administrators, secretarial staff, custodians, and everybody else, are committed to doing the utmost best for the students. There's a genuine care for these kids that you will not find in big city school. They encourage (and expect) the parents to be active participants in their children's education. They are supportive, but not adverse to discipline when needed. I cannot say enough good things about my kids' teachers. Our oldest daughter had issues with her speech that everyone who came into contact with her realized. However, the state of Ohio refused to allow her into speech therapy because these is a policy that students can only get help if their "disability" (in this case my daughter's speech) was having an adverse effect on their development. The problem here was my daughter kept scoring well above average on everything, and so the state said her academic development was progressing just fine, and there was no need for her to participate in speech therapy. This did not satisfy either her teacher or principle. They continuously brought her case before the school board and the state. One day, our daughter got in trouble on the bus. The bus driver informed us that she had heard our daughter use the "N"-word repeatedly on the ride home. My wife and I were shocked. We have never used that word in our household and would never tolerate its use by our children. When we confronted our daughter she was extremely upset. She did not understand why the bus driver had yelled at her and gotten her in trouble. When we told her to tell us what word she had used we were shocked to hear her say that despicable word. She kept repeating it over and over, and finally started pointing to her feet as she said it. It was then that we realized she had been saying the word "sneaker." Due to her speech impediment, it sounded exactly like the "N'-word. We informed her teacher of this, who then immediately brought it to the school principle. Her argument was that even though our daughter's speech was not affecting her academic development, it was already beginning to affect her social development. And because of that, it was the state's responsibility to place our daughter in speech therapy. It worked. Two weeks later we were drafting up our daughter's Individual Education Plan. This is just one example of how wonderful BES is. Our kids have gotten the best teachers. Our children are learning so much, and loving every minute of it. I am proud to say I'm a parent of two Bulldogs! Mahalo, and enjoy.
