Her teachers, and Diana, the director, gave her lots of opportunities to learn outside the classroom too. My son had a math teacher this past year that just wouldn't give up on him. She worked with him at lunch and before school until he finally understood, and he's learning algebra independently now and doing well. The kids are supported at Leaves, and expected to be their nicest, smartest and most interesting selves, and they rise to that expectation!

This year has done nothing but cause issues not just for my son but for his friends as well. They recently changed the administration and it has gone downhill from there. The way they handle punishments is absolutely unacceptable. They treat the girls and the guys with very different amounts of respect and they put students down and make their lives harder. Yes high school students may be rebellious at times but that is just a normal high school experience. In my opinion this is just like a public school with a Christian label. I do not recommend sending your kids here. And they have dress code expectations but the kids that I have seen do not seem clean. my son has overheard multiple kids saying they do not shower. that is utterly unacceptable. It even states in the dress code you must been "clean and well kept". and some of my sons friends which are females have worn skirts that are slightly on the shorter side and as soon as they walk in that building they are given used clothes that haven't been washed although I see MANY younger girls with skirts all the way up their legs almost having their butts out and they haven't said a word to them about it. I understand there are exceptions to follow but the way they go about it is simply just unChristian. And my son has confided in me that he no longer believes because of this school. The teachers cuss infront of children. I don't know what needs to happen but I recommend fixing these issues as soon as possible.

We purposely moved here for the schools, Turpin and Sherwood. This summer was full of preparation for our current Sophomore son. You start by doing all of the online registration and then drop off all the important paperwork at the district office (see my review for there, too). A few weeks before school started, we were invited in by the counselor to create a class schedule. The counselor was so kind and thorough, helping explain the in's and outs of the school to us. Fast forward to new parent orientation: the staff gave us a very detailed overview of Turpin and everything it has to offer. A few days later, our son went to the new student orientation where he learned how the schedules work, where to go on the first day and how to succeed at this school. We have been SO pleased with the staff from this school. A week before school started, there was an open house type event where you could tour the school from 8a-8p! It was so nice to be able to freely walk through the school and find lockers/classroom! This is a very busy campus! Lots of active students who have Turpin pride! On the first day of school, the teachers and staff were outside cheering for the students. It is so obvious that the staff at Turpin cares about their kids. I am so, so proud to be a Turpin mom and our family loves this school district so far. The principal went out of his way to give us his personal phone number so we could have one more walk through of the school over the weekend if we wanted it. Now that is someone who cares!!!!

Turpin has been amazing and my daughter finally feels like she has found some people like her. Her classes are wonderful and grades have remained good. She did have a lot of homework freshman year but it has seemed to settle down and be exactly the right amount of homework now. The teachers have always been on top of communication in regards to my daughter having ADD and any help she may require for tests and homework. In the three years here we have never had a bad teacher. The principal is amazing along with all the vice principals, they are top of any issues I may have in regards to testing or SAT or ACT questions or any other basic question. We are so happy here and the community is great.

You could say that I have a bias towards the Sycamore Community Schools, but a lot of what the…read moredistrict has achieved over the years academically can back things up. I made my way through the Sycamore district from kindergarten all the way through high school, so I've pretty much seen it all. The district has four K-4 elementary schools (two of which were rebuilt this decade), the E.H. Greene Intermediate School (grades 5 and 6), and the Sycamore Junior High School and Sycamore High School. The Sycamore district is located in Blue Ash, Montgomery, and Symmes Township, one of the best suburban areas in town, and it's a big attraction for many non-Cincinnatians especially who move to the Queen City. I had an internship earlier this summer and was told by two different people with young children that they were highly considering moving to the Sycamore Community Schools area. While all the lower level schools are equally important to the district, you see everything come around at the high school level, where SHS offers seven global languages and 21 different AP courses. Academically, I've always considered Sycamore the best public high school in the state of Ohio, but this past year its 31 National Merit Scholars ranked first overall in the entire state. Sycamore has received "Excellent" ratings every year by the Ohio Department of Education and continues to earn a perfect 30 out of 30 on the Ohio District Report Card. While its 89.6 percent college attendance rate can be topped by a few other schools in town, its 96 percent daily attendance rate is right up there at the top. Sycamore has 468 certified employees including 31 nationally certified teachers, while 72 percent of the district's teachers have more than 10 years of experience and 81.5 percent of the teaching staff has a master's and/or doctorate degree(s). Another great thing about Sycamore is the athletic program. Although athletes are now required to pay a participation fee, the boosters (who have raised nearly $1 million in the last 10 years) managed to save all the teams when the school underwent budget cuts four or five years ago. When I was at Sycamore just a few years ago, the Aviators' athletic department offered (and probably still does) more varsity teams and sports than any other school in the state. Outside of sports, there are a ton of great extracurricular activities including the award-winning drama department, while newspaper and choir classes are offered during the school day and have led to many national awards and college scholarships each year. Bias or not, there's no denying that the Sycamore Community Schools is an "excellent" district. I was a part of it for 13 years and enjoyed so much about it and will always be proud to call myself an Aviator.
