My son was born a few months before Covid hit and so I was very nervous about his first preschool experience. The Gardner school made it so easy and enjoyable for him! I especially loved that all meals are included in tuition, and the teachers were helpful with potty training. This school is very clean and tidy, and I was very satisfied with the safety precautions they have in place (locked front doors, code required for check-in/out). My son loved the themed classrooms/hallways and the staff were so friendly and kind. My job situation changed soon after my son started at the school but the staff were very understanding and we were so sad to go.

My daughter attended KinderCare Symmes from 12 weeks to about 20 weeks old. She was in the small…read moreinfants room with the non-mobile babies. The first person I interacted with at KC was their director. She took me on a tour, showing me the infants room and telling me all the great things about KC. It was close to work and the director seemed great and that it why we chose to send our daughter there. Our experience was pretty rough from the start. The baby and I were both getting used to this new routine. I was trying not to be the typical overbearing mother and put my faith in the teachers/caregivers. One of my first negative experiences was in the first or second week there. I knew my daughter had been struggling a bit. I stopped in to see her on my lunch break and spoke with the main teacher and one of her helpers. They made it seem like she cried all day every day. They asked me if she was colicky and what kind of formula I was feeding her, etc. At home my daughter was very happy, slept well and didn't cry a lot at all so I found this conversation very disconcerting. I tried to continue the conversation with the main teacher when I picked up my little one that afternoon, and at that time she made it seem like my daughter was doing great and was totally adjusted to the new environment. This was confusing based on our previous conversation (that had totally stressed me out). I followed this up by emailing the director who never responded. In addition to the awkward, poor communication with the teacher, I had a bad interaction with the co-director. She called me about some paperwork and as I picked up the phone I could hear her complaining about someone (though I never figured out if it was about me or my daughter or sometime else entirely). It was completely unprofessional. In addition to these interactions I saw the infant room over ratio at least a handful times in the two months we were there. There were older infants and toddlers all over the small infants room, exposing the babies to more germs than they should have been (sometimes touching the babies because the teachers couldn't reign them all in). The main teacher seemed very stressed out a lot of the time. Her assistants were never consistent (different people there a lot, at both drop off and pick up). It honestly just felt very chaotic. Now that I've laid out my experience and why we left I will lay out some of the pluses... The teachers and director were very nice. While communication could certainly use improvement I do think they did well under the circumstances. I really liked one of the assistants who I believe worked in the older infants room full time but helped in the small infants room in the morning. KC (or at least this location) also provides their own diapers and wipes, which was pretty big perk. They also provided formula if you didn't mind to ask them for it (you still have to bring the formula home and prepare bottles every day). And they work with many companies to give an employee discounts. I'm sure childcare is an extremely challenging field to work in. I didn't walk away with any personal negative feelings for the people who work here. A lot of the challenges we faced are likely typical of any childcare organization. But I wanted a smaller, calmer environment and more personal care for my daughter so for us KC didn't work out.

Why would I leave my kids with someone that can't even find their papers? So I found this kindercare, and I'm honestly soooo happy things worked out the way they did, they classrooms are spacious, they offer more activities and things to do, and their playground looks super fun, my kids have never been in daycare and I was nervous but they settled all that and now I'm super confident and excited for my kids to be going here! I'll have a infant and toddler there. Very organized and clean and spacious.

This particular "Schools-Public & Parochial" is actually Batavia Elementary School. I have updated…read morethe name on Yelp, so hopefully the Yelp staff verifies it so this school can get its proper due. My two oldest girls attend...and my wife and I could not be happier. Before my oldest daughter started kindergarten, we were still living within the Cincinnati Public Schools District. Seeing as that school system is beyond helpless and ineffectual, we knew that we needed to get our daughter in one of the outlying school systems bordering the city's limits. Batavia had high marks from the state Department of Education, so this was a huge motivator in our decision to move here. Not one minute have we regretted it. BES has a phenomenal staff. The teachers, lunch workers, administrators, secretarial staff, custodians, and everybody else, are committed to doing the utmost best for the students. There's a genuine care for these kids that you will not find in big city school. They encourage (and expect) the parents to be active participants in their children's education. They are supportive, but not adverse to discipline when needed. I cannot say enough good things about my kids' teachers. Our oldest daughter had issues with her speech that everyone who came into contact with her realized. However, the state of Ohio refused to allow her into speech therapy because these is a policy that students can only get help if their "disability" (in this case my daughter's speech) was having an adverse effect on their development. The problem here was my daughter kept scoring well above average on everything, and so the state said her academic development was progressing just fine, and there was no need for her to participate in speech therapy. This did not satisfy either her teacher or principle. They continuously brought her case before the school board and the state. One day, our daughter got in trouble on the bus. The bus driver informed us that she had heard our daughter use the "N"-word repeatedly on the ride home. My wife and I were shocked. We have never used that word in our household and would never tolerate its use by our children. When we confronted our daughter she was extremely upset. She did not understand why the bus driver had yelled at her and gotten her in trouble. When we told her to tell us what word she had used we were shocked to hear her say that despicable word. She kept repeating it over and over, and finally started pointing to her feet as she said it. It was then that we realized she had been saying the word "sneaker." Due to her speech impediment, it sounded exactly like the "N'-word. We informed her teacher of this, who then immediately brought it to the school principle. Her argument was that even though our daughter's speech was not affecting her academic development, it was already beginning to affect her social development. And because of that, it was the state's responsibility to place our daughter in speech therapy. It worked. Two weeks later we were drafting up our daughter's Individual Education Plan. This is just one example of how wonderful BES is. Our kids have gotten the best teachers. Our children are learning so much, and loving every minute of it. I am proud to say I'm a parent of two Bulldogs! Mahalo, and enjoy.
