The people who rest here were five star people. My grandparents and my friend's father. It's emotional to come here, but needed.

This was an exceptional experience end to end. Mika is soothing, calm, detail oriented, and…read morepatient. She answers every question with precision and follows through on everything she says she will accomplish. Mika went above and beyond to make sure my grandmother, Carolyn, was honored. I cannot thank her enough. My only feedback is it would be nice to have a custom bag like the one I have pictured to carry the urn out to the car.

I would strongly discourage anyone from using Boston Cremation…read more Our family has had an incredibly frustrating and distressing experience working with them during one of the most difficult times of our lives. They issued a death certificate listing a cremation date that does not match the actual date of cremation. When we contacted them to have the error corrected, instead of taking responsibility, we were given the runaround. Most recently, we were told that the date on the death certificate represents the date they "started the paperwork" for the cremation rather than the date the cremation actually occurred. We do not believe this explanation is accurate or consistent with Massachusetts requirements, yet they continue to refuse to correct what we believe is an error on an official legal document. As a result, our family has been forced to continue pursuing the matter instead of being able to focus on grieving. Unfortunately, this has not been an isolated issue. Throughout the process, communication was poor, empathy was lacking, and we repeatedly had to advocate for ourselves to receive basic information and proper treatment. The entire experience has caused unnecessary stress and has ultimately required us to seek legal assistance. Families deserve professionalism, compassion, and confidence that important legal documents are being completed accurately. That was not our experience. I sincerely hope no other family has to endure what ours has.

Thinking about Woodlawn? Already overwhelmed thinking about the wake, then the church, then the…read morecemetery procession (and limos), and then having family and friends back to the house? When my Mom died, I know I was! Fortunately, Woodlawn is not only a beautiful cemetery, but it offers some amenities that really made things much simpler: -- a chapel (for a service) -- an adjacent function hall (visitors can gather before or after) -- a caterer who knows the place so you can have coffee (or much more) So, instead of having to think about venues for each step, and the wear and tear on all involved, we decided to do it ALL at Woodlawn. Here's what we did: 1. Memorial service in the chapel at 11am; 2. Followed by visitation in the hall where we had coffee and food; 3. Those who stayed until the end walked over to the graveside for that part. Doing the above reverses the traditional order a bit, but visitors got to drive to one place, park once, and do whatever they might normally want to do (i.e., make an appearance or stay a while). And I got to keep my sanity in check. Another nice outcome? I asked the caterer* for some lunch-type foods since the service was going to end around that time -- and you know what? Most people stayed. We sat, chatted, reminisced, and ate (and ate!). My Mom would have LOVED that! * Yes, catering is an expense -- but I didn't need any limos (we were already at the cemetery) and didn't need to have food ready for hosting afterwards.

I have complained for years about the upkeep of my mother and grandparents plots. The new thing is…read morethe area that they are buried in. You were not supposed to have certain things out, but we have noticed within the past six months that the people with the ground headstones put whatever They want out including glass flags (which my grandfather who is in Pearl Harbor, his American flag gets taken every time we put it up) we went today on Mother's Day and there were people having a full blown block party with a barbecue and music. I understand this certain types of celebration of life, but there is a time in place in a cemetery is not the place. It was extremely disrespectful gutwrenching and beyond upsetting to the point where I was crying I have complained about this before and nothing has gotten done we can't put out simple things that are in the rules without being taken Yet the people with the ground headstones can do whatever they like. So I would like to know how much extra I would have to pay to have my stuff be able to stay because I don't see any other option. This is both me and my father's plots as well and to see what the future has to hold is absolutely sickening.
