It didn't take me long to decide what I wanted bc I saw the word s'mores so it's no contest for me after that lol! I got the Gimme S'mores fog cup which has their signature creamy soft serve mixed with graham crackers and chocolate sauce, and topped with toasted marshmallow merengue and their giant cloud of fog cotton candy!! If I was a kid, I'm sure I would've eaten the entire thing haha!! It was delicious but insanely sweet as you can imagine. I could only manage a couple of nibbles on the cotton candy - it had a great flavor but is just straight sugar so I couldn't handle more lol. But the rest went down too easy and was a fun choice. My hubby wasn't feeling as childish as me and just went with a little scoop of his go-to mint chocolate chip topped with chocolate sauce - excellent flavor and texture in this one as well and the small scoop was just right. If you're not feeling the ice cream, they also offer cookies and donuts - ample choices of flavors and they looked fabulous as well. The shop is sleek and clean with benches inside and some whimsical patio seating outside to take advantage of their harbor views. Prices are reasonable given the quality and portions. Staff were very friendly. Location is excellent - right along Halifax's popular Harborwalk. Very easy to get to as a pedestrian and tourist but I imagine driving here would be a nightmare bc parking is difficult in Halifax imo and there's so much construction going on at the moment.

I got a small cup of chocolate brownie ice cream but their main thing was a cotton candy dessert. Looked cool but I didn't want anything too big. The ice cream was good but not at the top of my list. That's why I took off one star. But I would definitely say to give it a try if you've never been here. Very tasty. I'm just picky.

After all, how could an "ice cream place" possibly also know their stuff about entrees as well? Well on my recent visit I was converted. I am actually going to go out on a limb and say that I think I might prefer the fish here to the fish at Wharf Wraps across the street and that's saying something! We decided to go back and sample "anything but ice cream" this time and boy were we pleasantly surprised. I had heard nothing but rave reviews of the lobster roll so that's what I ordered. Hubby ordered the 2 piece fish and chips and we got the chicken nugget combo for the boys. I also ordered fries to go with my lobster roll. The lobster roll was awesome. Served in a soft and hot dog bun (the ones that come in a package of 12, not a package of 8 - you know the ones I mean...) it was overflowing with lobster. The flavour was mouthwatering and the only negative I can think of was that I like the addition of celery to my lobster sandwich. But, the huge positive is that it was a mere $7.00 (taxes included!). SEVEN dollars for a lobster sandwich. Amazing. The fries were homecut (I'm one of those rare people who prefer frozen) but they served the purpose and were adequate ketchup conveyors for our little boys. Their nuggets were sadly of the mystery-meat variety but you win some, you lose some. The big surprise was the fish and chips which I've already alluded to as being the surprise hit of the visit. Two generous pieces (the two together make up the same size as the one piece at Wharf Wraps) were cooked to perfection with light batter and the inside boasted white flaky succulent haddock. And the kicker? Only $10.00 (taxes included) which is four dollars cheaper than the competition. While you give up the ambiance and table service of Wharf Wraps if you're looking for a quick take out option that is still delicious with a quick turn around What's the Scoop is the way to go. We'll definitely be back. A side note: all prices include tax but they are CASH ONLY so be sure to stop at a banking machine before getting in line :-)

As we stood in the streets of Halifax one of us mentioned ice cream and one of the other of us looked up from our phones to see COWS about 75 feet away from us. It was purely accidental, I swear. Then again, if fate deals you a good hand, you take it. This COWS location is located along the waterfront in a large, expansive area of shops and restaurants, and vendors. Inside this place is awesome. I'm going to guess there we well over 30 flavors of ice cream, each one calling my name. The names of their ice cream flavours are funny/whimsical/appropriate. Things like Lemoon lime bar, Cownadian Maple, and Cookie Moonster...you get the drift. A lot of cow-based inspiration. My ice cream of choice was Coffee...and it was SOOOO good. Then there's the merchandise. Aisles and Rows of shirts, hoodies, sweaters, socks, jackets, hats...the list goes on. So Many T-shirts with cow-related puns, and all so fun. The staff at COWS appear to enjoy their jobs and they have fun while working. And why not? It's a fun, relaxed atmosphere and you're surrounded by ice cream!

This place is a true Canadian gem. The ice cream is always top-notch--super creamy, rich, and full of flavour. Plus, we love browsing the fun merch and other quirky products while we're there. Whether you're after a sweet treat or just want to soak up the fun vibes, Cow's is always worth the stop. A classic East Coast experience!
