maling the waffle cones

Excellent ice cream, great selection, they make the cones fresh as you watch. The only downside is the excessive lines and crowded nature of the store in the heart of the tourist area. The people working there were perky and chick-fil-a friendly however. Worth a visit.

Had 1 scoop of Birthday Cake in a sprinkle cone. Super yummy. Glad the waterfront had more than 1 location. The line here want long at all and glad they had so many people working behind the counter to take orders. Really efficient.

Always heard that Cows was Canada's best ice cream, and I couldn't agree more! So many flavors from which to choose! I had the Birthday Cake which was right on point. The cones too were crisp and crunchy. Service was impeccable. A perfectly yummy treat in a cold but very sunny day.

Always has a lineup but totally worth it. The sign has the names of the flavors but to see what is in each flavor you have to read the signs in the display window (be super close) this was a bit awkward as I was trying to read while ordering and trying to look while others were ordering. Really neat flavors. Super creamy and rich. 10/10 good ice cream.

Great novelty shop and they claim to be canadas best ice cream. It's the only ice cream I had in Canada so I can not compare. It wasn't my favorite. The store is definitely worth visiting. Be sure to get a cow pj.

It didn't take me long to decide what I wanted bc I saw the word s'mores so it's no contest for me after that lol! I got the Gimme S'mores fog cup which has their signature creamy soft serve mixed with graham crackers and chocolate sauce, and topped with toasted marshmallow merengue and their giant cloud of fog cotton candy!! If I was a kid, I'm sure I would've eaten the entire thing haha!! It was delicious but insanely sweet as you can imagine. I could only manage a couple of nibbles on the cotton candy - it had a great flavor but is just straight sugar so I couldn't handle more lol. But the rest went down too easy and was a fun choice. My hubby wasn't feeling as childish as me and just went with a little scoop of his go-to mint chocolate chip topped with chocolate sauce - excellent flavor and texture in this one as well and the small scoop was just right. If you're not feeling the ice cream, they also offer cookies and donuts - ample choices of flavors and they looked fabulous as well. The shop is sleek and clean with benches inside and some whimsical patio seating outside to take advantage of their harbor views. Prices are reasonable given the quality and portions. Staff were very friendly. Location is excellent - right along Halifax's popular Harborwalk. Very easy to get to as a pedestrian and tourist but I imagine driving here would be a nightmare bc parking is difficult in Halifax imo and there's so much construction going on at the moment.

I got a small cup of chocolate brownie ice cream but their main thing was a cotton candy dessert. Looked cool but I didn't want anything too big. The ice cream was good but not at the top of my list. That's why I took off one star. But I would definitely say to give it a try if you've never been here. Very tasty. I'm just picky.

My new favorite weekend activity is a visit to the Alderney Landing Farmer's Market for a sampling of fresh baked goods and treats. New this year to the Farmer's Market is The Doughnut Stand. Serving up a wide variety of classic and new fusion style doughnuts, The Doughnut Stand offers a delicious, fresh, and local alternative to big chain factory baked goods. They have all the classics from Boston crème, raspberry filled, apple fritter, lemon curd, and maple bacon. The Doughnut Stand also brings an exciting and changing selection of new fusion style doughnuts. So far I've seen Crème egg and mini egg doughnuts for Easter, peanut butter Captain Crunch, carrot cake doughnut, Jalapeño bacon cheddar, and chocolate cherry fritter. You won't find that extreme variety and experimentation anywhere else! Fluffy, light, airly, fresh, and full of flavour I love their doughnuts. To help beat the heat of summer The Doughnut Stand also just released a menu of homemade frozen treats. Popsicles, chocolate dipped bars, and even doughnut ice cream sandwiches filled with Dee Dee's own ice creams. Yes! You heard right, doughnut ice cream sandwiches! The Doughnut Stand is open on Saturdays for the market and other select dates they post on their Facebook pages. They're often at local events nearby or other venues spreading that doughnut-y goodness.

I get a vague sense they do have other doughnuts but I am instantly and always drawn the Maple Bacon. I may try some other flavours but my heart will always belong to the Maple Bacon.

Still being new to Dartmouth and always looking for a yummy ice cream I was taken to what is called the Funky Monkey Ice Hut. Funky Monkey Ice Hut is located on the side of the store and in the summertime is packed. It actually looks like a coconut hut that is the home to the largest ice cream this side of the bridge that I have found. Normally when I go I am a regular chocolate girl the odd time if they are out which shocks me that an ice cream location runs out of a staple flavor like chocolate. Oh well this is an opportunity to try one of the many other flavours. Tropical treasure is TO DIE FOR but they do not get it in often but I keep requesting it. That is my first choice now but normally have to revert to chocolate as it is never in. Waffle cones as well as regular cones give you the choice as well as a cup. But seriously ice cream always tastes better in a cone. Now they are not open right now as I just called and they told me that they might be open at the end of the month (May) but they will for sure be open for June. I told them summer is coming get to it! Great prices and large cones will wet your lips this summer. Enjoy one of the tables in the parking lot if you can get a seat.

The name even sounds like an ice cream flavour! Can there be a better place? Pizza/donair, beverages, ice cream cones, & movies! I'm sad I moved away from the condo building next door :-(
