The winery has a large property with plenty of space to explore, including what appears to be a small farm with chickens and pigs. On a warm day, the outdoor seating areas with games would likely make for a lovely experience. However, when it came to the wine tasting, the samples were served in plastic cups, which some may actually prefer. But for us, it took away from the overall experience. And most importantly, the wines themselves just didn't impress our palates. We tried a variety of their offerings, but nothing really stood out or compelled us to purchase a bottle to take home. It's a shame, because the setting is really quite nice. But at the end of the day, the wine is the most important factor, and this winery missed the mark for us on that front. If you're in the area and want to spend some time outdoors in a charming environment, it could still be worth a visit. But I wouldn't go out of your way, especially if you're a serious wine enthusiast.

The tour ended at his restaurant/bar Azur and we were treated to a 3 course wine tasting lunch, which was AMAZING!! He gave us some tips and tricks for the foodies and poured wines for those that just wanted to be served. A tractor pulls an open air trolley type car around the grounds where you can see the farmland, ponds, and wildlife (we saw a deer, alligators, turtles, and turkeys). It was interesting to hear the history of the land and crops. You won't want to skip this part. The gardens were very pretty. There were informative talks given by staff, and there were several exhibits in old slave quarters. These exhibits offer insights and history, and it is a lot to take it all in. Because we were back in Charleston again for Christmas this year, we decided to do it again with the same group, expecting a similar experience. Unfortunately, this year was a major disappointment. Our two guides seemed uninterested and disengaged, which really affected the overall experience. There was very little singing or holiday spirit, and it felt like they were just going through the motions. Given the cost, it felt like a waste of money. We will definitely return to Charleston in the future, but we would not do this sleigh ride again.
