Crystin was our tour guide for our first day in Charleston, and she was absolutely fantastic! She…read morekicked things off right on time and clearly explained what to expect -- how many stops we'd have, how long each one would take, and what was included. Her funny, upbeat, and sweet demeanor set the tone immediately and made the whole group smile. Our group included about ten guests from various parts of the East Coast, and although that felt like a lot at first, Crystin did an amazing job making sure everyone could hear and stay engaged. Between each stop, she shared fascinating bits of Charleston history -- from local architecture to the stories behind churches and Philadelphia Street -- which added great context between all the delicious bites. Food Highlights: * Port of Call: We sampled chicken bog, and Crystin explained the dish's origins and regional variations. Several guests mentioned it was their favorite of the tour. * Oyster House: Shrimp and grits, she-crab soup, hush puppies, praline brown butter, and pimento cheese -- all delicious and generously portioned. I especially enjoyed learning about the history of she-crab soup. Honestly, there was so much food that I couldn't finish it all! * Well Hung Vineyard: Cola-braised short ribs served with vegetables and bacon flakes -- tender, flavorful, and perfectly presented. Crystin shared the background of the restaurant and its owners. Drinks were optional (and worth it); I tried the blood orange martini while others opted for wine flights. * Market Street Stops: We visited three more spots for sweets, pastries, and biscuits. While I'm not much of a dessert person, these places gave great insight into Market Street's history -- including stories about earthquakes, flooding, and rebuilding. Overall, this was truly a 10/10 experience. Highly recommend for couples, families, or any food lover who enjoys walking, eating, and learning. Spending our first day in Charleston on this tour with Crystin was the perfect way to kick off our trip!

So good. First food…read moretour we have done and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Yes, pricey, 110 each but we felt it was worth it. Like all the reviews say, it gave us some nice historic background. Loved the info on why it is called She Crab Soup. Robin was able to answer all the questions, whether history or food related. Really enjoyed the she crab soup and the short ribs. Those were my favorites. Large quantities, was a large lunch for us. Good to walk between places, too. Highly recommend the secret tours and will try them in our home city, too. Ty Robin!

I purchased the Tea Service ahead of time. Everyone was very friendly but I will say, overly cautious. I had indicated that I have a tree nut allergy on the notes when I booked our reservation and I have never had an establishment refuse me service because of my allergy , but they did. For the life of me I couldn't understand why a slight adjustment couldn't be made to remove almonds from one tiny dish. They also refused to serve one of my daughters for a lactose intolerance note. I assured them it was ok and I had a lactaid for her to take, she'd be fine. I had only included that note because SOME places will offer alternatives. Ultimately, they served us but I had to sign a waiver, never have I ever until now. Most of the tea service items were very good with the exception of the tiny lemon chess pie which was curdled and tasted of rotten eggs, awful. The tea was excellent and the scones and curd and cream were great too. The area where the dining room is, is nothing fancy at all. It was decent but I was truly disappointed as I was hoping for something more extravagant for tea service. The plantation home, while nice was also truly underwhelming. Great history, good tour guide who was very knowledgeable and a great storyteller, but the house was not anywhere near as fancy as others I have visited. I think what was the biggest let down was that this was the first time my daughters were visiting any plantation home and it was not at all what I was hoping for them to see and experience. If I had known what it looked like more ahead of time, I would have chosen another location in the area. Pictures inside the home are not allowed.

Our group of 3 had a main focus on the history of Charleston and Savannah and Kevin delivered. But he knew that we would also need a break and worked in tours that highlighted the charm and feel for each city including a late night stroll with him. His restaurant bookings were so helpful when you travel, finding good places to eat that have a table can be very challenging. To not have to think about where I'm going each night was a blessing. I can't recommend enough having him plan your visit to what you love to do most when you travel.

He is a passionate and seasoned personal concierge who will hold your hand from start to finish and even check in with you once you land back in your hometown. From the minute I opened Kevin's website I just had an amazing feeling. I knew right away that Kevin would help us plan the BEST and least cookie cutter trip and experience for our family. There is so much information online about Charleston. And whilst it's exciting to research a new city, it's easy to get overwhelmed and end up with all the standard tourist traps. Enter Kevin McQuade--he just get it from the start. Within minutes we connected over the phone. He has an uncanny sense of what you'll like and dislike and is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about creating next level SC experiences. Over the phone Kevin was so caring, asked the right questions and keenly listened as he got to know OUR family! It was clear that seeing Charleston from an insider's point of view would give us a very different and off-the-beaten path experience, as opposed to the run of the mill Charleston trip. That's exactly what we wanted! Kevin really took his time to gather tons of information, made amazing suggestions for tours, experiences and restaurants in real time and then went off to do his magic. He makes all the calls and books all of your tours, meals etc. This took all the pressure off and all we had to do was pack and show up! Kevin came back to us with the most unbelievable itinerary. I could not get over the level of detail - all the information for anywhere we were going, interesting fact, travel time, what time to leave our hotel, tips and tricks for each destination, dress codes, things to think about ahead of time, must picks for each menu and so much more. He took all the guess work out and this made for such an enjoyable and smooth trip. All of Kevin's suggested and booked was beyond incredible and we ALL loved everything we did. Everything we did became the new highlight! There was some unexpected rain D]during our stay and Kevin immediately got on to things and helped us do a quick pivot to make the necessary adjustments. My two teens remained engaged, excited and involved throughout and really loved Charleston because of the itinerary and how we spent our time there. In fact, they were sad to leave and can't wait to return. The restaurants selected were next level, with each meal better than the next. Kevin made sure all our lunches and dinners were booked and each provided a totally different and unique cuisine and vibe! We could not get over the food, the service and overall culinary experiences we were having - this from a huge foodie! The food itself was a highlight, not one I was necessarily expecting. We did two walking tours - one with Kevin who showed us beautiful Charleston at night - there is nothing like it and was blow your mind incredible - and another with the fabulous storyteller and super cool and fun Ed Macy that we did during the day was just incredible. We were so excited and filled with gratitude throughout every step that we took in Charleston. We just wanted more and more and could not get enough. Another highlight was the Middleton Place Plantation - one we would never have chosen on our own. It was one of the most sublime experiences including a most exquisite dinner which was all glass enclosed and had the most magnificent views of the garden and the plantation. The history, the beauty, the vastness, it was truly surreal. We stayed in an amazing hotel The Dewberry, which was brilliantly located in downtown Charleston, right by King Street, which is filled with amazing shopping, stores, restaurants, bars, coffee, houses, you name it. But Kevin takes the guessing out and tells you which is the best place to go for coffee, ice cream or even where to get the famous coconut layered cake etc. he'll make suggestions that you NOT read anywhere and would only know about from a local. What I loved so much about working with Kevin aside from everything, was that he held our hand from start to finish and communicated with us throughout our trip. He checked in on us, was keen to hear how things were going, and was available for any questions that we had along the way. I have never been on a vacation and had such a personal concierge service at my fingertips. Kevin is such an authentic, warm, personable, funny, open and just all-around really really great guy who is trustworthy and really loves and cares about his job and is so passionate about planning and creating a perfect trip for you and your family. There really is NO other way to visit Charleston. BEST money if the trip you'll spend! It will literally be a game changer. Your trip will not be the same unless you work directly with Kevin - the Charleston guru!
