I liked a lot of things about Nikos, the atmosphere is fantastic if you are seeking that genuine family restaurant vibe- I imagine it would be great for family events to hire the place out, as it has a stage for live music, is reasonable priced, has a dance floor a full bar and is very clean. There is a noticeable lack in music though. The service staff are very willing to answer any question you have and are attentive throughout your meals-dare I say boarder line annoyingly attentive but potentially they are understaffed. They bring you water for the table, without asking at the beginning of the meal-as it should be- I appreciate that more than I can articulate. So they let you order Banquets for one! Isn't that amazing?! I've never seen that before! Banquets are always too much and you always have so much food that so much goes to waste, that this is the best thing I have seen a restaurant do! Plus, it doesn't single out the single folk who want the banquet but don't have another to order it with! Love it! We ended up ordering one banquet ($35) that came with five courses. I have posted photos of all courses except the meat course and the desert course. We also ordered a side plate of olives. The first course consisted of miscellaneous dips, which were all seemingly homemade, flat bread, pickled octopus, fasoulia, a dolmade and roasted capsicum. It was all as you would expect, nothing to write home about, the pickled octopus was great, not rubbery at all and perfectly spiced. Dare I say the dolmade was slightly decrepit, which indicated to me it might be tinned. I think I have made enough in my life to make the judgement. This plate was definitely big enough for two very hungry people. The second course was chicken from their spit and Saganaki. The Saganaki was cooked well and the chicken although tasty, I couldn't help but notice I wasn't eating a gyro. Promptly brought out again was our third course which was the meat with a lovely fresh green salad with cheap Bulgarian feta. The meat, again incredibly delicious, was from the spit. I was expecting cuts of beef or kebabs or keftedes, something that wasn't shaved for a take away meal. Between the meat course and the next course we waited, what seemed like a very long, unreasonable amount of time. Throughout the banquet they had gotten us accustomed to a certain pace and now that the restaurant had gotten busier our banquet had come to an abrupt holt, as did the meals of those around us. When the seafood plate finally came out, it was rather sad looking. As I put the oyster in my mouth I instantly felt it was a tremendous error in judgment. It had a distinct flavour of "I may kill you in your sleep." Thus I lived to tell the tale. The small piece of fish was overcooked, unseasoned and tasted thawed, as did the scallop and prawn. Neither of us were game enough to taste the mussel, photo attached. The chips were great. The plate came with sticky, oozy, yummy garlic sauce which was ice cold which completely creeped us out; I mean it should have been warm! At this point we never saw the waitress again, we got bored of waiting and decided we would get desert to take away. The desert was rolled baklava, Turkish delight and galatabouriko (I'm sure that's not spelled right) with three dried frigs and a random bunch of sultanas. Desert was nice, not in any way, shape or form close to being the best I've had, but nice. For the banquet, 1 beer, a soda water, side of olives, two full tummies and a nice time- we spent just over $50. I think that's pretty awesome. Next time I would probably opt for their take away side and avoid the seafood. I also think, considering that they are a Greek restaurant and all of their food is enhanced with lemon, they were skimpy on the lemon but maybe that's just me.

I've NEVER in 40 years gave a company a bad review but in this instance it's not only necessary…read moreit's absolutely imperative nobody else experiences what our family did last night. We regularly order things online or over the phone for delivery every second Thursday night. Since 'Sea Captain' was listed as 'new' to delivering in our area we decided to try it. It was the ABSOLUTE WORST takeaway / delivered food we have all ever had. Potatoe cakes so much batter you could hardly see any potatoe. It was so dry, overcooked and drowned in salt, the chips were the same. I ordered a 'lamb plate'. Online it said I get small lamb gyros, pita bread, chips, salad and tzatziki sauce(this is on EAT NOW). If I wanted a spicy lamb curry then it would make sense but it's a lamb gyros! I didn't get any salad and no pita bread. The lamb gyros were very spicy, in cubes, with a spicy paste all over it. If they think that's what a lamb gyro is they need to eat one elsewhere. It was so spicy I couldn't eat it, couldn't eat the chips or potatoe cake and the Tzatziki sauce was just a thin liquid. I couldn't even tell if it had anything in it. It was a light white colour that dripped, I was starving so decided to still give it a go and I was beyond shocked. It was so bad, everything we ordered was a complete waste of money, time and we were all so left very hungry. As someone who is disabled, unable to drive, it's not like I could've quickly got in the car and went to a local takeout place which we have loads around here. It didn't help our order had taken over 90mins to arrive. My parents steak sandwiches were just as bad and the worst they've ever had. The only reason we chose them was because the usual place we get steak sandwiches from 'Montana' is closed until further notice. Sea Captain offered this so we thought why not worst case scenario it might be smaller and tougher than Montanas but little did we know how bad it was. In the end my dinner was a minute portion of the meal I ordered because it was so bad and I was worried about food poisoning especially with the tzatziki sauce. My parents on the other hand forced themselves to eat much more than me because when you're having dinner just after 830pm, waiting for AGES, there was nothing else for them to eat. I ate the last banana which was 10 times better than the dinner and thank goodness I had one because it was the only thing to get this disgusting taste out of my mouth. My parents however became quite unwell with the food. We do not want any discounts from 'Sea Captain' because we will NEVER order from there again and we highly advise everyone to get your food elsewhere. There's a reason their menu looks like they offer absolutely everything, there wasn't one single thing that we ordered that was even just a pass. The 'Sea Captain' needs to abandon ship or eat from other take away food places so they know how food should be cooked. We were all in utter shock and completely floored to the extent of how bad our order was. It's disgraceful, might seem 'cheap' but avoid like the plague because having lived here for decades and pretty much have eaten from everything in this area including Bayswater and Wantirna. This is THE WORST food we've EVER had in our entire lives and that says something. Ration packs mre- rehydrated food in the army back in the 70's and early 80's overseas was so much better than what we ate last night and that says something. Eat elsewhere, if a fish and chip place can't even make chips or potatoe cakes let alone the rest, then there's something seriously wrong. I'm writing this in hopes someone else and their family can avoid the beyond awful experience we had with them from the time they answered their phone. If I could give them 0 or a negative score I would.

We arrived without a reservation and when they said we could only have the table for a 75min before the next booking would arrive I figured that was a very good sign! Golden Duck is popular and for good reason. The service was very good, efficient yet friendly. Our tea was replenished, our dishes appropriately paced and little touches of traditional Chinese silver service made this a great experience. We ate seafood lettuce cups and xiao long bao to start before tackling a half portion of Peking duck. Served as 8 slices (with pancakes and accoutrement), two crispy legs and a basket of steaming fragrant duck dumplings, this was exceptional value at $29. We also had (mildly spicy) Sichuan Chicken and some fried rice that came loaded with Bbq pork and prawns. It was all fresh and delicious and between the three of us it was a very decadent feast. At $130 for three people (with no alcohol) it was a little on the spendy side, but we ate very well and really enjoyed a dining experience that isn't so common in this part of Melbourne. Would happily come again!

The sour soup was hot and sour and really quite good. Main course omelette was tasty and... deep fried icecream just had to be done! The dining area looked grubby with food spilt under a nearby table in full sight ignored by the staff there. It doesn't take much to keep the place clean when you've got customers, even at the end of the night.
