It can be hard at first to find just what you're looking for, as the place is piled from the floor to the very high ceiling with a huge variety of things. However the owner always knows exactly where to find anything, be it pet food, casserole dishes, nails & screws, paint brushes or a garden spade! I personally have bought a sledge, snow shovel, huge planters, garden chairs and a cat scratch post there. There is always a good display at the top of the steps, above the entrance, showing examples of the goods to be found within, and in spring and summer you can get decent sized plants, such as tomatoes or peppers.

Happily, I encountered no such problems at Tyrannosaurus Pets, an 'exotic' pet store that stocks lizards, snake and amphibians. Quite aside from having one of the best pet shop names ever, this shop is a credit to its trade with a shiny, modern shop floor; helpful, knowledgeable staff and - most importantly - spacious, clean vivariums filled with content animals. When I visited I was quite open about the fact I'd just come for a gawp, but the staff treated me as if I was a paying customer, and told me lots of stuff about the logistics of keeping lizards and snakes that I'd never heard before, despite pet shop loitering being something of a habit of mine. If you're thinking of buying an unusual pet or already own one and need to stock up on accessories, this is the only place you should need to go in Leeds.

Bark's Pets is a local pet shop located in County Road. This is also the biggest pet shop in County Road and one which has a decent variety of well looked after pets, accessories and food. The staff are always friendly and willing to help although at times you need to be patient before you get seen to, as it does get busy on occasions. If you are a lover of pets, this is a great place to come for a browse and be able to obtain tips and advice from knowledgeable staff. Personally, I have been to places that sell a wider variety of fish but if you're after reptiles or spiders for instance, then this is your Aladdin's cave!
