The best sunbeds I've ever been on. The staff are so lovely and the prices are so good!

I don't tan, I come out in a rash…read more As such, I tend to avoid too much sunlight, and as a result I am about 10 shades whiter than a ghost. It's all true. You can see my veins. In any event, a very important day is coming up in a week or so, and as a result, I thought it would be jolly if I had a healthy glow, and hoped that some exposure to UV rays would stop me rashing away whilst on the extra special holiday (my honeymoon to the classy costa del sol!) I decided to visit The Tanning Shop as it's a nationwide chain, and I didnt fancy going into one of the un-manned, coin operated sun booth shops (such as those places which have appeared on the news, having cooked a couple of naive teenagers). I was greeted by a reasonably friendly girl, who exuded a healthy orange glow. I had to fill out a questionnaire to deduce my skin type, and so that she could recommend the best sun bed for me. As it turned out, the best sun bed for me was the Sun Angel. The most expensive one. To be fair, it is rather swish. The sun bed has a comfort cooling system, and adjustable face and body fans. It also has a a aromatherapy mist that spurts out every couple of minutes to make you extra cool and refreshed. There is also a very loud, aggressive voice guide which starts to grate after a while, but for those with poor vision, is very useful indeed (i don't wear my glasses on the sunbed, in case they channel the UV rays and burn me like an ant). Anyway. After two trips to the Sun Angel, I visited again on Tuesday. I burst in the door and said, 'I'm getting married next week. I need to be brown. I have been on the sun bed twice. Why am I not brown?' The orange girl tutted, and explained I needed a couple more sessions, as two really wasnt enough. I ended up buying 5 sessions for £40, which saves you £10, and after my 3rd baking session, I can really notice a difference. Although the Tanning Shop is not the cheapest venue, at least it is manned by friendly, helpful staff, who do have some idea of what they're talking about, so it is perfect for those who have had no experience of non-sun-bathing. Hurray for me, and hurray for my day-glo skin!

At Renaissance Hair in Leed, I received what can only be described as five star client service! I was late for my appointment and they were so accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Liz stepped in to cut my hair which was a restyle and she did a fantastic job, providing exactly what I asked for and it's a long time since I walked away from z salon with a genuine smile on my face. They are a little pricey, but I didn't mind paying as the cut, and their treatment of me was worth every penny. I will definitely be back soon. Give them a try, I'm convinced you'll also walk away happy!!! 10/10 from me!

While living in Leeds, I've flitted from salon to salon on a budget, never really ending up completely happy with my haircut or hairdresser. One day after looking at Google reviews, I decided to give Renaissance a try, and boy am I glad I did! I was booked in with George, who asked me loads of questions about what I wanted, what I did and didn't like about my hair, how I style it, etc. George was really friendly, offered to get me a drink (including wine or beer - how good is that?!), and just completely made me feel at ease. I was really happy with my hair when George had finished - it looked exactly like I had in mind. I've been back several times now and been really happy each time, it finally looks like I can stop flitting from salon to salon! It wasn't expensive either, though I think it's recently increased to around £34.

This cute little beauty salon is situated in The Grand Arcade, which despite its desolate vibe,…read moreactually has a few gems inside. With Roots and Fruits, Upstaged and the infamous Trophy Shop, Hands Tanned is a nice addition to the collection of day time businesses inside. Hands Tanned do everything you could ask for in a nail bar. As you will see from their displays they sell a number of different and varied 'nail art' bits, at the moment for only £10 too. Dazzling! They are also selling varnish for £6 and have some delightful colour options. As well as nails Hands Tanner fit semi permanent eyelashes, which I must admit I'd be a bit scared to have done, but it sounds pretty interesting! Finally, they also do bikini lines, including their advertised 'heart shaped' bikini lines which are now available... I shouldn't think I'll be rushing in for that, but you know - it might be an interesting Valentine's gift for some, I suppose! For all the above, and more, visit Hands Tanned in Leeds city centre.

Well where do I start?…read more My boyfriend bought me a gift voucher for Hollywood lahes (worth £85), on the hollywood lashes leaflet it states a patch test is a must at least 24hrs prior, so I tried ringing no answer so I left messages no response, this went on for around 3 days, so I decided to go in and book a patch test. When I arrived at the salon the lady who dealt with my request for a patch test said "there is no need for a patch test" and basically they didn't have the time!! On the day of my apointment I was running a few minutes late so called 15mins before my apointment to let them know she replied "it will come out of your time!!', so at this point I had a feeling it was gonna be a rushed job! When I arrived she said ''we can do all the paper work after''.. ie allergies etc(very professional I thought) So I lay on the treatment table for my lashes to be applied... all going well, 45mins later she has finished.. (or my time was up) hollywood lashes take at least 1hr to be applied correctly.. As I went to sit up my hair is stuck to the treatment table with glue!!! she spent 5mins scraping the glue off and trying to free my hair without having to cut it out..(no apologies) So I look in the mirror and notice on one eye that theres no eye lashes in the corner, I told her so she quickly got me on the bed to put a few more lashes in.. When I got home I noticed the ones she rushed to put in was not applied the correct way so now have eye lashes that look so stuck on its unbelievable!! To some this salon up: customer service is poor, the treatment I had was poor, the salon was cold and un inviting...
