I would definitely recommend Hollywood Nails! My first visit to Hollywood Nails was two weeks ago, and I purposely waited before writing a review until now so that I could also comment on how well my nails lasted. The verdict: Perfectly!! I called and made an appointment for the same day. When I arrived, I was told to pick out my color and seated immediately. After about five minutes, the gentleman started my manicure, doing everything except the gel color. He was thorough but gentle, gave my nails a great shape (I prefer squared), and it was the most painless cuticle trim I've had in years! Both he and the female employee were friendly and made small talk. He massaged my arms BEFORE my nails were painted, and then asked me to go to the bathroom to wash my hands, something I haven't experienced in other salons. Once he was done, the female employee, who had just finished another woman's nails, jumped in and painted my nails with gel color quickly and perfectly. In fact, I've never experienced such a fast manicure!!! She was AMAZING!!!! The gel manicure cost $40, which is exactly what I pay at the not-super-fancy salon I go to near my home in San Francisco. I see some other reviewers have complained about the prices. I would urge them to recognize that there is a much higher cost of living on Martha's Vineyard than many other areas of the country, and the folks who work at this salon have to pay their rents, too. Hollywood Nails is WHEELCHAIR-ACCESSIBLE. There are two doors to enter through that are exactly at sidewalk-level, and once inside, there is definitely room to maneuver your wheelchair around. The bathroom also felt roomy and wheelchair-friendly, which isn't typical on this island. The decor is pretty, feminine, cozy, and clean. The ornate wood moldings and crystal chandelier fixtures give the environment the perfect amount of fancy, and unlike many nail salons I've been to over the years, this salon doesn't feel cluttered. The first time I got my acrylics here I think I was just too nervous and squirmy because it was the first time I ever got them done. I didnt like the shape but I think I was moving too much. I had the pleasure of having a manicure and pedicure yesterday. The salon was immaculate, each station was outfitted with plastic dividers to protect from the Covid virus. The staff was friendly and professional. The atmosphere was so convivial, with clients interacting with each other and the technicians. My nails look beautiful and I left feeling pampered. This nail shop was one disappointment after another. They don't do designs although that's what their profile pic advertises. Anything you ask them to do they huff and puff literally right in your face. They don't ask you how you want your nails painted they just do what they want. I was getting French tips and the owner painted over more than half my tip. When I immediately asked her to do a V tip, she sat their and glared at me and acted like she didn't understand. When I tried to explain and show her she snapped at me and said, "Don't touch your nails." After I explained and explained she finally asked calmly if I wanted a V tip. She knew what I wanted all along. She did make my gel nails thick, and that's what I wanted. They are ridiculously expensive but they can't do anything for you. They get away with gauging your eyes out because they're the main shop on the island. I wish somebody else would open up a shop with lots of employees who gives everything a professional nail salon offers at lower prices. It was 125.00 for my pedicure and manicure. While on vacation in Oak Bluffs my daughters and I wanted to get our nails done. I called and made an appointment 4 days prior. When we arrived we were seated in the chairs right away, but we were there for almost 2 hours getting a mani/pedi gel manicure! (At home, the nail salon I usually go to would have had it all done in less than an hour). No less than 3 people worked on us and the whole process was all over the place. Part of the pedicure was done, then I sat in the chair for 20 minutes waiting for it to be completed. Then they'd do a little more, then more waiting. (They were not that busy). Its been 10 days since my mani/pedi (gel) and already 2 of my nails have just SNAPPED off. I have strong nails, and haven't had a gel manicure in over 6 months. Staff was also on the rude side. If you have another option, consider it. They are also cash only, (which is fine), but its not posted nor was I told when I made the appointment so I had to leave my girls there and go get $$$. For what I paid for those 3 mani/pedi's I would have expected a LOT better in quality and experience. read more

Not impressed. I'm pretty sure my 8-year-old could've given me a better mani/pedi. My feet were peeling on the bottom from bad shoes and they left dead skin everywhere. Disgusting, I know, but they did little to remedy the situation besides using an ineffective cheese grater. They also failed to remove my nail polish completely before my manicure so I have visible hot pink spots under my peach polish. I got the shellac manicure which began chipping in a day. I was in a hurry so had no time to mess with it, unfortunately. They are overpriced but lucky for them, the only nail salon around. Not for walk ins. No receptionist so any calls are taken by the guy doing your nails. The women don't speak much English. I went in for a fill and asked for a design - the nail tech said yea-- but never asked anymore about it. Really bummed. It was as average as a mall walk in. Get your wax and nails done before getting on the boat - cause the result is barely average. I have to note from the other posts none of the people working here are rude. If you like your manis with a side of microaggression, by all means, get services here. I watched for a full hour as white patrons walked in and were told slots were available for later in the week and Black patrons were told there was a waitlist because they were fully booked. I watched as white patrons were greeted with smiles and banter and Black patrons were told "so you gonna get acrylics or what?" or ignored completely as they stood waiting for someone to help them. The salon triple books slots with multiple clients slotted for the same time and only three people to work on nails. When I pointed out that my simple polish removal (something, for the record, any run of the mill, strip mall salon could do in less time) was taking well over an hour, the attendant rudely said she was only 30 mins behind but if I was in a hurry I could leave and yanked and pulled at my hands while taking the remaining polish off. They only take cash for services (which they don't advertise when booking), not card, CashApp, or Venmo. And my fingertips are practically aching from the rough treatment I received during my services. I did inform the manager/owner about the disparity in service to customers, but he was completely tone deaf. He offered a "discount"... for discrimination I guess??? Do yourself and your nail beds a favor, if you value your sense of self, time, and equity, don't come here. read more

This review is for their location at 40 circuit ave in Oak Bluffs. I walked in there yesterday evening, and scheduled to have a nail polish change for my feet, as well as a massage. I scheduled both for this afternoon. 2 and a half hours before the appointment time, I get a call from the man, asking me to come in sooner. I told him that I was in Edgartown. He said "ok, so you can be here in 1/2 an hour?" I had to be assertive to keep the appointment at the time I had scheduled. At the appointment, the man takes off my old polish badly. The old color is still visible around the edges. The new polish is put on horribly, so that it looked bad immediately after. While I was there, waiting for my nails to dry, 2 other women walk in and are immediately taken in. Then a third woman walks in. The three people that work there barely acknowledged her. Two women were working on the two customer's feet, and t he man was working on one of the customer's hands. The appointment book was right out there, and the woman was asking when she could come in tomorrow. She ended up walking out, not having gotten an answer. The reason I give it two stars is that the massage I scheduled through then was great. A woman named Sharon took me upstairs to a treatment room. I got the deep tissue massage, which I recommend. I didn't realize the place doesn't take credit cards until I pulled mine out. I had to talk back tow here I was staying to get my checkbook. Unless you want a massage, stay away! read more

This place scams you to get you in by saying you have an appointment but when you show up they say you made it for an hour earlier. You're there, with no appointment and they assume you will just wait. I learned this in August 2017 but assumed it was an honest mistake. DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS ESTABLISHMENT I had the WORST experience at Hollywood Nails. After reading in a Martha's Vineyard magazine that it was rated BEST nail salon on the island I was excited try it out. Never has a magazine been so wrong. When I arrived I waited 20 minutes until they took me. After I was finally seated at the manicure counter one of the employees started messaging my arm, fooling me into thinking my manicure would start soon. Instead they moved me from the manicure counter to the pedicure chair. I waited in the chair for 45 minutes until someone showed up to start my pedicure. But 5 minutes into the pedicure the employee left!! After 2 hours I had to speak up and ask someone to attend to my pedicure ( I got gel... but it should never take that long). While sitting in the pedicure chair I witnessed the OWNER of the Hollywood Nails YELL at 3 different clients. HE WAS SO RUDE. Never should an employee every yell at the customer! I was thinking about calling the gentleman out but thought better of it since my nails were not finished and I still wanted them to look decent. After leaving Hollywood Nails 3 hours after our appointment started, I decided to write this yelp review to let others know how my experience was, in hopes that no one else wastes their time and money at this establishment. read more

I would highly recommend this spa for a pedicure, this is the only thing I had done. They were very busy, many people, but very efficient and my appointment started exactly on time, I arrive everywhere early. They took their time and did an excellent job. Very pleasant and nice. My feet were very smooth and soft, and I had a lot of callouses they removed all the dead skin. Shaped and trimmed , filed my toenails beautifully, they were a mess. The polish lasted without a blemish or chip for a very long long time. It was regular high quality polish, not the extra long lasting gel coat polish. My toenails never chipped, as my toenails grew I trimmed them, the pedicure still looked perfect, finally I had to remove the polish because my toenails had grown and you could see the new part of the nail had no polish on it. To my surprise, the polish removed very easily! It had lasted so long I thought I was going to have a difficult time removing it. They were very good with Covid precautions. They had me wash my hands in a sink with soap dispenser , provided a clean cloth washcloth to dry my hands and provided sanitizer, everyone employees and customers all wore masks and people were distance apart, the shop was very clean. I didn't have extra, so my tip was a little light, but I got big thank you, her eyes told me she was smiling under her mask, and a very pleasant "have a nice day". read more

RUDE RUDE RUDE!!! Please do not state on your business that walk ins are welcome and then be the most unwelcoming employee I've encountered. I came here while in town for a wedding in hopes of getting a manicure. I arrived at 4 pm (their hours are posted as being open until 7 pm) and was greeted by a woman who promptly asked "Can I help you?." I replied with "Yes, I'd like to get a manicure." The only reply I get is "Not today" in a very curt, snippy tone. Ok... So I ask if it would be better for me to make a reservation for the following day. "That would be better, NOT TODAY." Wow. Wow. Further, the entire time this woman doesn't even bother to look up at me. I'm not sure what I did to offend her so greatly in our short exchange. The nail salon wasn't busy, there was one patron drying their nails. The most upsetting thing to me is that this is the only nail salon in Oak Bluffs, so they have the monopoly on nail services in this town. And while I am not a frequent visitor of Martha's Vineyard, if I ever do happen to go back I'll make sure to get my manicure in Philly before I leave. read more

This place sucks so bad it's not even funny. I had an appointment to get my nails done for my wedding. I came in and they didn't greet me and they told me to sit down and proceeded to work on what I assume were walk in clients. If I have an appointment at a certain time, it better start at that time. Not 15 minutes later, not one minute later. If I wanted an appointment at 2:05 I would schedule it for 2:05 if I wanted an appointment at 2:15 I would schedule it at 2:15. And if I wanted it at 2:01 I would schedule it for 2:01. People don't have all day to wait around. They have lives and other things to do. And if you are running behind as a business you need to call your clients and let them know. This is bad customer service. I would know as I worked in retail for 10 years and now own my own PR company. Don't go here especially if you want promptness. I came in to get a nail fixed. My natural nail was broke too short to come off without pain. She said an hour and a half. Because it was the best beach day of August I came back 6 hrs later. The lady remembered me. I sat down. 10 minutes later the man doing a pedicure said that there was no time for me to get serviced so maybe come back later. I suggested that if I did that and someone came in they would get serviced before me, It was 5:49 pm. I asked what time do you close, he said 8.
