HDS deserves 0 stars from start to finish. They wake us up at 6:45am and say they are waiting for an assist to join the driver to help off load, be there in 30 minutes. At 7:30am we call and they say, no we have not left yet, getting the truck loaded. HDS arrives at 10am with no assist required by the shipper notes on the waybill. The driver is a frail sickly man who recently had two broken arms. He is good for nothing, and he should not even be driving in that condition, let alone a truck. He tumbles a palette of 38 cases of glass candles onto the driveway, just throws them there in a messy pile, and leaves. Paid 100s of dollars extra for off load delivery which dispatch said they have no one to deliver the order correctly so just deal with it. Dispatch should work for Donald Trump because they are adept to lies, making up narratives that do not exist and will blame you for their terrible dispatch department money-making deceptions that make HDS look like The Three Stooges. read more

Extremely Disappointed with Uline's Delivery Service Company- Hollywood Delivery Service. I paid extra for inside delivery on a large order from Uline, expecting a smooth and professional experience. Instead, the delivery truck showed up without a liftgate and dropped off seven pallets that we were expected to unload ourselves. Completely unacceptable. While we were scrambling to figure out how to unload everything, I received two phone calls from Hollywood Delivery Service accusing my team of refusing the delivery -- which was absolutely not the case. We were doing their job for them. To top it off, we were told we might be charged for a delay. A delay caused by their lack of proper equipment and planning. I have never directly contracted with this company for services but I continue to get invoiced for a pick up they made at my shop. I have called their Bloomington CA number and exchanged emails with several of their staff (Nancy Orona & Isabel Sandoval) with little difference. I've provide both contacts with backup so they could redirect the billing to the appropriate parties, and guess what? I continue to get bills, but now they say "past due". Nancy no longer works for the company and Isabel has never answered/replied to my email(s). Having been a customer with HDS for over 25 years now, I was shocked and surprised by their handling of my last order and bill. A charge, that has never been charged before, was now added to my invoice - which was already expensive enough. Over the years, we've had a good relationship, for the most part. But this last transaction has left me feeling that my business isn't their priority. Not that I've ever felt like anything but a random customer with them ... albeit a loyal, long-standing one. If you do decide to use them, make sure to confirm each and every single detail with them ... from pick-up/delivery time to pricing - and especially ask if there are going to be any surprise charges. Very bad experience today with the delivery person his name was John. He came to deliver the pallets today and he seem to think that women in their 70s and 80s were going to be able to lift a 400 pound pallet and bring it in the store. We did pay to have it delivered inside the store but of course he wasn't willing to even accommodate the request or think of a solution. Was most annoying about his lack of customer service was his attitude which was exceptionally poor and pompous. I have been working with HDS for about 10 years now. I have been so pleased with the service they provide and have never been let down. I ship about 20 pallets a week with them to docks, to residential, you name it they will deliver it. Their prices are very fair and they do not nickel and dime you like EVERY other carrier. in all my years working with HDS they have always shown up on time for pickups and I have never had to file a claim for damage or missing pallets. they deliver next day and that is always a great feeling knowing i can rely on them when my customers are in a bind. most of these bad reviews are from residential deliveries that don't really know how freight companies work. if you are a shipper in need of local deliveries, you have to use Hollywood delivery services. read more

Would you hire a moving company to haul your belongings and dump them in the street of your new home, claiming that they only deliver to a location, not take anything inside? Of course not. No moron would. Well, please consider carefully when ordering any large items, be they furniture, appliances, or otherwise. Be sure to find out who the freight carrier is and their limitations because the aforementioned is exactly what Hollywood Delivery Services will do for you. My company recently ordered five office chairs from Beverly Hills Chairs which were shipped with HDS. The first order that arrived contained the wrong color chairs and was delivered to the parking lot of our building. The driver would not bring them into the building or up to our suite. The second, corrected, order of chairs was delivered in the same fashion; Left on a palette in our parking lot. Our staff had to physically go down to collect our delivery because the driver said that he only delivered to the building, not inside. Even after telling him that I wanted to speak to the delivery company to ensure that this was actually the case, he simply climbed back into his truck and drove away leaving our delivery unattended in the lot. These guys suck! One of my suppliers has used them to deliver to me twice now. They always take one day longer than other delivery companies, their trucks show up after hours, and their communication is poor to non-existent. When your delivery doesn't show up you're stuck calling them (they'll never call you) and you have to deal with bitchy people who clearly field calls from lots of angry customers. 2-3 days to deliver a pallet across L.A. What a joke! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! Update one year later, my supplier continued using HDR, it's now taking 5 days to get a pallet 60 miles across LA. HDS picked up the product from the factory and never called me. Called factory who contacted HDS. Was told a problem with my phone number, does that mean HDS just sits on it and waits for someone to call about their product. Spoke to HDS female who cut me off every time I spoke. Told her two delivery locations. She argued and would not listen without an email from factory. She called back and apologized but continued to cut me off when I spoke. Received the delivery which was timely and not damaged and the delivery man was nice, reason for two starts instead of one. One delivery man for a 1000 pound item. Paid for delivery into the garage. Wife and daughter had to help him. Maybe the holidays, maybe the pandemic but HDS fell short. read more

I use HDS for business to business shipments and have found them to be pretty consistent in an industry that tends to not be very consistent. Many of the low ratings seem to be business to home deliveries, posted by the homeowner. A majority of HDS customers are businesses with regular loading/receiving hours, loading areas, forklifts, etc. Drivers like to get in/out fast. If you are not a business and need UPS Ground-type customer service I would recommend using another company that is more geared to residential deliveries. For business to business shipments, they are efficient. The phone manner of the dispatcher on any given day is not a big concern to me as long as the trucks show up and keep our freight bills low. read more

I don't normally take the time to write reviews, but in this case I felt compelled to do so. My supplier informed me they utilized HDS for the transportation service, they also advised I need to contact HDS with my address to obtain shipment status. While I was getting HDS's website on the computer, I noticed several negative reviews on Yelp. needless to say, after reading them I was quite surprised, disappointed, and concerned. I contacted HDS with reluctance. The woman that answered the phone was quite pleasant and helpful. Not what I expected from the reviews. She gave me my status and advised because this was to be delivered to a residence, the delivery needs to be scheduled. She then transferred me to the scheduling dept. This woman, also was very pleasant and polite. Again, quite a contrast to the reviews. She advised the delivery would be the next day between 9AM-12PM. The next day the delivery arrived at 9:12 am. I asked the driver if he would drop the pallet at the barn. (2 acers away) He also was very friendly, pleasant, and had no problem doing so. I am perplexed as to why my experience with HDS is completely opposite of the "Yelp" reviews, a real mystery. To sum up my experience with HDS, Every person, both in the office, and in the field was professional, polite and friendly. The shipment moved through their company like a well oiled machine. Bought some stuff from Home Depot and they used this company for my delivery. The girl on the phone seems to be on a rush to get you off the phone. I didn't get the sense of customer service. But Thats not the big issue. The girl arrange a time between 12-3 pm the day prior with me. The delivery guy came at 11. Nobody was home at that time for the apparent reason , so he called and threatened that I had 15 mins to come home otherwise he'll leave. I informed him that the ETA was between 12-3 and he argued that he wasn't told that . Well even after I explained to him that this was arranged just yesterday at that's the time I was given. We schedule a delivery of a fringe to our building. On the delivery day, the diver calls us to inform that he wasn't able to find the building. We send the location to his cell phone using google maps to his cell, and we ask for him to contact us if he had any question. The diver, Gil, never message us back and 15min later we received a call informing that no one was at the location and that we had to pay a second delivery fee. On the next day, the driver returned to deliver the fringe and he requested an additional 100USD cash on top of the second delivery fee to move the fridge 100 ft. from the loading dock to the outside door of my building. We call customer service to try to solve the issue. They inform us that we need to accept the delivery at the loading dock or they would charge us a third delivery an addition 150 USD for an inside delivery since the driver missed inform them that we wanted an inside delivery which was not the case. He was not required to enter the building, and we only asked him to move the fridge 100ft with his dolly to the front door. In the end, we had to push the fridge our selfs. This company has no customer service, and this driver wanted to make additional money off the books for 10min of work. read more

My experience with this company and their customer service was the most despicable service encountered. A woman named Amanda left a message on my phone about a bed delivery. When I spoke with her about the delivery I was NEVER informed that the bed was coming in boxes and I had paid for a complete set up. When the bed arrived the next day in boxes and not set up, I called Amanda and from there it was a complete nightmare. She informed me RIGHT AWAY I was pronouncing her name wrong and I was only going by what name was left on my message manager. She was absolutely rude, abrasive, disrespectful and would never shut her mouth long enough for me to even speak. My tone was becoming escalated because she wouldn't shut up and continued to speak OVER ME! I told her she was acting like an asshole and she became even more abrasive, rude and asked me not to cuss at her. She continued to make fun of everything I was trying to tell her in a very condescending manner. I never understood the process of how we came about the delivery in boxes and neither would she take the time to listen to me and walk me through the process. The driver was doing his job and the dispatchers that I spoke with waiting for the bed were very kind and always respectful. BUT AMANDA! WOW is all I can say. I've worked in the medical field for all my life as a professional and have dealt with disgruntled and obtrusive people, but she WINS THE AWARD for being the worst. If I were in upper management, she'd be fired in a heart beat not to mention, if she worked in my field of professionalism, she'd be GONE! Tread on light water with this one. Ordered a spa cover and was promised delivery by 3/15/17. Hollywood Delivery Service (HDS) finally delivered 5 days late, on 3/20/2017. When I called to find out what happened to my cover the receptionist begrudgingly performed a little research but, not until she realized I knew the date it originally reached their dock, (provided by merchant San Diego Spa Covers). HDS informs me the item was mis-loaded on a truck going to a different region and it was discovered by the driver, returned to dock and would be shipped Monday morning. So, HDS gives me a delivery window of 6:00 - 8:00 a.m. and I request they call me in advance of arrival. At 7:35 a.m. with no call, I hear a truck out front and sure enough there is a guy standing in the street with the cover. As I open our gate to access backyard I asked, "why didn't you call in advance". The delivery guy claims yes, he tried to call me and "the phone rang and went to a fax line". I knew this was a blatant lie, my phone was at my side all morning and I don't have a fax line connected to it. So I asked him, "what number did you dial"? He repeats my correct number without the area code. I respond, "area 858, right"? He says, "oh no, they gave me area code 619". Seemed like a legit enough explanation until he handed me my invoice reflecting the correct area code and phone number in, not one but, two separate places on the document. Now I'm irritated and call him out saying, "my phone number is printed correctly on this document". He had no come-back, he was trying to cover his butt because he never called. Adding insult to injury, I have a large skid mark on my lawn where the dude dragged the box across the grass and leaving a bare spot to the soil. *Thanks so much*!!! I don't know how companies like this stay in business. The woman that left a message was knowledgeable and professional when I called back to set up a delivery day and she issued an arrival time window. The truck driver was professional, friendly, and careful with bringing the pallets to our front door and helping me to hand carry them into the residence. These guys are total jerks. I ordered a recliner chair through a San Diego distributor, and they use this company for deliveries. I live on a fairly narrow street, but large trucks (not 45 footers) come up here all the time, and I have had many large items sent here before. They delivered the recliner, with a medium-size truck that had no logistical problems, but it wasn't what I wanted, so I set up a return. After delivering the item, and presumably knowing what my street looks like, they refused to make the pickup, after agreeing to do so, on the ground that my street is too narrow. They certainly could have arranged for a smaller truck to do this, and since there are many narrow hillside streets in Los Angeles, you would think they would consider this before accepting an assignment. Even without this problem, there are much more accommodating delivery services around. HDS only delivers to your "curbside," at their base rate. If you want them to carry your order up a flight of stairs, or any distance to your door, there is an outrageous surcharge of between $300 and $400. Other delivery services will take your order to the room you want it in, for free, or for less than $50. HDS won't even take the cartons with them, or the pallets. You can easily find a better company. read more

I am always so impressed with Costco's association with different companies. I think, Wow, Costco got it right and they did the research for me. I love it! But then I met this company. I spent thousands of dollars on garage cabinets and the delivery company is the worst! I believe I put my cell number as the point of contact, they still kept calling my house. When I finally got ahold of them, they were extremely rude. Miranda (ext. 102) was the one who called and I said "oh I was wondering when I was going to get a call" and she snapped at me and said "Well we've been calling and leaving messages for days". I was taken back by her rudeness. Then I scheduled the delivery for a day and arranged to have my mother there from 8-10:30am and my husband from 10:30-12:00am. They told us they would give us a 20-30 min lead call. We hadn't heard anything by 10:45am so I called the company. I spoke to Miranda, who once again was extremely rude, and she said "yes, it's being delivered today", then she transferred me to a guy (James?) without telling me she was transferring me. I asked to confirm that it was still being delivered before noon and if we had an estimate of the time so my husband knew when to leave work. The man was rude as well and said, "well we told you it would be delivered by noon and so it will be delivered by noon". I said, "yes, but I was hoping to know since we didn't get a 20-30 min call yet". He said, "well because he still has another 15 min before he could call you can't he?". I said, "ok, well I just want to check because my husband is going to leave work and we just wanted to confirm everything since we didn't get a confirming phone call the day before or anything". He said, "we said it was going to be delivered by noon and it's going to be delivered by noon". My husband left work, stayed at the house until around 11:45am when he received a phone call from the company which told him that they never put the cabinets on the truck and it wasn't going to be delivered. I called Miranda back and explained that I was very frustrated, not because mistakes happen and that it wasn't put on the truck, but that she and the man were rude to me when I called to confirm and they told me it was going to be delivered, when in fact they didn't know and they didn't even check. Miranda continued to argue with me instead of apologizing and trying to find out what she could do for us. I asked if they could give us 1 hour lead time this time and she said she could do that. Well, it is now the day they are supposed to deliver it, they only gave us 30 min (but heck at least they gave us some lead time) and then when they delivered the item, they literally left it in the street! We cleared a space in our driveway and in our garage (in case they wouldn't set it in our garage). My mother asked if they would at least put it in our driveway and they literally dropped it in the asphalt. I don't even know if it is touching the curb. To me, that isn't even curbside. I am so extremely frustrated and wondered why I ordered this through Costco and dealt with this company. I looked up this company and the first google result is Yelp reviews complaining with 1-2 stars. Everyone is complaining of the same thing. The customer service is terrible. It's not even that they are bad at their jobs, it's that they are RUDE! They complained to me that they have too many deliveries and mine is just one of them.
