The storefront is closed and is for lease. My husband bought a used trumpet and brought it there to be repaired. Guess we lost his trumpet

Alder Creek Music is my recommendation to you if you or someone you love has a band instrument in…read moreneed of repair. The owners are expert musicians and craftspeople that will have your instrument adjusted and in tip-top shape in a reasonable time at a reasonable cost. Alder Creek also sells and rents instruments. You can't go wrong - these folks will stand behind what they sell, and provide the knowledge and support you'll need.

This isn't the first time I've left there wondering what has happened in her life to make her so miserable? I took a rental in to be looked at because one of a key's wasn't closing. As I was inquiring about the issue I started to sense an attitude from the female clerk. Maybe I as a customer gave up those rights of inquiry when i signed the rental agreement (?). So, I with a little annoyed inflection in return inquired about her unnecessary attitude. Her loud and scolding retort informed me it was because she was out at the counter while 'he' (the owner) was in the back eating dinner and that this was the second instrument that I've brought back for repairs due to dropped damage! And that I was given a big break on the last repair! So my loud and excited reply was to apologize for stopping in during normal business (and apparently) dinner hours. I also apologized because I didn't realize and show my appreciation for the "big break" I got on the last repair! I also apologized and was very sorry that I rented many instruments from them over the course of years for our daughter and son... and that I would be sure to inform others of my unpleasant experience. Customer service - and honestly human decency - is just severely lacking. Our son won't even go in there to purchase reeds or other supplies anymore because this lady has been so miserable when we've stopped in the past. Perhaps this damage was our fault - perhaps not, however, does understanding the depth of the repair and the cost seem an unreasonable request? We've spent so much money there through the years, it's unreal how we've been treated when we came in for a repair request. The owner did come out to address the situation and although we've found him to be decent in the past, he didn't apologize for the terrible treatment by his female clerk...and that is failing at Customer Service 101.

No reviews for Matt's Music?! How? Why?…read more After acquiring my rented violin from Monaco's, I decided I wanted to do lessons. My parents agreed that providing me with basic lessons at Matt's Music would help me get my feet wet. Did I really want to play the violin? Hopefully I would find the answer quickly. You get an hour (I believe this still holds true) of your teacher's time for twelve dollars. This was the price from my youth, so I almost guarantee prices have gone up since then. Essentially, you can learn any instrument that your heart desires. I've seen people tote guitars, sheet music for piano, flutes, trumpets... This place has about fifteen rooms and is amazing. I've been in almost all of them and my mind plays back the design of this store frequently. Every Saturday I would lug my violin to Matt's, chat with all the other musicians in a small waiting room, and play my heart out. I started in the basement. That was typical for violin players, as it's much easier to bring down a violin than a grand piano. My first teacher was amazing and beautiful. She played for years, performed with her violin at her own wedding, and really helped move me forward with the violin. I was timid in the beginning, but I immediately grew to love my teacher and enjoy every class with her. She moved out west for a time and I got a new teacher. When my first teacher left, I lost interest. That's when I made the switch out of Matt's for a more advanced teacher at Monaco's. However, I accredit Matt's Music for building up the basics in the first place. Several years later, when I was performing for All State, I came back to Matt's to practice with my accompaniment. My pianist was amazing and wonderful and I was so pleased that Matt's was able to suggest her in the first place. She helped me with the pacing of my piece and played wonderfully when I performed in front of the judges. That 99 from All State... one of my favorite memories from high school, for sure. I've never been so proud of myself for performing so well. And with a good pianist to boot! They provide rentals and have a good selection of beginner books for the boy or girl learning to play an instrument. They also have a summer festival where everyone who has played with Matt's for the year can perform a piece in front of all the families! There's about a hundred people that show up for this event and it's the first taste you get of performing on a stage. I'd recommend Matt's to anyone! Although all teachers aren't perfect by any means, it's a great place to develop a passion for an instrument. Once the passion is developed, there's no telling where you and your instrument can go.
