There's a line from Harvey, one of my all-time favorite movies about a man and his imaginary six-foot bunny friend, about people coming into bars as strangers and leaving as friends. That's also, for what it is worth, been my experience at Music City Buffalo. I went in there originally for voice and guitar lessons after getting frustrated with my lack of progress on my own. The lessons--particularly voice lessons with Carina, store owner Vince Mastrantonio's partner--were helpful, and built a relationship that made me trust them enough to buy instruments (people in the business can be kind of shady, and so this is important to me). Vince will work with you (within reason, of course) on prices, and I've now picked up three guitars from MCB. (If you are a Gretsch fan, there is hardly a reason to go anyplace else.) I've also had my upright bass set up there, picked up a used amp, have another guitar repair planned, and will be back for guitar lessons with Vince--an accomplished guitarist himself, which is always a bonus in a teacher--likely this summer. I've always been happy with the turnover, the pricing on purchases and repairs, and the quality of the work. We've also taken to seeing their three-piece jazz-noir band, Carina and the Six-string Preacher, around town. They're cool people who like engaging with the crowd, and I think that's a good way to sum up Music City Buffalo as well. read more

Awesome service. Great products. I have taken lessons from the owner, Vince, for years. I could not rate this place any higher. It has that old-school store vibe, but all the latest and greatest in everything. So much better than buying from a corporation and not seeing where your money goes. Prices are always as low as Musician's Friend or any online retailer. Great selection of used gear in the back room. Service is great because all the employees are actual musicians and not college kids looking for part time jobs like the competition has. Keep the locally owned dream alive! The neck of my bass was bent beyond anything i could fix myself or the truss rod could compensate for. I brought it to Music City hoping they could rescue my bass. Vince did a truly phenomenal job at straightening out the neck again and setting up the bass to perfection. And everything for a real affordable price. It plays as if i have a brandnew bass again and actually seems better than i ever remember this bass feeling or sounding. I am extremely happy I left my bass in their expert hands. Great job guys, thnx! Their store also looks beautiful and they have a real impressive collection of top class instruments. They are extremely knowledgeable and very friendly people. This is truly the place to go to for musicians that need to have their instruments fixed and set up or are looking for new gear and need some expert advice. This music store is a Buffalo icon. I've been going to see Vince whenever I needed a guitar repaired or set up. The store has a great variety of equipment and sells Rickenbacker, Gretch and G&L. They've got a great selection of acoustic guitars to chose from also. Prices are on par with the big box stores, plus they actually know about the gear they sell.
