We have got good service and quality repairs in the past. However when my dad recently took his shoes in for cleaning and shining We ended up with black stains on our carpet. We took the shoes back 3 times, unfortunately the woman who works there after wiping them down with a dry rag so they were fine so we brought the shoes home and then once again had black stains on the carpet. My mom went back a third time and was told it was not their fault but our fault. I went in a fourth time and was told to come back a fifth time so that I could talk to the man who "repairs shoes ". He was extremely defensive, said it was not his fault and that I said Sue the shoe polish company that he buys his shoe polish from. At one point he walked away from me saying "f-ing people". I see Gail P's review and others below, they are not lying I dropped off a pair of athletic shoes to glue the heel almost a week ago. They were to be ready today but they hadn't even begun the work. The woman apologized halheartedly but I asked if she could make it work she looked away. PATHETIC, beyond pathetic I will NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER them AGAIN. I am very sorry that I have to write this, but my experience at this store was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. I brought my husband's Ecco shoes in to have the soles repaired. The man told me that the heels could still be used, because they had plenty of wear left in them. My husband picked up the shoes 10/25/11 and was charged $32.00. After wearing them for 2 days, the sole on one of the shoes completely separated from the shoe and flapped open about 6 inches. I brought the shoes back in today (11/18/11) and was told by the same man that he would not repair the shoes or refund my money. We discussed the issue for about 15 minutes. I could not and cannot understand why he would not at least repair the shoes. I know we don't have many choices for shoe repair in South Denver, but avoid this business!!! read more

This is the worst shoe repair and business that I have been to since I have lived in Denver. I took my shoes there to get repaired, and each time I went to pick the shoes up according to the store's pickup time, they would tell me to come back again because the shoes were not done. They repeated this four times over a two-week period. The final time, I pointed out that after requiring me to come back multiple times, they still had not completed the repair job. Instead of apologizing, the owner scolded me for complaining, and stated that he had shoes in his shop that had been there a year. I had a pair of black boots that I am in love with and the zipper broke. Rather than shell out so much money for a new pair of boots, I thought I would see how much it would be to have the zipper replaced. It was only $25 and I dropped them off on a Thursday and he had them done Monday (they could maybe get done sooner but I told them I was in no rush). The zipper looks great and matches the other boot perfectly. You would never know it was replaced, and I will likely get a few more years out of these boots! Not impressed with their work or the time frame they get it done on. I brought in two of my favorite black leather boots to get new soles put on, polished and touched up. I brought them in on a Monday and they gave me a slip and told me the next Monday they would be done. I went the next Wednesday so two days after they should've been done and they weren't. They acted like they forgot all about them. So I gave them another week to get them done. I just picked them up and it was $48.00 and no apologies and the Job they did on them wasn't very good and they didn't even put a new sole on the heels of one pair. I was not impressed at all. This place is awful. Be careful about brining anything of any value here...shoe repair or clothing alterations. They rarely deliver your items when promised and nearly ruined a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes. Instead of using the heel tabs that come these shoes, he forced a larger heel tab onto the shoe. Just awful. Hoping they will either get their act together or go out of business. Needless to say, I haven't been back and recommend others proceed with caution read more

Several years ago this shop did a wonderful job of repairing my shoes. However, earlier this month I dropped off 3 pairs of shoes for minor repairs. I was told to come back in a week to pick them up. They had not even been touched by the time I returned. I was told to come back one week later, which I did. The shoes still had not been worked on. Again I was told to come back in a week. I returned 10 days later - and nothing had been done to them. Disappointed, I took the shoes home with me and I intend to find a shop which actually will work on the shoes. I was not given any apology or explanation about why the shoes had not been worked on after being in the shop more than 3 weeks. read more

Unprofessional, unfriendly, and incompetent. Stay away! I brought in a pair of sandals for a simple job: I just wanted to have the leather straps shortened. I was surprised that the cobbler didn't make any marks or measurements--he simply eyeballed it. That would have been fine--*if* he did his job right. He did not. When I picked up the shoes, I asked if I should try them on, and he said no, that it would be fine. I decided not to try them on right there because one, I didn't want to offend him, thinking I was questioning his work. Secondly, I felt that his unfriendly wife, who is the seamstress there, did not want me there for some reason, so I left. When I tried on the sandals, they were still too loose. So I brought them back and politely asked him if he would measure them this time. He refused to. I decided to trust him and left the sandals with him again so he could re-do the job he didn't do properly the first time. When I went back to pick up the sandals, he tried to charge me $10 -- for re-doing the work he didn't do the first time around! I had already paid in full the first time -- why should I pay again, when he didn't do his job properly to begin with? When I told him that I didn't think it was fair, we went back and forth until I calmly told him that I wasn't going to pay $10 for re-doing the job. As soon as he heard that, he grabbed my pair of shoes and held them to his chest, yelling at me to pay. It went back and forth until he ended up yelling at me with expletives and literally *throwing my shoes* out the door, scuffing them op on the concrete sidewalk. It was unbelievable. The owners of this shoe repair store are incompetent, but worse, they're incredibly unprofessional and even outright hostile. I dropped off several pairs of shoes to be repaired in January of this year. It took the shoe repair person several months to complete the first set of shoes, which I was able to pick up in April. It's now June and I still don't have the remainder of my shoes. I was told in April that they would call me when the shoes are ready but I didn't receive a call. I went back today and the lady working said that the shoe guy wasn't there so she couldn't get my shoes for me and that there was no way to find them without him. She asked me to come back on Monday. I am not confident that they even still have my shoes, which is unfortunate because I had to pay a deposit when I dropped them off and have already paid for the other shoes that weren't ready until several months after I took them. I would highly recommend that you think twice before using this shop for shoe repair. Given their track record, I wouldn't trust them with dry cleaning or alterations either. read more

I have had various pairs of dress heels replaced (the tip on the heel) here over the past five years. Typically he charged $10, which I thought was reasonable. This past week I took in a pair of dress boots for the same heel tip. He said they would be finished Wednesday; but when I stopped in Wednesday on my way home from work - the other lady in the shop searched high and low and finally found them somewhere untouched. She was very flippant in saying that the man was out and I could come back on Saturday to pick them up. I did stop back on Saturday and they were ready. She said (again, very sour attitude) I owed $14, which to me is too much for this particular service. I asked if I got a discount due to the delay in completion.... and she said (once again, very rude attitude) $13. I am going to find an alternate place for shoe repair. Had this woman been friendly and even tried to offer helpful customer service, I wouldn't be so hasty to take my business elsewhere. If the owner(s) of this business ready this..... you need to pick up your customer service game! read more

When my favorite pair of Fitzwell Monkstraps needed new heals and soles I did a Yelp search for shoe repair shops in my area, the Park Meadows Mall area. I was in luck, Holly Shoe Repair was just a few blocks away. I read the reviews and with the exception of a single bad review, all the reviews were 5 stars. I almost didn't go to Holly because of the one bad review. I didn't want to take a chance with my favorite shoes, but they were open later than anyone else giving me time to get there from work before they closed, and in the end that was the deciding factor. Well it turns out I made a good decision. The work they did on my Fitzwells was first rate, beautiful craftsmanship. They put on new soles, new heals, padded leather insoles, and buffed and polished them to a high shine all for $55. I call that a bargain to bring my shoes back to life for a few more years. I couldn't be more pleased. I'll definitely be back to Holly Shoe Repair when the time comes. read more
