Hollow Tree. Happy Birthday! ...ISH.......
I understand you are some 700+ years old. I suppose at your age not much excites you anymore, you probably don't mark the days or the weeks or the months. And birthdays and holidays probably don't do much for you. But everyone else seems to think you are pretty special. They continue to visit and take pictures and remark at how wonderful you are, as they look around in awe and amazement.
You are over 700 years old Hollow Tree. SEVEN HUNDRED! That would be something remarkable in its own right if you weren't also this gigantic monster of a lower trunk of a tree that has hollowed out and stands as one of the oldest tourist attractions in the area. People have been visiting you for heaven knows how long but you were certainly the focal point in 1888 when Stanley Park opened. Just think, Hollow Tree, that's 124 years ago now. You were not quite 600 years old then. Oh how times have changed, Hollow Tree. How times have changed.
You've changed too. You got so tippy a few years ago that everyone thought you were going to fall over. Everyone was up in arms about what to do. Some people wanted to just put you away somewhere and not let you remain where you've been for so long. It's not right Hollow Tree, how we treat our elders these days. Disrespectful. But it all worked out in the end. You stand where you've always stood. People continue to love you, you big hunk. read more
