Amazing seafront views and the landing and took off of the harbor seaplanes. Lots of fun things to see and explore. Best time to visit during summer. It's walking distance from the gastown areas.

What a great cruise terminal. This time we stayed overnight downtown Vancouver with the intent of walking to the ship terminal to embark the next morning. We did a dry run on foot the day before we were to board. It was our third time cruising out of Vancouver but the previous two times we arrived via motor coach bus so we never got a chance to explore Canada Place. Canada Place houses a convention center and an hotel onsite, the Pan Pacific and directly across the street is the Fairmont. The day we explored Canada Place there were three cruise ships in port. We noticed the sign indicating where the ship terminal entrance was for cruisers. There's a walkway leading down. It's adjacent to the parking garage and the motor coach pickup and drop off. So morning of we pulled our carryon luggage from our downtown hotel. We followed along with other cruisers many with carryon luggage too. Once we entered the ship terminal we followed the signs to our cruise line check in. There was no wait area. Once we passed security and showed our online boarding pass we continued up the ramp onto our cruise ship. It was a very smooth process. Canada Place has it down pat.

During our last full day in Vancouver, Gayle and I walked towards the water, ending up at Canada Place. This is Vancouver's key trade/convention center and cruise ship terminal. It was also the home of the Canada Pavillion at the Exp 86 World Fair. The key features are its long pier and the white sails with a nod to the Sydney Opera House. Maybe some day we'll board an cruise ship here that is heading to Alaska. This time around we watched a Disney and Norwegian cruise ship leave the harbour, with us waving back as they disappeared down the waterway. We spent most of your time walking down the pier, watching float planes take off and land, commenting on a humorous sign, and reading various displays of Canadian History. We then circled back past the convention center, and back to the street. Our visit to Canada Place turned out to be one of those nice walk hand-in-hand experiences.

Canada Place is Vancouver, BC's premier cruise ship dock. Today, there were 4 large ships tied up on this single pier. They expertly facilitated more than 10,000 passengers, with all their baggage, in disembarking their Alaska adventures by 9:30am. Just 30 minutes later, they began processing another 10,000+ cruisers, with all their luggage, in boarding these same 4 ships for their repositioning voyages to Hawaii, Australia, the Panama Canal & beyond. The Port of Vancouver's cruise terminal at Canada Place welcomes upwards of 900,000 passengers each year.

Unless you're a cruise ship passenger embarking or disembarking here, or attending a convention of some sort, Canada Place doesn't have much to offer you other than: 1) impressive, almost Cyclopean architecture 2) Garganutan vessels moored on either side that make the Titanic look like a dinghy 3) gorgeous harbor views 4) an upscale hotel with a snazzy bar and frequent live music 5) a long walk off an even longer pier (wouldn't recommend) 6) being conveniently located to plenty of dining, shopping and entertainment options So, yeah...no real reason to come here, other than those mentioned above. And if you really needed this final line to determine that this review was laced with a thick coating of snark, try #5.

Marvelous views of the Vancouver Harbour. The Vancouver convention Centre is connected to the cruise port, giving travelers departing in Vancouver to get a nice outside view of this beautiful city.

Passed through the place during an evening walk. Flyover Canada looked interesting but I haven't tried it yet.

It seems like most of the negative reviews for Canada Place are due to bad experiences with cruises, but as a regular tourist attraction this place is amazing. Compared to analogous attractions in big American cities, this area is kept very clean and has plenty of space to walk or sit. You can see the Olympic torch, walk along the water and see the seaplanes take off, or grab a bite to eat. Most hotels are walking distance from here, making it a perfect morning spot.

Awesome place to visit during day or night while in Vancouver... but have to find parking in the area which is pricey unless you find the right parking lot or street parking after hours. So much to see here - this is where cruise ships set sail from (check which days ships sail) - cool to watch the ships dock and set sail. If you are taking a cruise, follow the signs to the cruise ship terminal. There is no picture taking while go through customs are in the waiting area, etc... If just walking around during the day, there is so much to see - Sail of Lights are white during the day and lit up at night which is really pretty. There's a big rain drop across from Canada place - nice artwork. There is also the Olympic Cauldron from the 2010 Olympics and a huge Orca...go check it out!

It's awesome that The Cauldron was part of the 2010 Olympic Games at Canada Place in Vancouver. This place is a cool waterfront spot with events and Canadian vibes. They've got cruises, a convention center, hotels, and more. It's run by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, looking after the port lands and reporting to the Minister of Transport. While strolling there, I wished for more food options, but those waterfront views were breathtaking!

We always have a good time when coming here. Walking around and this time we checked out the Christmas decorations which was fun. Having said that parking can get challenging and pricy around here.

If your cruise sets sail from this Vancouver icon, be prepared to ask for directions. Arrive early and have patience, you will be screened through several customs checkpoints. And just when you think you're about done, the line continues on and on. If you're an American citizen and headed to Alaska, your best bet is to look for a cruise line that sails from Seattle. Or at least plan to stay in Vancouver several days before your cruise date as we did. By far our least favorite experience this past vacation.

Everybody has a word or two that they dislike, for whatever reason. For me, I can't stand the word…read more"iconic". It is SO overused, and often it is used so loosely and inappropriately, that it has lost a lot of its true meaning. We've become somewhat numb to what the word is supposed to mean because it's thrown about so often in describing people and things that, while they might be really swell, they are by no means "iconic". That said, this inukshuk sculpture truly IS iconic. It is THE iconic sculpture and signature piece that, if one had to choose ONE symbol or work that represented the City of Vancouver, this would be it. Proudly standing on a grassy outpost of land overseeing the Burrard Inlet, just to the west of the seawall, halfway. between Sunset Beach and English Bay, this Inukshuk sculpture rises tall, like a monarch on her throne overseeing her realm. This massive granite piece is extremely popular with city residents and tourists alike, and I always see people taking photos of it and by it, regardless of the weather or time of day (it's particularly striking at sunrise and sunset, but at dusk, when it's illuminated by its footlights, it's spectacular! I like how it's illuminated by different colored lights at various nightly festivals during the year). One of the reasons that it's so majestic is its setting, right by the water. In my opinion, this is one of the most successful pairings of artwork to context ever, as its setting here on the water by the seawall at English Bay could not have been more perfect. I see one reviewer gave this landmark a mediocre review due to the fencing erected around the work during the annual fireworks celebration, noting he could not get up close to the sculpture due to the barrier. To this I say, get over it! I applaud the City for protecting this iconic, precious sculpture and appreciating its worth and value by preserving it as best they can. If that means putting fencing up around it a few nights out of the year, so be it. Better that then having it defaced by graffiti or climbed upon by drunken revelers during some nights when there are thousands and thousands of party-goers in this area. I applaud the City for protecting this sculpture in this way. Vancouver has a lot of wonderful artwork to showcase, and this particular work represents and pays homage to much of the City's cultural history and values. Truly not-to-be-missed!

TAKE THE FERRY even if it means a 20 minute wait. Though if I'd not taken the bridge, I'd have missed the amazing view of False Creek and English Bay. Despite being under major construction, there was a nice wide bicycle lane, a raised pedestrian walkway and enough room for automobiles, too. The bridge is a steel truss style, built between 1930 and 1932. It is marked with the coat of arms of Vancouver, "by sea and land we prosper". I think that's cool.

And the Burrard is my favorite by far! It's like the grand dame of the three, for sure! The bridge is stately, of cream-colored concrete, and has a lot of Art Deco flourishes. There are galleries on high for viewing and various architectural embellishments. Underneath the bridge are potted plantings by local gardeners.. What I most enjoy is the view! As soon as I cross under the bridge, I am greeted by the most spectacular view of Kits' Jerico Beach across False Creek, Sunset Beach straight ahead, and water opening up to the ocean, with mountains serving as a majestic backdrop. It's just breathtaking. My goal is to walk the Burrard Bridge sometime in the next month. My family and I walked the Granville Bridge, and the views from on high were stunning. I'm sure those from the Burrard are, too!
