We have lived at Hideaway for over a year. We have been fulltime RVer's going on 10 years and have…read morebeen in 16 plus states. This is the worst place we have stayed in. The price is the only reason we haven't moved. They have a automatic renewal clause and locked us in for another year. Throughout our time there we have been without water for over 25 days. The longest at one time was 7 days. With 3 kids it was very unsettling not having water. After that we started holding water onboard. No onsite management, tenants having to constantly alert the owners about the dumpsters being full. Neglecting the roads when they were covered with ice causing unsafe driving conditions. We personally had to find and contact contractors to come in and salt the roads. The second time they froze tenants had to scrap the roads just to be able to get out to get propane. Several sites have large deep ruts and are unsafe to walk on. After talking with contractors who have fixed water lines multiple times, we have found out that no dirt was screened causing the constant breaking of the water pipes. None of the sites were packed down and the rock properly layered causing people's campers to sink over 6 inches. The asphalt is caving in and crumbling, and the owners were told they needed thicker asphalt to be able to handle the weight of the campers 4" to 6" not 2" to 3". I have personally cut multiple septic pipes for people because the owners left the pipes sticking up out the ground over 2ft, failing to provide the new tenants with the ability to hook up. We have been told since June of 2023 that a pool was going to be installed, they still haven't even broke ground. As well as some recreational areas for our kids. In a nutshell, between the neglect of basic caretaking and the lies they have sold to tenants, I don't recommend this campground. The tenants look after one another because the owners won't. I could go on and on with pictures and texts messages, but I will stop.

We rented a 4 seater sxs for the day. Rode to the eternal flame. Was a great ride there, gps unit…read morethey gave us was a lil slow. Not mountable so someone has to hold it all The time. We got to the flame was there about 20 minutes went to leave and sxs was dead. We were stranded. Had to use sos/911 on phone due to no reception. We ended up be stranded for over 3 hours. Thanks to some other trail riders they got us going. When arrived back at rental we were wore out, mentally. Wondering if we would get stranded again we didn't want to venture out any where else. We asked for 2-3 hours of refund due to machine failure, I figure that's only fair. To this day nothing. So renter beware customer service after they get your money is zero. Spoke to owner and employee few times. Nothing.

Breakfast, dinner, and the packed lunches were absolutely delicious. Every meal tasted comforting, homemade, and full of flavor. We loved it so much that we bought the cookbook so we could bring a little bit of that magic home with us. One of the biggest highlights was Gregg and his staff! You can feel the heart in every corner of this place. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed, and it is clear that he and his staff have poured so much love, care, and pride into creating this experience. Their hospitality made our stay feel personal and incredibly special. Evenings were unforgettable. We ended each night around the fire, looking up to see every star in the sky and even the Milky Way stretching overhead. It was the kind of beauty that stays with you. Then we returned to our cozy cabins, warmed ourselves by the wood burning stoves, and settled in for the most peaceful sleep. The cabin was spotless, charming, and perfectly designed for rest. Between the hikes, views, the atmosphere, the incredible meals, and the sense of quiet, our stay felt truly restorative. It was so meaningful to us that we are already planning to gift family members their own stay so they can experience this place the way we did. If you are considering booking, DO IT! The lake front spots are our favorite and we love that the kids can carry their kayaks into the water on their own. You can rent boats from a local dock 10ish minutes away driving if you don't have one, or you can put your boat in not far and keep it near your site in the water. The bathrooms are relatively clean and hook ups and water are fine. The only complaint we have is that there are tons of ants everywhere. If you drop food, they will find it. Last year they tried to climb up our jacks and get into our camper so we always try to remember to bring any spray. There is a ton of goose poop around the sites by the water but we just use bags we use for the dog's poop and throw it away so we don't step on it.

A steep slope to get in/out and not level. There were a few campsites that looked like people stay there all season (little dog fences, lights, signs in yard, etc.) Overall though the campground is so pretty! A lot of trails to walk. During season you can rent canoes and kayaks. Bev at the front office was super nice and helpful. Called and let us know we could check in early. Would recommend to others but would I would definitely pick a different campsite next time (52) just because of the slope to get in/out and not being level (but the view from this site is beautiful!!)

Our van winding down the mountainside came to this bridge and river gorge opening and PURE HEAVEN..it is absolutely gorgeous. Pulled into the parking area at the base of the bridge area. There is restrooms and plenty of parking with picnic tables and grills. Also many hiking trails lead off from this parking lot. There is a boardwalk down by the water and areas where you can enter the water for swimming. I can't wait to go back here in the summer time. We definitely have to try this spot out. This is an infrequently visited location, mostly savored by the locals. Visitors the Big South Fork NRA are too busy with white water rafting or horseback riding to spend any time enjoying something as simple as this hidden gem. Most visitors will pass this on their way to the Bandy Creek Campground, a popular place throughout the year. But if you're looking for something different, something quiet, something easy, this is your place. IF YOU WANT TO GO, here are some tips to make the best of your trip: When to Go: Go in the middle of the day, about two hours after sunset and two hours before sunset. This area sits in a ravine, so the area will be in shadow early and late, which can make it a bit chilly in Spring and Fall. How to Get There: Take Highway 297 (Leatherwood Ford Road) from Oneida toward the Bandy Creek Visitor Center. Make a left turn about five miles from Oneida, continuing along Highway 297. The road will make a few sharp turns, descending a few hundred feet, and you will see a long, straight bridge ahead. The Leatherwood Ford entrance is near the bridge. What to Do: Enjoy a walk along the riverside trail, fishing on the old bridge, get your feet wet, or you could also take a vigorous hike along the Angel Falls Trail. How Much Does it Cost: Free! Best Tip for Best Experience: Best time to visit Leatherwood Ford is late in the afternoon, about three hours before sunset. Enjoy the waters while the sun is poking out, then take a walk along the riverside trail or Angel Falls Trail. An hour before sunset, leave this site and drive about ten minutes up the mountain to the East Rim Overlook to enjoy the sunset.
