I had to redownload yelp just to leave this review. This place is AMAZING!!! My buddy and I were biking to Myrtle Beach from Colorado and this was our last campsite before the last stretch in. We did a regular campsite right behind bathhouse #2 and let me tell you...10/10 would and will camp here again. Toilets, showers, open spaces, far enough away neighbors that aren't tent camping. That shower after 1300 miles on a motorcycle was THE best. Reserving the spot the day of our arrival was even better. The gal was very helpful and made the booking process so easy. The ONLY thing...it's a bit of a steep paved road, about 1/4 mile, to get from the road to the campgrounds. But, we made it up on our motorcycles and there were several toy haulers up here as well. read more

I came here to do some trail riding with family. Windrock is a huge place and there are so many trails and options for outdoor entertainment and sports for all levels. There are easy up to very difficult trails, there are bike trails, and they even will bring riders up to the top along with their bike. My guess is that my group traveled around 70+ miles over the two days I was there. Now I need to replace a busted tire and a bent rim. The Windrock campground is also quite large and clean. I stayed in a tent site that had plenty of room. The parking is setup to handle visitors with trailers and extra vehicles. The bathhouses are nice and the hot water is plentiful. Overall, I had a great time. The personnel I interacted with were really knowledgeable and friendly. read more

Stayed in a cabin. No clothes hangers in closets. No hooks to hang clothes on. Shower slippery, needs anti slip pads. No hot water, very small on demand hot water tank gave you barely enough for a cup of coffee. No lamps on bedside tables. No paper towels or napkins. No TV in the living room, only in the bedrooms. The trails were great. We will come back again but stay somewhere else for the same price or less. read more

I almost hate to do a review on Windrock Park Campground. It was pretty small when we first started going there, now the secret is out and it's a hot spot. I LOVE this place! Beautiful place with fabulous views of the mountains. An awesome ATV park, wonderful General Store, and the most amazing staff ever! We actually got adventurous this time and rented a 4 x 4, side by side to ride up in the mountains. What an awesome experience! We're pretty old to be trying this for the first time, but soooo worth it (even if I was a little terrified on the "baby trails" Yes, we will continue to make the yearly trek from Florida to hide at Windrock for several days and unwind. It is relaxation at its finest. read more

We had an amazing weekend at the park. Wow the trails are amazing and the obstacles in our jeep were incredible. We stayed at the group camping area and used the bathrooms at the campground. Super clean for an off road park on a rainy weekend. I really expected to see a mess on the bathrooms but they were sparkly clean!! read more

On Sunday, my husband and I were driving back to Nashville from Gatlinburg with his family, and he wanted to get in some mountain biking. Cut to the chase: it was worth it, and he said compared to Oregon's trails they are more aggressively cut and rowdier. If you want to try it, here's how you do it: First, swing by the small general store to fill out a waiver and pay $35 for day use and the shuttle (weekend only). Second, park the car in the gravel lot. Then walk up to the upper shed to rent your ride and get fitted. They were nice enough to let him ride for half a day's price $50. He was able to take the shuttle up twice within an hour and had a blast. Bonus tip: We dropped off his mom, sister, brother-in-law, the nephews and niece at the Children's museum that was only 15 mins away. They had fun for the full hour and then enjoyed the sun and the playground. read more

This was the best choice a solo parent with kids can make! Although the idea of camping in tents is on our to-do list; we wanted to be socially distant during the pandemic. I could not have chosen better. Even if you do not have an off road rig or ATV or bicycle or dirt bike, you can rent a Polaris. Tip: when we arrived there weren't any available. I couldn't find online where it says to call ahead to reserve, but apparently you live and learn! If you are going specifically to rent a cabin this is a great place too! Our cabin was slightly delayed but they cleaned it like nothing I had ever seen. Plenty of parking and playing for the kids. Great WiFi service and close to the store, grill, and trailhead. We stayed in the Poplar View cabin. read more

Three words: Off Road Paradise. ATVs, dirt bikes, Wranglers - all come here for a little adventure. And adventure they get! 400 miles of rough roads and gorgeous views. Oh, yes, I am loving it! There are 150 driving trails ranging in difficulty, elevation and scenery. Gravel trails, rock trails, mud trails. Dirty-like-a-pig Jeep-driving fun. On day we all arrive (NY license plates! Yea!!! NY!!!), it been rained out for 3 days straight - there are puddles, mud, creeks and just general insanity. Perfect! Unless you are experienced off-roader, do not, I repeat, do not take black trails. And note that blue ones get just as difficult after the rain. Yes, you guessed it, even Jeeps get stuck in the mud. Oh, this is so much fun! Make sure to see the windmills and stop for mountain views and wild nature along the trails. Blooming honeysuckle, butterflies that are size of your hand, jungle-looking trees all around, clouds setting in on higher trails - beautiful! read more

We come from Miami just to enjoy this park! Everything is fairly clean and the employees are all very nice and friendly. Off-roading wise, there is a variety of obstacles for everyone to enjoy from smooth rides to challenging trails. We normally get there around 9 and leave around 6 on a good day if we don't break anything! read more

This is a great place! Lots of trails and not that far from the Gatlinburg and Pidgeon Forge area. I visited on a Thursday in July and the park was nowhere near crowded. There were a few Jeeps but more SxS and ATVs. EVERYONE I interacted with was kind and helpful. The employees at the general store were happy to take time and go through the map with me and supplied a handout with some suggested routes to take. There are some rules and regulations to follow but you had plenty of room to enjoy the park. I have a partially upgraded Jeep Wrangler Sport JKU. Nothing too serious but a small lift, 33" tires, and a few other things. Trails are new to me and I came here to get a little experience. Since I needed to drive the Jeep home, have limited experience, and was solo, I came here planning to stick to the easy routes and perhaps a moderate trail if things went well. As another reviewer pointed out, "Unless you are an experienced off-roader, do not, I repeat, do not take black trails. And note that blue ones get just as difficult after the rain." Yep, the green and blue roads/trails, after and during the rain, do get more difficult. The 'easy' G10 road was a nightmare in a couple of spots and when I finally got to a place I could pull over and called the store. They put me in touch with the security team. Patrick was SO helpful and patient with me. He was also kind enough to come out on an SxS to where I was and help me get going again. THANK YOU PATRICK!! Here are a few take-aways from my trip. If you're experienced, then this is probably 'duh' material but if you're not that experienced this might be helpful. --- Operator skill counts. My Jeep was more capable than my skill set was, but I learned a lot and have a much better idea of what to expect on my next trip. --- The park's definition of a gravel road is different than mine. They are not wide stretches of #57 gravel. The 'moderate' trail 2 was in fact easier than a couple of portions of the 'easy' G10. However, the 'G' trails I took were not that bad for the most part and weather was a factor. --- Ask questions about specific routes and understand that a green or blue line on a map doesn't mean that there are no 'rough' spots and the trail is consistent from one end to the other. --- The map app was useful since your position is shown on the map. Be advised that the map download states it's only available for a period of time so I expect I will need to pay again for a map download on my next trip. --- It was difficult to differentiate the trails on certain spots of the map. The map is the same on the app so it's hard to read there too. The paper map is good, and I will have it to study before another trip. --- Some trails are marked better than others. I suspect some trailside markings are missing or hidden under kudzu. read more

I'm thankful for the strict safety standards but was disappointed about the amount of trash in the park. I wish they'd reward everyone for bringing back trash (or something) as incentive to NOT throw it on the trails. Other than that, we had a blast! I loooovveee it here! Mostly because of the windmills, I can stare at windmills all day. Love them so much I want one in our backyard! So my husband brought me here and said that they have the most windmills in the state in one area, I think that's what he said. He was terrified of the small winding roads in his truck, but next time we come he'll bring the atv's. The views are beautiful and so are my windmills!! You do have to pay a small fee for the entrance into the park. And there are different trails all over the park for you to off-road on. read more

We will never come back here. Their service is horrible. Their staff continually harasses guests. When we were broke down they came to yell at us. Didn't even ask if we were okay or anything they could do to help. We have been to many other ATV parks and have never been treated with this horrible service. We haven't even been here 24 hours yet. They are also the highest price trail passes we have ever paid. They charge per person not per vehicle. I would recommend Brimstone over this place any day. read more

Spent an afternoon 1 week ago with our stock Wrangler Unlimited. Even some of the "easy" rated trails provided a modest/ enjoyable challenge, and the scenery was breathtaking. Truly a great way to see the Tennessee terrain. Take along a map , water and dust gear if it is dry. Be prepared for a long excursion( or getting lost/confused) as the place is VAST, and it is so tempting to see what is around the next bend, hill, or trail. We will return but will study the maps and plan our next excursion now that we know the lay of the land so to speak. A incredible surprise was the awesome food served up by the Windrock Cafe /chuck wagon trailer at the trailhead , no need to eat out of the park indeed. So glad we went!! Of note was the politeness and friendliness of fellow park goers and the security/ staff. A safe family venue!! read more

Great trails however terribly (and I mean, terribly!!!) marked! I noticed that a YELP reviewer (from almost four years ago!) had the very same concerns yet those concerns still exist. No excuse for that. There are weeds & ivy covering some of the markers, and in many other areas the markers were missing completely. For an area with numerous trails and is this vast in size, that is not a good thing. Plus....the desk clerk gave us directions that contradicted some of the markers that we were able to spot. We were told that blue trails would have some rocks, could be muddy but were basically gravel topped and very doable for novices. Wrong! Luckily we're not novices but even still, we hit a few spots on that trail that really challenged us too. Sections that were well beyond what any novice could possibly handle. In fact my very experienced brother actually rolled his ATV trying to navigate over a few of the huge boulders midway thru trail #22 because there was no possible way of going around them. Shortly after we righted his vehicle, two jeeps came at us from the opposite direction. Again, not good! Speaking of....... No one told us that the steep, boulder covered and very narrow (blue) trails were two-way (!!!) nor did they let us know that large street vehicles use the same trails as sidexsides and small ATV's. Very scarey when you round an already steep, tight & rocky bend on a blue trail in an ATV and a 4-seater sidexside and see two huge Jeep Wranglers heading straight for you! If they fix the (virtually impossible to locate) signage, accurately explain what you should expect to encounter on each "level" trail and if they properly warn customers to expect two-way and large vehicular traffic on the mountains, it would make this place even greater than it already is. If they make most of their steep and narrow trails one-way, it would be a whole lot safer....and near perfect too because aside from those few (very legitimate) concerns, we thoroughly enjoyed our day and are already planning a trip back! read more

Went here for 2014 fall jamboree! Had the time of our lives however I'm going to give a 4 star rating due to the fact staff was not on the same page with answers to questions. We called multiple times prior to going to event to get some questions answered and everytime we were given different answers to some pretty important questions for out of towners like ourselves. Now that we have been to the event we will be better prepared for the future events that our group looks forward to. Another issue was the event tickets for fall jamboree, the additional charge for the extra events were never disclosed to us, it would have made sense for them to ask us if we were planning on attending the extra events that were being held that weekend instead of leaving us in the dark, we were clueless on where to go and how the process worked.. Again, this was likely due to the huge event so we couldn't be too upset. Ultimately staff made up for this in other areas of our visit, and no complaints about anything after the initial showing up and where to go. Im sure any other time,the process is smooth and understanding. This is one of of those places I hope never goes away. read more

We are from Texas and we were visiting Oak Ridge, TN for a funeral. While searching on line for nearby attractions I cam across a website for Windrock off-road trails. We went on a Tuesday morning. There was only one other family, so we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves (250 miles of trails!) We were driving our stock Nissan Titan with street tires. Nothing special, just a regular daily driver. We chose a moderate trail, assuming the Titan could handle what Windrock described a moderate trail as "mud, water, some hills and rocks, etc." About a mile into trail #22, we came to many large rocks in the middle of the road on a steep incline. After numerous failed attempts to get over the rocks we had to drive in reverse up the steep and narrow trail until we could turn around and head back. We were a little disappointed that we couldn't continue, be we understood that our stock truck wasn't really meant to be out there anyway. It was exciting and I enjoyed it, but my wife was worried the whole time I was going to scratch the truck! We made it out without a scratch (luckily!) The map was a little difficult to follow due to not having many landmarks to use as a guide. Once we got out of trail #22 we went up the windmill trail. The frost on the trees at the top added to the "wow" effect. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery and had fun on the trails. Overall we had a great time and it was an awesome first-time experience. read more
