King Park, which is why I gave this hiking venue a three star review. I took off two stars because the map of the hiking trail is so inaccurate (or, at least, unreadable). I took a picture of the map before starting my hike (I've uploaded it here) for reference as I hiked but it didn't help at all. At first I followed the rock covered road that heads up from the parking lot and veers off to the right. But soon I was disappointed by a dead end. So I headed back to the junction with the main rock covered road, which eventually runs parallel to the dog parks, and continued down the path to the next narrow, dirt trail and tree opening on the right that I thought was the trail as indicated on the map. This turned out to be a beautifully charming green and lush path, replete with enthralling cicada singing, delightful birdsong and gentle inclines and declines which made for an interesting hike. This continued for about a mile and a quarter until I came to an intersection. According to the map, I should have been at a T-intersection, but what I saw was a full on crossroads. I walked a ways down each path to see if any was a dead end but each seemed to be a legitimate trail. Since I wasn't sure which way to go, I headed back to my car. I was concerned my two mile (or so) hike may turn into a five mile (or so) hike and I wasn't prepared for that. I saw only one other party of two bikers heading up the path when I was heading back. This was both reassuring (that I saw other people) and concerning (that I saw only one other group in the hour I was on the trail). Anyway, if you have time to explore, the trail seemed to be well maintained so there is hardly any worry that you'll wander off it (except maybe a false start, like me). And it truly is a beautiful walk in the forest. But the trails seriously lack any kind of markings or signage whatsoever, so be prepared with alternative trails maps or time to wander and explore.

Lakeshore is a wonderful public park situated along the Tennessee River and offering some…read morespectacular views of the Smoky Mountains. I finally got a chance to come here with my neighbor and her toddler on a weekday and I was surprised how many kids were at the playground. However, we never felt crowded here and there are several playgrounds in the park, with one being in a slightly wooded section. Besides children's playgrounds, the park offers extensive greenways, sports facilities, and even, event spaces. Sports facilities include: baseball/softball fields, soccer field and an outdoor fitness center. On my next visit, I'm going to explore even more of the greenways and try to find the steel sculpture in the park called the "Quantum Embrace." Know before you go: 1) Lakeshore is open daily: 6 am - 10 pm 2) Plenty of parking spaces 3) There are public restrooms onsite 4) Events at the park hosted by the Roots & Revelry Group. Some events coming up are Paint & Sip (April 28th) and Mahjong in Garden (May 12th)

They have bathrooms but were all closed up where I went. I asked a local business if they are just open during summer and they said it actually just re-opened last summer. I asked if the rumor of dead bodies was true and they said that yes there were lots of dead bodies found here from jumping off the rocks or getting stuck in the rocks deep down below. But anyways, on the opposite side of the story.. there are plenty of floating docks for people to chill on during summer. Just sitting there listening to the bird was very peaceful.. gorgeous view.

I think it's quite possibly the best in Knoxville. First of all, It's looooooong. This trail earns some stripes for being more than a little tikes loop. You pass through so many great neighborhoods. Its scenic. You see bridges, benches, blooms, brooks, and..what..they got bamboo over here? So many people hop on this trail. It's a great way to meet your fellow runner, biker, jogger, trail lover, neighbor. The only thing I will say is..they could do some more clean up with the unsightly brush. It's odd because there are parts of the trail that are meticulously maintained and then other parts are a hot mess. The overgrown bushes, the piles of cinder, the slush of sticks and leaves is way too reckless on trail as popular as this.

I spent every morning starting at the beginning of the trail on neyland near the new condos and got my cardio in until the end of this greenway. It was an amazing 13 miles. You can only imagine how happy I was to be able to pig out that summer and gain nothing. My formula for the summer was the more cardio = the more food.

Just a hop, a skip and a jump from the Broadway exit off I-40 is the road that leads you up Sharp's Ridge. Beneath the radio/television towers located on the ridge are 4.7 miles of trails, a picnic area and breath taking views of the Knoxville skyline. The trails are nicely maintained and good for beginners. I highly recommend checking out this local treasure one any warm sunny day.

Anyways, when we reached the stream, the Duke made himself a spear out of a long branch that had fallen from a tree. Told Austin to sit down and let his daddy show him how to be a bad ass. Kicked my shoes off and waded out into the stream. The Duke speared two fish right off the bat. They weren't very big, but what do you expect when you're spear fishing next to the Halls Greenway. I'm pretty sure we weren't supposed to do this, but I made Austin build a small fire and I cleaned and grilled the two fish up right there. Slapped them suckers between two pieces of white bread and doused in some Duke's mayo. Me and Austin both enjoyed. Deducted two stars because of the homeless junkies that approached us. Probably wanted a bite of our sandwiches. Still a nice place to go for a walk. #thedukeapproves

Having bike around downtown Knoxville before, I was excited to try out this trail. This one. A…read morelittle more outdoors and rustic. Turns out it might just be a Greenway/nice road bike girly. Area currently has a lot of construction going on but it's pretty well marked. I parked at a church, which turned out to be a delightful little restaurant and brewery. What an amazing way to end a bike ride. Maybe not the best way to start it. But hey, no judgment here. There are also if you porter potties, which were medium level clean and I appreciate them. I went on a Sunday and they were definitely people, but it wasn't overly busy. Lots of children trying out tricks. The problem I have with this trail is that it is short little burst of fun challenges. When I run and bike, I prefer to just get on the bike and go for hours. Just because it's not my jam doesn't mean it doesn't serve a purpose though. And I definitely appreciate it being in the area. There are wood, bridges and stumps, ramps, and other fun little woodsy elements. I definitely think it could be for all ages trying out their tricks. Even had some people walking. If I had more time, I would have explored whether it goes to the road or Greenway. I did a tiny few detours, but they always ended at the road with busy traffic and not a lot of bike lane action. Definitely recommend the spot If you wanna try a little tricks and are in the area. It was beautiful greenery with tons of wildflowers all around. Very nice people.

It is a wonderful place to explore nature and spend time surrounded by beautiful water, trees, and colored rocks. I felt so safe and comfortable while I was there alone, which is something you cannot say for some parks. I would recommend this nature spot any-day for some relaxation.
