Having just returned from The Hollow Bottom, I felt I needed to share with fellow Qypers that this place really is something special. We stayed for 2 nights in the newly refurbished bedrooms, and they really are top standard. Huge beds, pale colours, beautifully furnished, and lots of little extras, such as fruits, water & plentiful teas and coffees. We ate out with friends on our first night, but brought them to us after seeing the menu on the 2nd night! The Hollow Bottom have got absolutely everything for a food lover. From the exotic, Crocodile & Bison to the traditional, Scampi and Ham Egg & Chips. My husband had the local venison which was cooked beautifully and smelt amazing. I had the fresh fillet of Cod which was delicious, perfectly cooked with crispy batter. Both our friends had the English pork fillet with cider and apple sauce, after which they insisted they would drive the 200 miles back from Norwich to have again!
The service and the staff were fantastic, polite and genuinely friendly and interested in what we were saying. They even stopped to have a drink with us once they had finished work (thanks girls!!)
Breakfast in the Morning was a real treat and again the choice was incredible with full English breakfasts to smoked haddock and poached eggs or salmon and scrambled eggs and omlettes. Between the 2 of us, we only managed to sample some of the menu over our 2 days, so we're already looking forward to returning!
After breakfast we enjoyed strolls around the little quiet village. It's so pretty, with idyllic views of the Cotswolds across each field and down each little lane. Bourton-on-the Water is worth a visit as is Winchcombe, neighboring Guiting Power. All in all an excellent get away.
Thank you to all the staff at The Hollow Bottom for a very memorable stay, we look forward to returning very very soon! read more
