The restaurant is very convenient for guests, especially after a long day of visiting the many gorgeous towns in the Cotswolds.
Unfortunately, the food is unremarkable and a bit disappointing.
We started in the gorgeous garden, which seems to be the local watering hole on sunny evenings. 10 or more tables were filled with locals and their dogs- the men all drinking beer and the women wine (sorry to generalize but ...). People all seemed to know each other and were very friendly and welcoming to the guests. A great atmosphere
We started with a baked camembert with crusty bread and salumis. Pretty ordinary but tasty. The fish in my wife's fish and chips and were very greasy and the chips completely tasteless. The boar burger was very attractively presented, but lacked taste and depth expected from a tasty game meat.
The outdoor setting and gregarious atmosphere more than made up for the lackluster dinner. It's likely that going into town to one of the local establishments would not be a significant improvement over the Maytime Inn read more
