Fast forward to April 13, 2019. One of the small straps broke and needless to say, my daughter was distraught. She had taken great care of these sandals, always careful to never get them wet. We were surprised that this happened since Birkenstock has such a stellar reputation for quality. We really didn't know what to do so we decided to go back to the store to see if there was anything THEY could do, repair or suggest a repair place.
We arrived on Sunday, April 28, 2019 and was promptly greeted by the manager named Karen. We explained the situation and she asked us, "Why didn't you buy the leather?" This surprised me and I said I assumed they were leather. She said nope, these straps were synthetic. I explained that we were never told anything was synthetic. HERE COMES THE GREAT PART.
The manager gave us full credit for the sandals and we decided right then and there to upgrade to the "real" Birkenstock's and get the leather sandals. Yes, we had to pay the difference BUT this was outstanding customer service and I couldn't be happier. My wife and oldest daughter will be shopping for sandals soon and guess where we will go?
