I'm in Hollister at the Huntington, WV Mall today and found a faux fur scarf I wanted to buy. They had one on a mannequin in the store with a price tag on it. I took it to the register and the gentleman rang it up for me. The lady next to him asked if I got it from the mannequin and I told her yes. I told her there was one in the store and one on the mannequin out in front of the store. She said," well we can't sell that to you. We've sold out of them. Well, how can you sell out of them if you have two in the store. I asked her why she couldn't sell it to me and she said, well we just can't.
So let me get this straight. You have merchandise in your store with a price tag on it and you can't sell it to a customer with money in hand. I would hope that that is not a store policy and that you just had an employee who doesn't understand the concept of sales and customer service. If it is a company policy to not sell a customer an item in your store because you had a couple of the items on display then someone at Hollister needs to rethink their customer service guidelines.
I work for one of the top rated Fortune 500 companies in the country, who is also top rated for their customer service. We would never think of handling a customer service/sales transaction in such a negative way. Needless to say I will not be shopping at Hollister again. read more
