Before my dad was transferred there, I stopped by there without an appointment to check out the facility. I was immediately greeted and welcomed by the friendly staff and given a tour of the facility. The facility was clean and pleasant smelling. The rooms were very nice and spacious, the shared rooms looked as though the residents had plenty of space, and did not look cramped at all. Once my dad arrived, he was put in a very nice private room with a ton of space. All of the office staff, his nurses and nursing assistants, therapists and doctors have all been very sweet, and do such a wonderful job taking care of my dad. The physical, occupational, and speech therapy my dad receives have been top notch. He had been in another facility a couple months back and the therapy he received was the absolute minimum and didn't help him at all. The therapists at Hawthorne truly care about their patients making progress. The speech therapist, Brittany is so sweet and caring. I get to spend more time with her because I am often there when she comes to his room to work with him on his eating. She lets me bring in his favorite banana cream pies and she stores them in the fridge, so she can feed him when working with him on his eating, instead of the usual apple sauce. When I to go to the therapy gym, it is very busy, and all the therapists are working hard with their patients. My dad has already made a lot of progress in just the couple of weeks he has been there, as they really push him. They all make him feel so welcome and always happy to see him. My dad has dementia, so it can be scary leaving him at a new place, knowing he cannot communicate that well. I visit my dad at different times every day, and every time I go, I always find he has been well taken care of. I also enjoy taking my dad outside in his wheelchair so he can feed the ducks at the pond that is located in front of the entrance. If you are looking for a skilled nursing rehab facility for your loved one, I cannot recommend Hawthorne enough.

Our son had just turned 2 and my wife was concerned with a couple behaviors he had been exhibiting. They were rather subtle, so I didn't pick up on anything. This was very much "mother's intuition." Even our pediatrician thought he was fine. We took him to see a child psychologist to be proactive (Dr. Danielle Sutton in Tampa was amazing), and after observation, she diagnosed him with ASD. It was difficult to hear, but we got him into therapy right away. He has been going to BCOTB since April 2015 and he absolutely loves it. He has worked with several therapists since then and they are all amazing, special people who we trust completely. In the past few years, it has been nothing short of remarkable to see his progress. When looking at the charts that quantify his progress, it shows him almost caught up to where he should be. But as his dad and interacting with him, I don't need to see charts to tell how much BCOTB has helped him. We feel absolutely blessed to have BCOTB in our lives. We actually took our son to see Dr. Sutton 6 months into therapy to see what she thought of his progress. She was ecstatic. She made a comment that I thought was worth sharing. After observing our son, she said (and I'm paraphrasing) "Whatever BCOTB is doing is working wonders. Unfortunately, many kids come in after going to an ABA clinic, and they just do 'pony tricks.' It's not really developmental progress or social skills and it gives ABA a bad name." And I wanted to say, as a dad/parent, don't be afraid. If you feel something is off with your child, no matter how slight, take your child to be evaluated. Don't be so afraid of a potential diagnosis that you don't get them the help they need. The sooner you intervene, the bigger the impact therapy can have. I have seen other parents "wait it out" and hope their child catches up, and it's heartbreaking. Every day counts. It does not mean that your child is less or more smart or capable than others, but it means that now you have the challenge of finding special people (I call them my sons guardian angels) that can make enormous difference in your child's life! We have been with ABA Path for about five years - and it has been so impactful, so transformational, so incredibly helpful for my son's development! They have been addressing every and any concern in my son's development and behaviour. He was able to bloom and grow in every area of concern. As he's getting older, they help him achieve and have more opportunities in life than I could ever imagine for him. As a side note, previously we have been with different ABA companies - so I am comparing apples to apples. We came across great therapists, great people before, but the structure felt too corporate and approach was not impactful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! My family and I are highly recommending ABA Path! ABA Path is now offering homeschool program... I will be extremely impactful for children with special needs! Children on the spectrum need one on one approach like no one else, the approach that tailored and designed specifically for their needs!
