All of this being said, it was a well priced room and fulfilled its purpose of a comfy bed to sleep off the wedding drinks!

The on-site Starbucks franchise can only be seen as a good thing. The pool features prominently in the hotel's atrium. The pub/bar served up some respectable burgers (the "American" features peanut butter). Cheeky barkeep saw to it that my visit would start with a few laughs. Yes, do pair the seasoned fries with the buffalo-style chili sauce - ye shall be rewarded. Reception was kind enough to call me a cab headed for the Creamfields festival grounds. The ride, metered or fixed, to and fro, usually falls with £15. Walk to/from Warrington Bank Quay is a 10 minute trek but not recommended without Google Maps. Good stay all around. Might just return in 2016.

The grounds are beautifully maintained, and if the weather is good, it's a delight to sit outside with a refreshing drink or two. The restaurant and bar have good selection, this Is important if you are staying for a few days. I look forward to my next visit.

Beautiful grounds, that made 4 amazing pictures & the room looked unbelievable. It was Christmas time & they had 1000+ baubles hanging from the ceiling. They compensated 4 all our needs & allowed 4 an impressive firework show in the evening. Tasty food throughout the day and our bridal room was very luxurious. Couldn't recommend more. PS. All the planning was done by them, while the two families chose to provide gifts, wedding cake etc. A room for the night was included for the couple and those of us who didn't want the problem of getting home late at night booked double rooms for a very reasonable price with an excellent breakfast included. The wedding itself was smoothly conducted, with a registrar present and all guests had a celebratory drink of bucks fizz or natural orange juice as preferred. There was a Wedding Breakfast as I have been told to call it actually a glorious meal. We also had full use of the function room for the evening, with its own bar, right through until everyone had had enough; although some of us went through to the adjoining public bar as they had two real ales on hand-pump! Drinks prices were (for an hotel) very good, in fact, the same as pub prices around the area. The rooms were basic, but very comfortable and, for most of us, on the ground floor and very close to the function room. The car-parking area is next to the hotel and ample for all of our needs. The location is perfect as it is surrounded by fields and trees, yet is right next to the East Lancashire Road (A580), so very easy to find.

The management has changed relatively recently and this has transformed the pub into a place where I will be visiting a lot more regularly in the future. The staff are all welcoming and knowledgeable, the real ale is very well-kept and the food is excellent as well as being incredibly well-priced. There is a small car park adjacent and on-road parking all around. There are picnic tables outside the front door and a covered area at the rear with more picnic tables and smoking area.
