You know all those little things that make a hotel room special? Well they aren't here and for over $200 a night I was disappointed. To start I was given a "welcome bag" that included a mini bottled water and a bag of goldfish. How welcoming. Paid for a lake view room that was partially visible through windows that look like they've never been washed. The luke warm shower will give your feet a bath while you're showering as it fills up with all the dirty water from not only washing your body off but also whatever was on the bottom of the tub. There's no vent/ fan in the bathroom. Good luck trying to straighten your hair after showering. There's no other mirror besides the one in the bathroom above the sink. The tv screen was blue. You can hear EVERYTHING through the 2 inch hole under the door. The bed is not forgiving. However, I will say the outside is beautiful. read more

This location charged me twice. Once in points and once on my credit card. I reserved the four night stay in IHG reward points. After leaving I see a $760 charge on my account AND missing 70,000 points! IHG customer service says it was points (which it was), the General Manager Christina Threadgill Gooden said it was made with money. I provided picture proof of the points missing from my account and the confirmation email confirming points as payment. She did not care. Refuses to refund me my money. I have had to file a dispute with my CC company which oddly enough the IHG customer service rep recommended. The upgraded "suite" we stayed in was a horror from the start. I'll attach photos for proof. We used a confirm able upgraded to get the upgraded room which was one of the worst suites we've ever been in room 319. Whoever painted it got blue paint on the shower, the tile, the trim, inside the kitchen cabinets, the closet, the toilet plumbing. The cabinets were so filthy we didn't feel comfortable putting our food in it. The AC didn't work, I had to call the front desk because it was leaking all over the floor and I slipped in it after getting up the first morning. The second mini AC in the room leaked a HUGE puddle. The room would never get below 70 so we couldn't even sleep well, that's why we checked out an entire day early.  The tv remote wouldn't work so I called the front desk they sent up an older gentleman (he was very nice) but he took 20+ minutes and two trips to finally fix it. I didn't want to be rude, but he had the worse body odor. It took the room 30 minutes to air out after he left.  This was one of the worse experiences I have ever had at an IHG. I've stayed here in the past on business and it was a great location, but the newer GM Christina Threadgill Gooden has ran it into the ground as of late. We usually do not stay at the full-bore Holiday Inn and generally try staying at Holiday Inn Express locations. Due to the season (spring break) and the lack of advance planning on our part, the only reservations we could snag were at this full-service Holiday Inn. Despite it;s 2-star ratings on Yelp, we figured how bad could it be. First the good part: * the staff at check-in and check-out were great Now the other stuff: * the room has only 1 chair in the entire room (usually there's a task chair at the desk and an uphostered chair - not here - just chair at the desk * the inner window shade was inoperatable and we could not raise it and could not see out the window * the grab bar (a safety feature) in the bathtub was NOT securely attached to the wall. * there were no luggage racks in the room (maybe the luggage racks and chairs are running around together. * there is no exhaussst fan in the bathroom so it stays "steamed up" for quite a while after yu shower. * and, finally, instead of a complimentary HOT breakfast, they offer a $16 buffet breakfast. The hotel is well located and easy to get to from the highway and the front, sides, and rear of the exterior was fantastic very inviting. Now, let's talk about the interior they (hotel) are making improvements which look good but some little details are being over looked. 1- shower/tub area an attempt at a patch which looks horrible (close to tub near floor) 2- elevator corner bead missing screws 3- seating at gazebo paint chipping (minor but a detail) 4- toilet flush handle not working Something I was a bit confused about the ice machines are located on floors 4,5,and 6 that was a bummer if I wanted ice which I did so I had to go from 2nd floor up to one of those floors. However, on a positive note they have washer and dryer if you need them. The hotel offers dine-in breakfast which had the basic meal buffet (eggs bacon, sausage, cereal juice, toast, coffee). The service from the minute I checked-in was outstanding and everyone I encountered the four days of being there were impeccable. I will return and look forward to enjoying myself in a freshly improved hotel. Here is my thought you should go stay for a few nights and see if you enjoy as much as I did. Horrible experience! Ceiling leaked the entire weekend and a dehumidifier was in the room. It felt like a wet steam room the entire time! Staff was unable to handle check-in and rooms were not ready. Breakfast is $15 and they had no eggs, no meat and no hostess. All the tables were dirty. They did not care about the service they gave us and Christina the manager has not responded. The front desk assistant named Danielle had a terrible attitude. They said they were going to help me and they found a hotel 50 minutes away and that was the only thing they could offer. This Holiday Inn has really deteriorated in the last few years. Loud air conditioners, slow hot water, spotty cleaning in both the room and in the common areas, etc. It's definitely due a complete renovation. The entryway was nice when walking in the Christmas tree was the first thing you saw. Our room was under $90.00. Got a king room had a couch so it made it easy to watch TV. But the views were the best. Had a pool and lake view it was nice watching the birds and ducks in the lake. No free breakfast had a restaurant and bar. Don't let the name confuse you. The St. Augustine Hotel & Suites is just off of I-95 which is a long way from the actual City of St. Augustine. So if you're going to be going back and forth from the old part of St. Augustine to this hotel, you might be in for a traffic nightmare of a journey, maybe around 10 miles or so. Nevertheless, St. Augustine Hotel & Suites is a really super nice place to stay and affordable as well. It's also big, like about 6 floors, has a lovely pool, two gazebos to lounge around under and it is right upon a waterfront area in the back with nice waterfront views. The place is spotlessly clean and the staff super friendly as well as accommodating. The lobby is huge and the complimentary dining area is big enough to accommodate everyone. Their complimentary food, basically sausage gravy on biscuits, scrambled eggs and bacon are all rather decent. The place sort of looks like a Comfort Inn, but the rooms are extra-large and rather well appointed. I stayed here for five nights and really got to like St. Augustine Hotel & Suites. That would also be in comparison to Comfort Inns, Sleep Inns, Red Roofs, Budget, Days Inn or the like. Hence, Four Stars. read more

My sink took forever to drain and the toilet ran continuously- My regret is not reading other past guest reviews before booking - but it was a convenient location while needing to stop for a quick night. Fingerprints on mirror and tv. The trash cans had the bag draped over them...that is just laziness on housekeeping for not putting the bag in. Saw a small cockroach in the bathroom. Bad caulking work in the shower. Shower pressure was fine. This hotel is better priced than other hotels in the area, and the reasons above and some other reviews are probably why. Probably spend more money next time to have a cleaner hotel room. It's a nice area, with some more elbow grease, and better attention to detail, this place could be a 5 star. Switched rooms due to several roaches, rusty metal and a lot of dust. When we got to our second room there were no towels. We went down to the lobby and asked for towels and said they didn't have it at the moment and that they'd call our room when they had some, they didn't call for an hour so we went back down stairs and they told us to wait in the lobby, after an hour and 30 minutes we finally got our towels. Called and went to the Front Desk SEVERAL times to get towels that weren't in the room to begin with. 2 hours later, we went back down to the desk and was greeted with an attitude and a seemingly annoyed staff. The Maintenance Staff I spoke with for assistance were MORE than helpful and friendly. Not all, but MOST of the staff from the desk were the absolute opposite! May wanna get some of your "behind the scenes staff" hold a class on how to deal with customers. The beds... ohhh the beds... I was more comfortable sleeping on the couch in the room than the beds. Finally...No exhaust fans in bathroom?!?! with the vanity area being in the bathroom you would think there would be an exhaust fans!! For $250+ a night... I would expect a LOT better experience!! This hotel was terrible. It took 20min to check in because the front desk staff wasn't there. Then when I got to my room it smelled like mold. The table and chairs were stacked onto the sofa. I only gave it one star because I didn't see a roach surprisingly. They are too lazy to vacuum the hallways and too cheap to rent carpet cleaners. The outside looks like that's the only place they spend money to keep it up, but walk into the hallways and it's a nightmare. What a wonderful hotel. The St Augustine Holiday Inn is great! Right when you approach the property, it feels special, it's very isolated from downtown and any roads so it feels very quiet and peaceful. From check in (which was easy and lightning fast) to finding my room, everything was easy. Staff was really nice and the room was excellent. The pool was incredible, no one was swimming when I was there. Spacious, inviting, and clean. The bathroom was really nice, as was the shower. The lobby is beautiful and features a huge atrium!! So we stayed here for my cousins wedding. We arrived to check in at 2:40 didn't get a room until 3:30.. the lobby was full of people trying to check in they said housekeeping was understaffed. i told them we had to be at a dinner at 5 and my family needed to get ready.. didn't end up making the rehearsal dinner. My cousin had to have their room switched several times bc the first room reeked of weed and the second one had no sheets on the bed with dirty ones on the floor. That night my little brother (14) went to go down to the jacuzzi around 9pm. We didn't end up going in because there was a couple having sex in the hot tub... yeah. Our room was prepaid but they charged my boyfriend an additional $250 for each day we stayed and couldn't tell us how or why those charges were ever made. Obviously at this point we didn't even want to stay here anymore and the best they could do for us was hit us with an "I'm so sorry" and 2 breakfast vouchers for a family of 5:) now we're short $500 and have to wait 3-4 business days to get our money back. We're from out of town traveling with 3 children. I would never recommend ANYONE staying here. Hotel from hell. Dirty gross you'd be better off staying at a motel 8. Not worth the money. The only nice thing about this hotel was the pool. The service was very slow and not exactly what I would call hospitality. It was all very unprofessional and at some points rude. The first room we checked in to had all the drawers wide open and there was still left over food receptacles from the previous guests and food crumbs everywhere. We asked to move into another room, and even though this is a non smoking hotel, our next room reeked of cigarette smoke. We moved into our third room and we accepted that this one would do even though the smell of humidity was overwhelming. In fact, the front desk warned us that all the rooms were extremely humid and that is what caused the smell. However, I had never experienced this: the pillows felt wet and our clothes were damp if we left them out. The bathtub was black and it was clear that all that was done to clean it was a splash of bleach in the center because the edges were all gray or black. There were no towels and we had to go down to the front desk and wait a pretty long while for someone to show up so we could ask for towels. read more

They gave me another room that had strong deodorizer smell I realize after it was to cOver up thee smell I If urine from the dogs they alllow to stay there. Very friendly at the front counter. The pool and hot tub were nice. My only complaint is there is something between the beds that I hit my knee on when I was getting out of bed. Did not feel pleasant at all. This was a nice lay over on the way to Port Canaveral to jump on a cruise to the Bahamas for few days. It's not terribly far from St Augustine, and is an easy enough drive on I 95. My only complaint about the service is if you are there for more than a few days they only clean the rooms every few days. My room never really needed to be cleaned but coffee and toilet paper are essentials and I had to make the trek to the front counter to get both. read more

This is an older hotel and honestly, I do not know how in the world they stay in business as they are so isolated. But if you are passing through or visiting the Jacksonville, FL/St Augustine area this is a great hotel for peace and quiet!! The rooms are clean, and the bedding is comfy and the grounds are green and lush. There is a sparkling little pool and Jacuzzi for afternoon dips and they do have a warm continental breakfast. The breakfast is not that stellar, but for a quick fix prior to heading out for a day in Jax, it will most certainly do! If you are looking for a relaxing evening in, the bar is a good spot to hit as they have a pretty good Happy Hour, buy one get two, and the bartender is pretty heavy on the pour. My husband, 6 yr old daughter, & I went here on a "Priceline Express Deal", & got a deluxe double queen room. We were worried bc of previous reviews.. But these complainers don't know what they're talking about! We LOVE it !! We got a room on the 2nd floor, with a lake view! It's HUGE, spacious, & has a full refrigerator & microwave in the kitchen, & a big closet! Just renovated room. We love it . My hubby said, "I want to stay here a week!" after 30 seconds of walking in. They gave us a great bath tub with whirlpool jets. It's still a little chilly outside so the hot tubs are a trip-savor! Hopefully they re-do the heated indoor pool, Bc I think that is a major plus & save, for any hotel & vacay or business trip gone array. We just sun-bathed at the pool & waded briefly, & r now about to take some nice whirl tub baths again. (We've all taken one hot bath once, & r about to take another. I've taken one 3Xs & I'm about to take one more!lol --it's 1 of my fav things about this place..& if they fix their heated pool & have breakfast, this place is gonna be 5 Star quality.) They also allow pets. ($50/fee.. I think 1 time fee, but idk.) So, they may be renovating the 1st floor, but I love this place! & It's gonna really be amazing in a few weeks! I can't express how much I like this place. & the woman at desk is awesome & very nice (Sandra). I don't know why everyone is complaining? We have to drive 30mins into Saint Augustine, (15-20 to outlet mall & Vilano beach), but we like it here. No complaints so far. Brand new renovated rooms. Clean. Great flat screen. I took one with my hubby, one with Hot coffee in 24 temp lounge...& milk & beer for sale, etc. This place is gonna be a 5 Star Hotel in a few weeks after renovation, but for now is definitely a 3 or 4 Star Hotel. They have different quality options & rates, as well. They have "Standard" rooms, "Deluxe" rooms, & "Superior" rooms, & then adjoining rooms, conference rooms. I think 'huge suite' type rooms, for groups, & a presidential suite. Oh, & beds r SO comfortable. Good restaurants close-by. & a Waffle House less than 7 miles away. Keurig coffee maker in rooms. Iron. Hair dryer. Etc. Beautiful views (& superior views upon request). We live in country, so this place was perfect for my husband, me & my 6&1/2 old. I'm happy so far. Applause applause. & This place looks like a little castle to me... My 6 yr old daughter pointed it out as we drove up. It's got 3 pointed tops..& has personality. I really don't think we could've found a better price for a nice big room like this. Awesome deal. Also, the hallway carpet style is great.. very modern & stylish. & I like the aesthetic design & atmosphere, & synthetic wood floors in the renovated rooms. They have nice abstract prints & sunset paintings & lamps, etc. (They'll have a full breakfast & beautiful foyer here shortly.) Kudos to the staff. PS. This was not our favorite place to stay. While the staff was super friendly Check in time was at 3:00 pm and we arrived around 5:00pm. They were still cleaning our room when we arrived. When we made it to our room we got settled in only to find that we had 1 towel for 6 people and 1 wash cloth. We went down to enjoy the pool and it had SO many leaves in it. The hot tub did not work the entire length of our stay although brought to their attention multiple times by multiple guest. The beds were super comfortable to sleep in and the view is quite nice. They do have a restaurant located inside the hotel and a happy hour. However, they are more on the pricy side. read more

This hotel is undergoing major renovations! You may experience noise and/or dusty conditions. You have to pass thru a construction area to access the elevators. There is extensive drywall dust in this area. Pool and Breakfast were not available during my stay. Call in advance for status if these amenities are important to you. This hotel looks like a former Comfort Suites that became a local brand and will soon be a Holiday Inn when renovations are complete. Desk staff said rooms are done. Lobby and breakfast are in progress now. Room was clean and comfortable. Everything down to the towels was brand new. The hotel has potential, but it isn't 100% ready for business. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel Don't look here! Seedy men hanging around the entrance smoking and on their cell phones. The place is so run down. There obviously has been no maintenance or upkeep. Peeling paint on walls and scraped up doors. The carpet in the rooms are wet and gross. The first room they gave me, I opened the door and the refrigerator was pulled out in the center of the room. There were cans of bug bombs everywhere. 6 or 7 children just running and screaming through the hallways. I was compensated by 2 breakfast buffets and a new room. The shower looks old and used. The elevator, when I arrived was working but making a screeching noise. On my second day it wasn't working. The only reason I gave this a 2 is because the receptionist, Pam was wonderful. Update on my atrocious stay at this Hotel : 1) The first room we were given was smelly the second one wasn't much better. 2) Members of the staff who were renovating the hotel were drinking outside from cases of beer nearly every night. 3) The front desk ...there was nobody there when I needed something. 4) The computer in the front lobby saves everyones login unless you clear the cache yourself. 5) The indoor pool is not heated and obviously no pump in operation. 6)The fridge leaked and had to be replaced. 7) The night staff person was sitting there on successive nights with headphones in her ear oblivious to what was going on 8) My door would not lock. The repair person, who was very nice, explained that the issue was a dead battery. He remarked that he told the GM (Elizabeth) about this and that she said she was too busy to explain this to him and it someone had this problem to just switch their room. They caused me to miss dinner and entertainment plans at a financial loss. 9) The manager, Elizabeth, would not discuss this with me stating i was unkind to her staff. I guess saying I had a terrible stay and demanding to speak the manager is unkind. Yes, I was upset. Did I scream?threaten? of course not. I asked to speak to Elizabeth and was told she was off and they were not allowed to call her. 10) oh yeah. Ants, too. This was literally the worst hotel stay I have ever had. I am flabbergasted that the hotel will do nothing about this and has tried to turn this on me. You should be absolutely ashamed of yourself. read more
