I liked this hotel. Staff, breakfast, the comfortable bed, the location, the clean room, the big parking lot, the gym, and the clean lobby were great. Only things I didn't like were falling in the hallway (the ice machine was leaking onto the floor w/ no wet floor sign) so I'm covered in bruises, there's no hot tub, and the sink is outside the bathroom so you have to walk out with dirty hands (I just washed my hands in the tub faucet). I highly recommend Rick's gourmet ice cream, target, making sure you go hike rhododendron state park, and go view Mt Monadnock because they are all pretty close to the hotel and worth it. read more

This property is a little dated but the staff are very friendly. You'll find a clean room, but a sink in the room rather than the bathroom and (for us anyway) a phone next to the toilet. I hadn't seen that since the 1990s, so I very much appreciated the opportunity to belly laugh over it. Our biggest quibble with the property is that it's not very sound proof. We could hear every hallway conversation and lord have mercy the person upstairs paced ALL EVENING. (Ask how we know...) Note for the review because I always want to know this: the in room coffee maker is a Kuerig. If you are coffee particular like us, bring your favorite pods with you to brew! read more

Our experience was not that great. We arrived at night with two rooms booked. One room had a faulty key lock, so it took a while to get into our room. Even the front desk guy had a hard using the key card. The other room reeked of cigarettes, even though we booked a non-smoking room. The front desk guy acknowledged the smell but didn't have the authority to move us to another room because he said none were available. He said we can move to another hotel, and they can reimburse a fraction of the amount. At this point, a few of us was too tired to argue, so we just endured that night. We tried contacting reservations all night. Somehow early in the morning, they were able to switch our rooms, but it seemed a little odd that they had that room, but didn't give it to us sooner. We had 4 guests, but only received 3 towels. The room smelled old and musty. The breakfast spread was decent (from hot food to yogurt). The breakfast lady was so sweet, always greeting us, and making sure we had everything we need. read more

I will say the thing that soured our stay was miscommunication which was not made by us as customers it was by the person who told us that it was a cat friendly hotel and it was not. After numerous attempts to find another hotel to service our situation no luck. Thankful they made an exception for our situation especially in our moving process. We still this is a pretty darned good motel. We recently had a two-night stay here and found the room very clean, comfortable and quiet, the front desk and breakfast staff friendly, and the amenities (heated indoor pool) in good shape. Got to mention the breakfast: it was a hot buffet that included bacon, biscuits and tasty gravy, real eggs and the usual coffees and drinks. Well done! We do have occasions to travel in this area once or twice a year, and this Holiday Inn has always been a good stop. read more

Pros: The free breakfast we had access to was better than some hotels we've been in, beds were comfortable, A/C and temp controls in the room worked well, check in and check out process was quick and easy. Cons: Construction in main lobby so you need to be a bit more tolerant of how they deliver service, free breakfast set up in two adjoining rooms with very limited seating, no elevator (or none obvious and no signs for one) so if you're on the second floor you have to use the stairs at the end of the hallway, housekeeping knocked on our door at 9:30am the day of departure to see if we had left yet Overall, this was not the worst hotel I've stayed in, but I'll definitely look for someplace different if I'm in the area again. Lots of clues that this is an older property bought by IHG / Holiday Inn and remodeled. For example, when is the last time you saw a phone in the bathroom next to the toilet? As for housekeeping checking early, I suspect a portion of that is due to high room turnover and under staffing so the poor girl was just trying to get a head start on her work for the day. Still, I think people should know they may get an unexpected "you done yet?" inquiry well before the check out deadline. Breakfast note: Unlike many free breakfasts, this hotel did have two egg options the morning we were there. Most have just 1 and it's usually some sort of omelette. My wife has food sensitivity issues and having a plain scrambled egg option in addition to the standard omelette was a nice touch and appreciated. read more

This location worked for us for a concert in Swanzey, NH. The staff here was excellent from beginning to end. The big downsides here were the pillows (like $5 ones I swear they were the worst!), the bathroom (toilet was VERY low and the tile work needed a rehab, plus it may have been the smallest bathroom I've been in since I use to stay at very cheap motels years ago. In short though, we stayed 2 nights and had a decent time because the staff was on point. The housekeeper was very friendly and helped us with an issue with the remote and gave us stuff we needed cause we didn't want the room made up. I would come back in a pinch, but I would consider looking elsewhere too. read more

Very nice hotel the staff working the front desk were very friendly. The rooms are not very insulated from the sound you can hear people in the hall. And above and below you. They need to work on the noise but that would require construction. The bed is very comfy nice and clean. Nice sitting area in room. They also have a nice indoor pool. The location is good, nice and safe. Close to downtown and restaurants. Breakfast in the morning was very good. Not a lot of sitting area. I like the hotel but if noise bugs you. The Holiday Inn Express in Keene was very clean, had an extremely friendly and welcoming staff, and some nice amenities (walking distance from several stores, pet-friendly with a $25 a night fee for pets, microwave and refrigerator in the unit). They also had a free continental breakfast which included all of the necessities and then some (eggs, sausage, bacon, fruit, oatmeal, cereal, etc.) I think the rooms were a little overpriced given the location, but overall, had a great experience here and cannot say enough how wonderful the staff was. read more

Best hotel experience I've had, hands down. Every employee was friendly, the room and cleanliness was impeccable, and the breakfast was great with options for any dietary style. I was allowed early check-in as well as late check-out due my circumstances which was hugely helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone passing through or staying for a few days. Make sure you check your bank statement months after you stay. I was charged $250 for smoking when fo don't smoke and wasn't even notified of this charge until I checked 3 months later. Scary huh. I feel at the very least I should have been notified of this $250 and I didn't even get that. Management and their staff really dropped the ball on this one. Five thumbs down. read more

This was literally the last hotel with vacancies during a parent's weekend at a nearby school. The room rate was over $300 in total for a room that is usually around $100. Upon arrival to the room we noticed the general disrepair of the room. Dirty bathroom, soiled bed linens. Upon closer inspection we discovered all stages of bedbug activity from larvae to adult bed bugs, scrambling around the corners of the box spring mattress. The only bright light to this ordeal was the evening manager who was truly genuine in his concern and disgust of the situation. He immediately called the general manager to report the issue. He found us the one available room in the hotel which was located at the opposite end of the hotel. En route to the new room we noticed the open door to the laundry room. Linens were strewn all over the floor, and the scene looked like something out of Motel Hell. Our next room did have clean sheets, and no bedbugs. It did, however, reek of dog and had piles of white dog hair all over the carpet and chairs. The towels in the bathroom were soiled and there was pink slimy mold in the shower. We bought towels and pillowcases at nearby Walmart to ease our disgust. We didn't sleep a wink and waited anxiously for the night to be over. I sincerely hope the evening manager finds a hotel worthy of his kindness and professionalism; this establishment is not reflective of his dedication. read more

This was a welcome stop on a long road trip. Everyone was very nice - they even helped us find a safe place for our SUP board overnight. It was very clean and quiet. The bathroom shower had great water pressure, the bed/linens/pillows were comfortable, and there was an in room K-cup machine that even had tea cups for me, yay! The breakfast was great and even included some gluten-free options for those looking. If we come through this way again we will certainly stop here. read more

Stayed here the other night while i was in Brattleboro, VT. It's about a 20 minute drive and it's not something i'd recommend for novice or unconfident drivers. The dark, wet winter roads makes driving a little dangerous when oncoming headlights erase the lines painted on the road. As for this hotel and the neighborhood, it's just fine. There's an applebee's and a few other chain restaurants around the area so looking for food after dark is fairly reasonable. There's an old movie theater next door, it's a little run-down looking but might be worth a look if you're bored. the hotel itself is modern, clean, has free breakfast, cookies and snacks for people that check in, a business center and fitness center. i didn't notice if there was a pool though. The rooms are clean, has a flatscreen tv and my room had a tv and microwave (that may not be all rooms). if being clean is an issue for you, i dropped something that rolled under the bed and i found a little note that said, "Yes we clean under here too!" which i thought was amusing. The staff member that checked me in was super nice, if you get a mean person don't hold it against me. It might just be you. read more

The pool water was warm and the breakfast buffet presented, was good enough to tip the young lady working that area. Had a great stay!!!! Stayed for a weekend in June for a softball tournament, place was sold out. Filled with lots of kids and parents, and I slept like a baby. Couldn't hear any hallway noise. The Inn was very clean, the breakfast was good. I will stay again next year and other members of my team, plan on staying next year. My only complaint is the shower head, a little weak on the water pressure. read more

Everyone here is so friendly from the front desk on. You would almost think every employee owned the place and cared for your well-being and comfort. The room was spotless and had so many extras..how nice. We did not need the frig/microwave but the Keurig was a nice surprise. The morning breakfast selections were huge. This was not expected and very pleasing. Because it was Keene State graduation the rooms were double or more in cost..oh well. Very nice place to stay, particularly for the price. Our room was fairly spacious, with both a desk chair and a foldout couch for seating. It was quiet and even though we were close to a busy street, we didn't hear any road noise. The complimentary continental breakfast was adequate and they actually provide take-out bags, which is excellent for a family where one of us tends to get up later than the other. We traveled from out of state to look for a home to purchase. So we booked 7 nights. We arrived and there were signs posted everywhere that masks were required by law. The desk person was not wearing a mask. Granted she was behind a full plexiglass shield so this did not bother me. However, there was a man mopping the lobby with no mask and a woman sitting in the lobby with no mask. Which was ironic considering at check in, the clerk handed me a form that I had to sign stating I was aware local city ordinance required everyone from guests to employees to wear a mask or risk a fine. When we got to the room, it had a musty smell. However, we arrived very late and went straight to bed. When we woke up, the carpet from the AC unit to the bed was soaked. This was not just from overnight but had been there a while based on the amount of water in the carpet. I went to turn on the shower and....no water. The shower knob had been stripped and did not work. Ok, now I'm thinking, how thoroughly was the roomed cleaned prior to our arrival, considering the soaked carpet and no water in the shower. I went to the desk and informed them of the issues and we were canceling the remaining days of our reservation. The only comment I got was, "Ok. Sorry about that." Her attitude was basically, oh well. Literally two minutes after I returned to the room and as my wife was getting dressed, a man burst through the door without knocking then immediately shut the door yelling, "Sorry! Maintenance! Sorry!" I opened the door and the man (with no mask) was visibly angry. He was very apologetic and said he was told we had checked out. I'm sure he was heading back to the desk to have words with the desk clerk. This place looks great in photos, but I would recommend you find someplace else to stay. read more

This hotel has been renovated since my last stay. -- It was clean and pleasant. I have stayed in so many hotel rooms where there is grime in the room corners or in the hallways where the rug meets the wall. This hotel was well maintained. There were a few "cons:" I unfortunately had a faulty heating system in my room. I could not read the screen on the wall monitor and the heat clanked. This was a big bummer. Also, the internet was running slowly during my stay. The exercise machines were old - one was rickety ... maybe those will be next in the round of renovations. There were plenty of "pros" though and it was evident that the staff in this hotel are conscientious and working hard to run a good business. The cleanliness alone showed great attention to detail. There was plenty of towels and wash cloths. The bed was relatively comfortable. Also, good water pressure and hot water. The parking lot was well lit and felt safe. The location was good. The front desk staff were pleasant. There was an employee named Chyna who was busy, busy, busy taking care of everyone's needs. She should be commended. She was pleasant and professional and was running her butt off all night. The hotel decor was nice ... I would stay here again. : -) read more

I enjoy staying at the Holiday Inn. I've had nothing but good experiences. I really like their rooms because they include a microwave and small fridge, which most hotels of a higher scale don't even have. This particular location was clean and included free breakfast. The breakfast selection was great and even included turkey sausages and gluten free items - That for me was a plus! The only drawback during my stay was the beds. The fitted sheets on one bed had pilling and, despite the choice of firm and soft, the pillows just didn't cut it for me. I would definitely stay here again...next time though, I just may bring my own pillows. read more

i went to KSC for 4 years and my mom and her sisters and my cousins would often vist me from MA for a weekend. its a great great deal. they have a free breakfast buffet, a wednesday night customer appreciation cook out, and cookies and milk every night. its clean, they are friendly they would remember my family everytime we came. its in a safe area and its close enough to downtown that you could walk or take a short cab for like 2 bucks. the only time its expensive is around homecoming but that is when ALL the hotels are expensive, that and graduation. i would suggest getting a hotel early for graduation. get one for the night before, that way you dont have to worry about parking near the campus and you can walk to get your seats in the AM. less of a headache read more

The staff here is very nice. It's usually quiet as I always get a room on the top floor at the end of a hall. A great breakfast choice. The beds are so comfortable! There is a Keurig in the room. I stayed here on Christmas Eve. The room as well as the rest of the hotel was nice and clean. I didn't get to use the pool or hot tub but they also looked well maintained (both indoors) when I looked in. There is a convenient little 24-hour shop run by the desk staff that has lots of little things like snacks and toiletries if you don't feel like venturing out to the Walgreens or CVS. All the people who worked here were very nice and friendly. If you forget your toothbrush or something else, they'll happily bring one to your room for free. For those who need it, there is a laundry room for guests with a couple of washers and driers. My biggest problem with the place (the only thing keeping it from more stars) was that the walls seem to be pretty thin. My room was over the front entrance and I had to call the front desk THREE times after 1 AM to ask the drunk smokers outside on the covered walkway to quiet down. Also, the rates for the rooms are a little expensive (I got it via priceline for half the going rate). read more

I was in town for a wedding this weekend and booked a night here, I understand it's a busy weekend but it was not worth the price that I paid unfortunately. I went to check in at 2:30 and there were no rooms available yet even though I had put my estimated arrival time as hours earlier, thankfully I was running late that day and wasn't left waiting in the lobby for hours, understandable though as they had a full house. More and more people started to show up just after 3pm to check in and there was lots of tension going on as no rooms were ready at check in time. I had a wedding to get to so I rushed to the hotel bathroom to do my makeup, thankfully around 3:15 my room was ready. From the time I walked into my room it smelled and felt very damp, it looked as though there was dampness all over different parts of the carpet, I thought maybe they had just vacuumed or something causing the carpet to look funny but it was that way until I checked out, overall kind of a gross feeling but I just sucked it up as I was only there for one night and didn't feel it was worth the hassle. If I wasn't already checked in and going to be charged I probably would've just driven the 3 hours back home, not worth $200+ for a damp musty room that felt very unclean. read more

I have recently stayed at this hotel almost every weekend for the past few months while doing work in the area and this place was great! The rooms are really clean, well stocked and comfortable. Every member of the hotel staff I encountered was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a step above what usual hotels in this price range are, and they take pride in their building and grounds. It was safe, a little off the beaten path of downtown which I liked but still less than 5 minutes away. I will absolutely stay here again should I have to come back to the area. read more
