Been traveling for a month and booking third party. I get it that hotels cant always see third party contracts but I still like a paper statement showing checkout and any additional local fees from the hotel l. Paid a local "eco fee" which i dont know wtf that is for. Seems like they go to great lengths to add fees - plastic forks and paper plates aren't eco friendly. Anyway, asked for a receipt and front desk girl got lippy. Very rude. Didn't get a receipt even though i could at every other hotel on this trip. This is also the second bad experience at a holiday in express on my trip - the last one misrepresented themselves as having a breakfast when they didnt. Just avoid these places from now on unless you want the hassle. Tile in the bathroom was also all cracked to hell. read more

Our 2 night stay here was acceptable. The hotel is clean and has everything it should. Hot breakfast was good. I love the cinnamon rolls at Holiday Inn Express! My only complaints are the signs placed around the hotel that state they are a "100% smoke free property" and yet there are people smoking literally inches away from the doors outside. Also, the water pressure in the showers is absolutely horrible. It's like taking a shower in a water fountain. This is an area that needs serious repair. read more

I stayed here back in June and it's a nice place. The staff is friendly and the rooms have been remodeled. It's nice and quiet along with a breakfast that comes with you room. The hotel is well placed near restaurants and stores. We will definitely use this hotel if we are ever back in town. read more

Not a good place for business travelers, or maybe we were just here on a bad week. I had checked the website to see if this hotel offered a business center before I made reservations for myself and two coworkers, and it did. So I reserved three rooms for our business trip to Corydon. The "Business Center" had a terribly slow computer and the printer wasn't working on our first day at the hotel. We asked at the front desk for assistance but the only advice we got was "Maybe you need to add paper." No, that wasn't the problem. There was plenty of paper. It just wasn't working. My coworker spent nearly an hour attempting to print two pages and finally got it to work. The next two days the printer was working but the computer was so slow, or had such a poor internet connection that it timed out before it could load the pages we needed to print. I had planned my schedule so that I could spend several hours working on projects that were due by the end of the week. Unfortunately, I was unable to get anything at all done due to the slow computer. I am not at all happy about that because it means I will be working to complete them at home, over the weekend. Not the way I had planned to spend my weekend after traveling for work all week. According to a sign in the "Business Center" faxes could be sent at the front desk. So we requested that a fax be sent, and we would come back for the confirmation. We checked back several times and the employee said the confirmation didn't print but neither did a failed notice print. Sure enough, the fax didn't go through, as we found out the next day. Later my coworker asked to get something scanned and the employee mentioned she really didn't know how to use the fax machine. Sorry, but in my opinion teaching front desk staff how to use the fax machine should be included in training. The "Business Center" also was sadly lacking in any supplies. No white-out, stapler, tape, paper clips or any other supplies that are normally stocked at hotel business centers. Just one single, slow computer, a printer and a hotel pen and notepad. The beds were comfortable and rooms were nice. It wasn't quiet, though. The AC fan was very noisy. Apparently semi truckers are allowed to let their trucks run all night because each night a truck was running outside my room all night long. The AC fan was so noisy that I tried opening my window a few inches instead of using the AC but the diesel fumes came inside my room. The pool and hot tub area was nice and appeared very clean. I enjoyed the fitness center with two better-than-average treadmills. The front desk employee on our first night seemed overwhelmed or under-trained. It was a very busy evening and there was frequently a line waiting to check in. I had to wait in line to ask for some silverware and later, for the treadmill key and overheard several people in line mention that there should be two front desk staff members working. Clearly she needed help. The location is great, very close to several good restaurants. read more

Our stay with Holiday Inn was pleasant, quiet, and clean. After a long day and late night at Thunder Over Louisville, all we wanted was some good shut-eye. I am not a fan of chain hotels, but when you're looking at the very last minute, you do what you gotta do. And I was actually impressed. Check-in was a breeze and the hotel room was surprisingly clean. The bed was spacious and super comfortable. To my delight, they also had a continental breakfast the next morning. The staff was friendly and prompt with the requests of other guests that I witnessed while we were enjoying our coffee and breakfast in the lobby. Overall, it was a great experience and if we needed another last minute hotel I would not hesitate to stay here again. read more

It's not the hotel that's not good, it's the other guests it attracts on the weekends. The last time I stayed here and this time, the place has been overrun with loud, obnoxious, foul, drunken slobs. These people have no sense of respect for other guests or that at the end of the day you are at a hotel to sleep. If you are running up and down the halls screaming, or out in the parking lots having a party it is very not relaxing to other guests. During the week it is usually very quiet and the most common guests are utility workers who need their rest in order to do their demanding jobs. Friday and Saturday nights, watch out. Definitely NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY on the weekends. As a frequent visitor to the Corydon area, I will not be trying for three strikes. read more

My daughters and I stayed here after a day of exploring Marengo Cave. The woman at the front desk was so helpful and friendly. The hotel is currently under construction, but since I booked through a 3rd party site I didn't know. The main reason I chose this hotel was because of the pool. My girls wanted to swim, so the woman at the front desk called a nearby hotel and made arrangements for us to swim there. Her help was so appreciated. I wish I had wrote down her name! She also gave us an upgrade on our room because we were only booked in a room with one bed. Breakfast was also great! Lots of choices! read more

Friendly, competent staff at check in. Unfortunately this place is "tired". Was okay with the lobby and access ways and hallways but the room was seriously in need of updating. Bed was uncomfortably firm and "springy". The bathroom floor tiles were all loose as the grout was all broken and missing...strangest thing I've seen in a HIE which are normally very dependable and updated. Shower head was encrusted with minerals and couldn't be adjusted from the fine mist setting. Was concerned when approaching our room and I could hear children very clearly through the hall door but once in the room, we didn't hear a peep. Generally a good stay but may move on to the Marriott for a few extra $. read more

Hmmm. I stay at HIE a lot. This one was definitely sub-par, and still had the feel of a Country Inn or Comfort Suites with a bit of a makeover. The beds were very old and low to the floor. The sheets were so worn out they had that "pilled" or pebbly texture to them. Remnants of old cigarette smell. The carpet beneath the window AC was soaking wet and smelly. All in all this was a significant step down (by comparison) and everything felt old, dirty, worn out. read more

The staff at the front desk was friendly. Although in need of updating, I can look past that if the hotel is super clean. The two rooms we had both smelled very musty, however. They were in serious need of a dehumidifier. The toilet in my room was not at all clean which was disturbing. (I'll spare you the description and just say that I think they somehow overlooked cleaning it.) The grout on the bathroom floor was very cracked with some chunks gone. There was a dead bug in the bathroom floor and a stain on the carpet. Overall, not at all unlivable but could really be cleaner in certain areas. The sheets on the bed were very clean and had a slight bleachy smell (a good thing). Breakfast the next morning was good. read more

Just checked in and the room is nice. This place had a recent remodel and it shows. I have a king room with a microwave and mini fridge, as well as a 32" flat screen. One thing I like is they have multiple outlets on the desk that are easy to get to, instead of just one that you have to crawl or move furniture to find. This hotel was super nice...great staff, very clean. Everything was always kept stocked from the pool towels to the waffles and biscuits and gravy. That was important for our family of 6 ! Room was extremely clean and nice..big screen tv in our room...of course hubby watched NFL while mom took kids to pool and soaked in whirlpool...our room had plenty of space for the 6 of us. Bathroom could have been a shade bigger, but not many have as many members as our family does. read more

We stayed their last summer. It was next to lots of restaurants. The lobby was decorated with flower wallpaper. There was lots of wooden furniture in the lobby. The lobby smelled like smoke. When we got up to our room, it smelled really musty. We requested to move to a different room. It smelled less musty, but it still smelled musty. It was really cold to. We were looking out over the little roof thing. There was a field in the distance. We went out to dinner once we got all settled. We ate at an Italian restaurant. That place was good but that is a different story. Sadly, there was no pool. The staff was nice at the hotel. We only stayed only one night. Overall, it was a nice stay. read more

I'd first like to thank the employees Susan and Julie: Susan went above and beyond, came to my room to fix the A/C that I couldn't get turned on and did so with a smile, Julie was pleasant upon check in, and she was back the next day when I checked out, even though she wasn't feeling well! The Manager here was also kind as was the lady in the breakfast area! The Breakfast was DELICIOUS and it was so nice to have hot coffee available early in the morning! The room itself was SO NICE! It was very clean! The bed was amazingly comfortable! The new Modern Decor and the Closet was also very nice!! I stayed here only one night but I will return to this location the next time I am going through Corydon! Some ppl might wonder how a Hotel Chain could get 5 stars but they really EARNED it! Apparently everything was updated a couple of years ago. I hope travelers will be respectful and NOT trash the place. So many ppl travel and seem to leave their manors at home! Such a shame! This location is conveniently located to Historic Downtown Corydon where all the Quant shopping is. There are nearby restaurants and a Walmart as well! I wish I had another trip planned!! read more

I made a reservation at this hotel on May 16, 2014 for a stay on May 1-2, 2015. My email confirmation at time of booking stated the total estimated price for two rooms (4 people) would be $654 and cancellation policy was up to 6pm day of arrival. On March 30, 2015 I received a call from this hotel that stated I needed to supply a credit card immediately to continue to hold my room for this date and if I cancel my room after April 1, 2015 I would be charged for it. I was also told the hotel manager, Roschanna, gave strict instructions that if guests didn't immediately give a credit card before the end of today the hotel would immediately cancel the reservation. Apparently they do not honor reservations made through the corporate online reservation system. Also, when I went to check my reservation through the same online system I made the original booking through which is IHG.com, the total cost of my reservation was now estimated at $920. I contacted IHG customer service who told me that local hotels can change reservations and not honor what was booked online. I have been a member of the Holiday Inn rewards family for over 20 years and have never had a hotel do this. Apparently this Holiday Inn Express realized it is the Kentucky Derby weekend and they could make more money taking advantage of its customers than honoring an existing reservation. We had stayed at this hotel last year during the same time frame and we never incurred any of these problems, the hotel and staff were very nice.
