We had fun exploring the various rooms: red carpet for the step & repeat, cash bar, main room with round tables, bathroom, private spaces with long tables or rounds, the space for a buffet of heavy starters and desserts and lastly, a gorgeous space designed by Maker's Mark. We walked upstairs to check out their private suite area, made perfect for bridal parties. A large mirror for getting ready plus styling tables to do hair and make up. Per the owner, this may turn into an AirBNB option. The faculty is perfect for events or large party gatherings. They have TVs throughout the building and I loved watching the photo loop of the theater's pictures. We enjoyed the food on the menu, especially the meatballs and roast beef sandwiches. Add this space to your list for event rentals! They have made partnerships with nearby hotels.

My husband was hesitant to go the first time because the decor is more feminine, but it became a favorite for him after our first visit! Open to the public [New Albany IN]…read more Along East Main and Market Streets contain a concentration of historic residential properties... this is New Albany's Mansion Row and the William S Culbertson Mansion is one of them offering a 60-minute guided tour. We came at the last hour... just in time for a tour inside the mansion. Admission is $13 (but we qualified for the Seniors rate -- yay! best part in turning 60 LoL!) Our young tour guide was very knowledgeable and well-informed about the property. We started in the foyer and worked our way up to three stories, ending in the kitchen. The mansion is a French Second Empire-style structure and at the time of his death in 1892, Culbertson was one of Indiana's wealthiest men. Rooms that were shown to us included the FIRST FLOOR: Informal Parlor, Formal Dining Room, the Formal Parlor (which can be rented as an event space), Library. SECOND FLOOR: Morning Room, Daughter Blanche's Room, Daughter Anna's and her husband's Room, Dressing Room, Mrs Culbertson's Room, Mr Culbertson's Room (still under construction) and, yes, they each have separate rooms. THIRD FLOOR: Son, Samuel's Room, and across the hallway is another room under construction but has some exhibits and history material on display. From here we headed downstairs to the servant's quarters and finally the kitchen on the ground floor. Lastly... during Fall and Halloween season the Carriage House is transformed into a haunted house. They call this event the "House of Anguish." This is the primary fundraiser for the Culbertson Mansion. Review #3876

They are painstakingly attempting to match the vibrancy and elegance of the wealth William Culbertson possessed. Culbertson was considered the richest man in Indiana and the house certainly reflects this. Considering the cost this is rather a bargain for architecture and history lovers. The tour lasts a little over an hour. The good news is that parking was plentiful and free since it's about 5 minutes away from downtown is the area known as Mansion Row.

Nice guy, however, very stiff and not too friendly which was surprising because this is a family owned venue. I hope he was simply having an off day. Alexis, on the other hand, was amazing to work with! He's blessed to have her on his team. Although, the wedding was to take place in the outside garden, the weather didn't cooperate and it was moved to inside. Alexis did an amazing job with the turn around between the wedding and the reception. The parking lot isn't very large, but honestly for an average size wedding it's adequate. The highlight of this venue is the beautiful wood floors and the windows that seem to stretch from the floor to the ceiling. The balcony that surrounds the main hall is a wonderful setup. The owner is very particular on what vendors participate in any wedding at the Calumet Club, so be sure to have all your vendors checked out and approved by the owner before booking them.

The open space has a stage and room for about 12-15, 8-seat tables. Actually more tables could probably be placed in the space, but that was the number that was used for the event that I attended. Food was served by a very nice and accommodating staff. The food (baked chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes and a cool salad. For dessert, we had two types of delectable, tasty treats: succulent chocolate cake and bourbon bread pudding. I was really surprised by the flavor of the food. Normally, the food at these types of venues is not flavorful, or tasty and even the texture of the food is not good. Imagine my surprise at delightful, savory nature of the food. I wanted to gorge myself, but decided against it. Anyway, this atmosphere is a nice space for small-to-medium-sized party. There is plenty of parking around the venue in their private parking lot and on the surrounding street. I really enjoyed my visit.

There's a second floor entrance with a balcony that provides a nice entrance for the wedding party and newlyweds. One end of the hall provided the buffet and the other end had a small bar with non alcoholic beverages. If you leave this main hall and go towards where you entered we found the bar with alcohol and also the restrooms. This place definitely had a more casual feel than other venues I've been to. I'm not positive that the caterer was in house, but I think it might've been. It definitely tasted better than it looked! But it did look like middle school cafeteria food. So if having top notch food is a priority, keep that in mind for your event.
