The reception…read morefacility needed ceiling fans in the outside area, no signs directing how to access bathrooms in the reception area and staff were rude when guests entered the wrong way. If there was going to be 2 hours between wedding and reception(sit down dinner) bride/groom should have received a suggestion to have heavier pre-reception spread. They had only 2 high top tables and 2 regular tables which were placed directly in the sun. They needed tables in the cover area especially since guests couldn't access the reception area for 2 hours after the end of the wedding ceremony.

I came out to see the location for a bridal vendor meet and get ideas for our daughter's upcoming wedding. We had so many different delicious dessert's, coffee, cotton candy and even a photo booth ! When you first drive down the road you come to a huge parking lot. Perfect if you are having a big wedding. The outside around the property is so pretty you can do all of your photos or even your wedding outside. Going into the building there is a long foyer where you can set up name/ table tags. Through the foyer there is the hall. The ceiling is very high open beam's very good lighting. Lots of room for many tables and dancing. There is a big fire place at the far end of the room.

I hosted my baby shower at Contemporary House on April 12, and it was one of the most disappointing…read moreexperiences I've ever had. The venue itself is nice, but the people running it--Mercedes and her mother Carla--completely ruined the day. Carla stayed at the venue the entire time, constantly walking in and out, taking unsolicited photos, turning lights on/off, and making my guests uncomfortable. She even turned guests away at the door for bringing desserts. Instead of contacting me, she confronted my friends and family directly. Later, Mercedes arrived and escalated things even more. She began yelling at guests and threatening to cancel the event. I spent over two hours of my event trying to calm the situation instead of enjoying time with loved ones. Then they refused to return my deposit over a temporary floor issue that had already been resolved by my decorator--with photo proof. If you want peace of mind and professionalism, I recommend avoiding this venue.

I love that crazy woman...) we had an amazing experience. The biggest reason we booked this venue is that the place is gorgeous. Amazing picture taking venue. You want water in the background? There's a pond out back. Trees? There's a little tree farm next door. Bushes/bench? Right there. Stairs for a group shot? Out front. A gorgeous house in the background? A staircase? Fireplace? All available for photos. The main room where we held the ceremony wasn't too big. It could probably hold in ~100 people comfortably (we only had ~15). However, it is laid out such that there is glass on three sides of the room, giving you great natural light and some beautiful background. They also have a full kitchen there for party purposes and a sound system you can plug into for music. Martha (who runs the place) was really accommodating helpful. She gave us the WiFi password so we could Skype in family for the wedding. She had no problem letting us have our dog as our ring bearer. And when we got there, the chairs were already set up. Perfect. And the best part? It was only $100/hour for us to reserve it. Well worth the cost and a great experience.

My husband and I went to Rainbow Lanes yesterday afternoon with our baby girl and had a great time!…read more Rainbow Lanes is a no frills, spacious bowling alley and arcade that gives 80's or early 90's vibes. We loved it. I am so used to a "fancier" spot such as Kings at North Hills, but I would come back here over Kings now that I have been! Everyone that worked there was friendly. The space is huge, and they have many lanes. You don't feel like you are on top of each other, which is nice. I believe it was about $30 for all of us to play two games/get shoes, which is not bad at all! They have a huge arcade type space with plenty of games and even a small ride that mimics the Himalaya at the N.C. State Fair! You can play games, earn tickets, and they have a full force prize booth! It's pretty cool! There is an incredibly extensive food menu, and they have decent drink options as well; beer, wine, soda, juice, water, etc. The only food we got were the chicken tenders, and although frozen I actually asked the woman the brand. These were some of the best chicken tenders I have ever had and did not seem frozen at all. Eager to try some new foods next time! We are already planning our next trip back!

After noticing several religious…read moreitems in their pictures, I emailed to ask if they were open to working with queer couples and got the following in response: "This venue is located at our Christian home. We personally have gay friends but we believe their behavior is a sin. I am a sinner and I believe we should love the sinner and hate the sin. The current law allows gay couples to marry. I think gay couples should respect the beliefs of others just as they want to be respected. " Clearly, they don't want to come right out and say we are not welcome, but they made it clear. Nowhere in my initial email was I disrespectful to them, so I'm not sure whey they felt the need to point out that we needed to respect their beliefs. A simple, "We can not accommodate your request at this time," would have been fine. We were not asking them to officiate our wedding. We were asking them if they would do their jobs as business owners, take our money, host our event, and keep their personal opinions to themselves. How their religious beliefs impact their business I don't really understand. It is really too bad, because as I mentioned, this venue looks absolutely gorgeous. However after the rude and frankly condescending email back, I will be taking my business elsewhere. I suggest those who support marriage equality do not support this highly unprofessional business.
