Free coffee and tea only for guests
Kim K.

This is the first time I've stayed in a HOLIDAY INN. I do frequent IHG properties, mostly Holiday Inn Express, so i was a little surprised that this brand does not include breakfast. The price is more and the rooms are basic. Honestly i can say now i will only stay at the EXPRESS. I PAID$150 for the night. And I'm not complaining as there was a huge storm, tornados and high winds and i just needed to get myself and grandkids off the road. I felt safe and that is what was important. They do have a full service bar and restaurant, swimming pool, gym, business center and conference rooms. I was a bit disappointed that the shampoo and conditioner were in individual travel bottles and they weren't even the same brand. And in a room with two beds there really should be two shampoos, conditioners and lotions. I do prefer the larger bottles that are installed in the shower and I'm kind of surprised the higher priced brand was skimping on products. I did like that the hairdryer had a night light! I usually bring my own as i hate turning the light on in the middle of the night. I hope other properties will follow suit with that. The room was small and basic but adequate.. the beds were comfortable. Shower was hot and welcomed after 4 hours on the road. The gentleman at the front desk was incredibly friendly. I appreciate the consistency of the IHG brand. I know I'll get a consistent room and friendly staff. The lobby was nicely decorated for the holidays. Coffee and tea were available in the morning, as well as the local newspaper.

Wedding reception at the event center

Stayed at the Holiday Inn last night and the hotel was very nice. Attached is a huge party center that's great for wedding receptions and parties, etc. We attended a friend's wedding reception and the hall was decorated beautifully! The lighting, the food, the ambience, the size of the room were all perfect. We had a great time at this great venue. And having a hotel attached was awesome cuz we could drink and then crash. The only thing I didn't like was there wasn't a free breakfast, but that's okay because Ryan's serves a great breakfast buffet just down the street. The bed was comfortable and I slept very well. That's all I can ask. Recommend!

This place is very clean and quiet. I have an awesome view of all the shopping...you might want to know why I could not fax, because of this virus stuff everything place I could fax from was closed...

My review will be limited as we came during their holiday schedule. We had reservations (an…read moreabsolute must) on Monday during the holiday season (normally closed on Monday). Their service was limited to drinks and a featured appetizer. The ambiance was stunning! Hats off to the designer of the Christmas decorations. The decor set the expectation of my experience and they did not disappoint!. There were 8 in our party and we ordered from the holiday drink menu, designed like a Christmas Card which is a genius idea. We tried 8 of their drinks and passed them around to taste. ALL were well balanced so hats off to the bartenders as the place was packed and it would have been easy to let your standards slip when you are as busy as they were. Although the place was packed our service was great. I can't wait to return and try their food menu. If it is anything like their attention to detail, I am so excited to return and I fully expect to post a great review. What a great evening with friends and a great kick off of the holidays. Just a quick note on pricing: This is not a chain restaurant so don't expect chain restaurant prices. My opinion is it is deserved price point when you consider the standards they set. It's a perfect place for date night, entertaining a client or a girls evening out.

We walked in around 4:15pm, and found an open private booth which was cool. The entire space is classy and I'd like to sit in the leather chairs in the back room next time. The drinks were good- a Carajillo and special "love potion". The booth had the ability to control our music volume which we enjoyed. The only hiccup is the menu said to "hit the button in your booth to order", we couldn't find the button. After waiting quite a while our waitress hadn't come back, so I went to find her and put our drinks in. She explained the booths no longer have buttons. No big deal, but we should have been approached sooner for our drink order versus having to go find her. All in all we still enjoyed our experience and will return.

The hall was big on the inside and was great for our cousin's large wedding. Ambiance: The Lightning was intimate and perfect for dancing the night away. The food is catered by an outside vendor. Overall, as a guest it was a nice location. We had a lovely night but a little chaotic getting in as two receptions starting at the same time. Good as a guest but found the sound system placement made the sound a little muffled. Bathrooms were a bit limited for a 300 person wedding, and the bar location was tight for getting drinks. Food line also took a bit of time to get through. Fiancé loved the converted church vibe!

The chandeliers are absolutely beautiful and go with any event. My new husband and I had a short planning window (proposal November 5th, 2020, wedding May 4th, 2021). We already had a Star Wars theme planned, and Renee had some amazing options to go with it, like the sequined table runners, and all of the colored linen tablecloths we wanted, in our colors of blue, purple, and black. She had everything set up for us on short notice of a change to have our ceremony at Spruce St as well, since rain started and our first venue was outside. Definitely go for the uplighting! The bridal suite and groom's room were great to have as a place for changing and keeping belongings safe. Renee has great ideas if you have any questions on how to run your big day!

We opted to go to a bar a couple of miles down the road (Gabby Goat) to watch a Packer game and came back to our room at half time as the game started at 7:20 and we were tired from driving all day. The lobby area was decorated beautifully for the Christmas holidays. As we came back from dinner we noticed 7 small decorated Christmas trees on a table. They were made by employees and guest were invited to vote on their favorite. There was also a cute present wrapping area. How fun. Super friendly staff. Our room was comfortable, quiet and clean. We had a standard king size rom that was roomy with a desk and side chair. The 40 inch tv to finish watching the game was awesome. My husband had some breakfast of sausage and potatoes and an orange to go. Standard breakfast fare. I was going to see if they had a grab and go bag as we checked out around 9 am but forgot. Starbucks chai tea from next door was going to have to do. We travel from WI to FL every year in December and Effingham has been a lunch stop. But we recently moved 3 hrs north so had our first overnight here and we plan on staying here each year going forward.
