Can I just tell you how overpriced this place is? Chances are, if you're in Dundee, you're taking your children to Splash Universe. Due to this, I am not sure why i had to pay over $200 for a room PLUS the outrageous fee for "water park" entry. In any other hotel/water park combo's that I have visited, your hotel comes with the entry in one bundle... and I have been to much better combo's for less money. The water in the splash park was SO cold we could only stay in for 15 minutes before my daughters' lips turned blue. Total waste of money! All night long children were running through the halls, even playing ding dong ditch. The guests directly upstairs sounded like a herd of elephants ALL NIGHT LONG. I came with a 1 year old and a 3 year old and none of us slept throughout the night. I called the office about it but it continued throughout the night/early morning. I was NOT a happy camper despite the potential of this place to be a fun family outing. read more

I was extremely disappointed with my stay. When we got there we got early check in so that was great but everything was extremely unclear when booking the room. No one said the water park wasn't included In the package and No one Said a thing about the entire water park being closed on Wednesday's. I mean why would people come and book a bunk bed suite if they knew the whole park was closed on Tuesdays at 6 and all day Wednesday?? No where on the site is that clear when booking a room. I booked on line and confirmed on the phone so there is so excuse for not letting me know at some point. We were planning on having dinner in the restaurant but that was also closed. After that they over charged my card. They were supposed to take care of it the day before and they did not, so the next day I went down to clear it up (I was extremely nice about it) and I heard the manager in the office talking crap about me!!! I heard the lady I was taking to say to her "she is standing at the desk. I think she thought I was on hold on the phone" Completely unacceptable. After that the lady I was taking to came and apologized but the people that were taking about me didn't say a word to me. I really wish I would have gotten their names! This on top of the blankets being smelly and gross. It's too bad but I can say we will NEVER return. I am not going to be disrespected by people where I am paying to stay when it was their mistake in the first place. I give 2 stars only because my boys, 3 and 6, enjoyed playing in the waterpark, and the room was big enough for the four of us. There was nothing else about this hotel and waterpark was even average. I have never had such consistently poor service from any other vacation-type destination. Check-in is woefully understaffed and results in lines. We had to have our room key remade twice because it stopped working... There was a ten minute wait at the front desk both times. The in-house restaurant is where we found the worst service. It was as though they were surprised to see guests, and after our experience, I see why. We ate dinner there and waited to place our order, waited for drinks, burgers were overcooked, and all three burgers were gone by the time the mustard we requested made it to the table. We made the mistake of eating at the breakfast buffet the next morning. We waited 25 minutes to be seated, while staring at several (not sure if it was 4 or 5) empty tables the entire time. Once seated, it was another 20 minutes before anyone stopped to take a drink order, and then another 10 minutes before we received our bill. My family will never return to this location. read more

Large first floor room with 4 bunks and a queen bed. Clean. Restaurant area was awful. Hours of waiting for takeout, since they could not find seats for everyone. Not enough staff, ran out of food. The staff that was working wet trying hard but failing miserably. This was not completely their fault, during a busy time of year...extra staff is a must! Water park area and bathrooms have strong odor of urine. Enjoyed park (other than crowded) and it was well staffed. They shut a huge area down due to finding...poop. I hope they scoured the area well. Also the water was cold due to mechanical issues. Staff and rooms, excellent. Restaurant, pool, & water park area...awful. We will not return. read more

Horrible hotel. The families coming to this hotel have no common courtesy. Parents allow their children to run through the halls screaming, playing loud explicit music and banging on the glass doors at all hours of the night. Supposedly quiet hours begin at 11pm however you would think this was a college dorm having a floor party all night. The hotel housekeeping were just as bad at banging on the doors for nearly 15 minutes when they were cleaning the rooms during the day. Rooms definitely don't have any sound barriers between them. Hotel staff are rude and don't appear happy. When we asked for blankets larger than a baby blanket, the guy bringing them made it obvious he was upset about needing to do his job by bring them to our room. The front desk staff, particularly Misty, made us feel like we were inconveniencing her when we requested the WIFI password as it states to do on their website. Never again will we return to stay at this trashy hotel. It's definitely not worth the price paid for the type of people it attracts. read more

Stayed here for one night. Clean rooms. Helpful staff. Pool was really nice. No hot tub in the pool area. Boo. Lol. The only cheesy thing they do is charge for a fridge. A lot of renovations were being made. read more

We stayed here for one night to use the water park, the hotel was by far the best part. We ended up calling twice to make a reservation the first time was after 11pm and we got someone from the B team that said they were sold out of there Facebook water park special rooms for $169 a night. We called back in the morning and the woman was awesome got us in on a deal for $159 a night. At check in the staff was awesome again and got into our room early, the hotel and our room looked and smelled very clean. It's got the up north hunting cabin feel going so if mounted dead wildlife is not your thing steer clear! No comforters on the bed, a plus in our eyes, room was in working order with a DVD player so bring some videos from home or find a redbox! Also it seamed that you could hook up games or devices to the TV so bring them if you want. My wife forgot to tell me the code for the wi-fi was on the check in papers so I did not use it but it's there. We will most likely stay again if we find a really good deal, it's not far from us so we could make the water park a day trip. read more

Five stars for convenient location, friendly staff, rustic decor and fairly clean. Zero stars for ability to actually get some sleep in a hotel that is attached to a water park. Kids were slamming doors and running up and down halls. Also, lots of thud noises that sounded like kids were jumping out of bunk beds on the floor above us until after 11:00 pm. The noise started again at 5:30 the next morning. I have to completely agree with an earlier review that says the walls are paper thin---WOW someone made big budget cuts here! I could hear a cell phone ringing on one side of me and then at about midnight I could hear someone playing a guitar or the garage band ap on the other side-it literally sounded like it was in the same room! So, that being said, I will probably not be back for an overnight, but will visit the water park as a day activity. read more

I called today to make a reservation for this evening. They are running a President's Day sale period on the phone I was told that they were completely out of rooms. I said can you please double check the young lady on the phone said we actually do have a cabin with two bunk beds a king size bed a fireplace a fridge and a jacuzzi tub. When we arrived there was a very long line we finally got checked into we went up to our cabin come to find out there were no bunk beds it only slept two people and a king size bed. We called the front desk and said we were told there would be bunk beds. We paid $300 for three children and three adults. The front desk was able to move us to another room with two bunk beds and a queen size bed no fireplace no jacuzzi. We also called the front desk and said this is not what we were told we would receive for this price the sale price for this room on their website is $130. They refuse to give us a refund they refused to give us any sort of compensation I've talked to two people at the front desk now. This is by far been the worst three hour drive and we've only been here for half an hour. I definitely would not recommend ever coming back. read more

This is close to our home GREAT for the under 14 kids. Prob. to small for the older kids. But perfect size to let kids run and play. From most places you can see the entire water park. Food was my only complaint. The food in the park was a little expensive and slow but surprisingly good. The bar which advertised breakfast and dinner specials...not so much. They we slow, prizes high for low quality food. Was expecting more for that type of restaurant. BUT there are tons around the hotel where you can spend that or cheaper for much better. All in all a very good hotel and park for the young teen, to toddler size kids. The hotel itself is clean and fine. Good location right off the express way and surrounded my good food, and some local shopping. read more

Overpriced because it can be. It's really only for families b/c of the water slide stuff. 100% NOT for business travelers but very limited options in these parts. Kitschy outdoorsy stuff is cute and all to match Cabela's next door, but not cute enough to mask the desperately needed update from 1992. I noticed all of the staff is under 25 and their customer service skill definitely shows their age. Not mean, just sort of oblivious to general politeness and the basics of good industry hospitality. Walls are very thin and guests are perpetually very loud but this is where you come to have a good time. Again, it's mainly families with tons of kids around so the loud, rowdy stuff has to be somewhat expected. read more

Ive been standing in a line for 45 mins to check into my room. It is 4:34 pm and my room is not even ready! I dont care if it is a holiday weekend if i pay for my room to be ready at check in time then it should be ready. Now i have 4 screaming kids that are tired from being in the waterpark, and we have no where to go! And guess what, no mention of a discount or an upgrade or anything. Terrible customer service, and terrible managnent.... hire new people! After our stay this weekend we WILL NEVER be back to this place again unless something is done about my waiting..... read more

Staying here right now. I'd say it is an average location. It probably would be better if the splash park was open. But I guess it's been closed for quite some time. But here is my perspective on the hotel. They claim to be a full service hotel. That was in response to my query about free breakfasts, which most places offer now. I have stayed away from Holiday Inns as I've always considered them a cheap hotel. So I was expecting dirty, dingy, smelly, stale, etc. I was surprised that the lobby was clean and not too maintained. Their hunting theme is novel and not overly obnoxious, considering. I was still nervous about the room smelling like smoke, even though it is a non-smoking hotel. You know what I mean. But again, they've done a good job eliminating any odors. The beds were comfy. The towels weren't as thin as some nicer hotels I've stayed in. They have a small indoor pool, workout facility, and even a "business area". The restaurant is where it leaves ALOT to be desired. No signs from the lobby, you have to ask for directions if you've never been before. You have to go upstairs, over a skywalk, and to the splash park/conference area. Their breakfast was either from the menu or a buffet. I am with my son, so thought we'd just get some cereal and continental. There weren't any "fun" cereals, which on travel is the only time we let our kids have sugary cereals....so he had to settle for Raisin Bran, Special K, or Cheerios. The buffet consisted of runny eggs, overcooked bacon, and dannon yogurt, and some fruit cups. $9. I guess that's okay, considering it is a hotel. They did not mention kids eat free on the buffet, so that offset a little disappointment. Also their payment service is not tied into the hotels, and i had left my wallet in my room, so it was another slight inconvenience. I guess overall I'd say this is a decent stop, and if the water park was going, would be a novel place to stop. They need to train their staff on better friendliness & communications, and step up the food service a bit. We may give them a try again. Maybe. read more

Hotel staff was great! Hotel is nice and what we expect from a holiday inn. Hotel pool was very nice clean and warmer water than water park had. Tree grub and pub was ok for breakfast. Kids 12 and under eat free off kids menu. We will be back again read more

Me & my family stayed for two nights. I would probably stay again. The only reason being the close proximity to our house. The women at the front acted like the water park was miles away & they had nothing to do with it. However it is actually connected to the hotel with a convenient crosswalk. Oh did I mention it is same staff & same decor. Back to this peach of a lady working the front desk. She had no clue what time this water park opened. I am guessing she just threw out a time seeing she just missed by oh you know FOUR HRS. Can't complain about the whole staff; some nice people do work there. It just seems to be a lack of communication with workers & management. Once in water park we did enjoy ourselves. read more
