The Innkeeper, Tim, was very friendly and extremely knowledgable about the house, its restoration, and everything in-between. From its 13'7" ceilings to the giant 12' high doors to the hardwood floors it literally felt like stepping back in time. Most of the house had been renovated with a beautiful blend of new and old, giving it a neuveux riche feel. We stayed in the Grand Suite, which was larger than nearly any hotel suite we've ever been in. It had a comfy king size bed, a giant armoire, a small couch and a small table for intimate dining in your room. The attached bathroom was equally as impressive with a giant 6 foot tub and a large walk in shower with two shower heads. We had the house to ourselves and were made to feel at home by the Innkeeper Tim. He made us breakfast in the morning in the kitchen, which was newly renovated with beautiful stainless steel appliances and marble counter tops. Tim made us more food than we could eat (a four course breakfast!) and just put the cherry on the top of our visit. We can't wait to visit again. This hidden gem is a must visit if you're in the Toledo, Ohio area!

While the food, furnishings, and architecture were top notch, a few fundamental items of a hotel/B&B were quite poor: the staff, the heating, and the water pressure. First, the staff gave me an eerie, unpleasant feeling, overall. For example, I was pressured to leave the house while I was waiting for my ride, after I had checked out. I was just in the lobby for about 15 min. Next, during my stay in mid-December, the rooms were cold and the two electric heaters in the room, supplementing the radiators, did not do the trick. Finally, the water pressure in the shower was among the lowest I have ever experienced, ever. If you have ever seen that Seinfeld episode, it was like that. Thus, two stars.

The inn was beautifully and thoughtfully restored by Katie who owns and runs the inn and has a degree in architecture. Katie is wonderful host and cook. She met us on our late arrival (winter storm). Katie was exceptionally thoughtful and accommodating. We had wonderful homemade baked bread and overnight oats for our first breakfast. She built a fire and hosted our in-laws for tea the next morning. The rooms are very comfortable and up to date. We will absolutely stay here again when we return to Maumee. Thank you Katie!

This house was lovingly restored and updated with so many quaint touches that you can't possibly take them all in. Her culinary background shines through in her beautiful breakfast dishes and surprise cookies and cinnamon rolls (if you are lucky). The area was perfect for nature walks and our host had the perfect recommendations for food and drink nearby. Highly recommended for the wonderful stay, lovely company and spot on advice for making the most of our time.

Triple T Western Bed & Breakfast - Fun around the campfire

Triple T Western Bed & Breakfast

We were looking for a place to ride horses near Tiffin, OH (where the girlfriend is from) and we…read morehappened upon the Triple T Bed and Breakfast, which is closer to Findlay, OH. It's about 2.5 hours from Cleveland and would probably be a decent stopover if you're spending a day or two at Cedar Point. To be honest, it's out in the middle of nowhere; but that's also part of its charm. We got out there the Saturday before Labor Day. Matt Theis, one of the owners was out giving a carriage ride to a bride and groom that had just gotten married. We were more than happy to wait out by the beautiful pool until he got back. We also got a chance to walk out towards the stable. They had 4 beautiful and friendly horses, just waiting to be ridden. We said our hellos and looked around and decided to dip our feet. After a few minutes we were greeted by one of the Theis's daughters, who gave us a nice tour around the place. We also found out that we would be the only guests for the night in the main house! We're not anti-social, but it is nice to have the whole place to yourself. We also found out that the reason we had the place to ourselves is that the B&B had only opened in August of last year. Needless to say, they are on the right track. Later that night, after our own charming ride in a pony cart behind a feller named Chester, we decided to head into the county fair (another reason we were out in the country for the weekend). It was the smaller variety of county fair, but with all the usual varieties of mullets, corn dogs and tractor pulls. Ah, always a good time. We retired that night, full of cotton candy and candy apples, to our really nicely decorated and cozy room. Each bedroom at the B&B has it's own bathroom (something that not all B&Bs have), and it was recently redone with some very nice furnishings and hardware. The bed was a comfortable queen size with some pretty quilts. The satellite TV and free wireless internet satisfied the geek in me that usually is hurting to find an outlet out in the country :). The next morning, we woke up and had breakfast at the pre-determined time. The Theis' were up and ready with some delicious fare. I believe their signature breakfast item is the apple fritter french toast. Wow. As Matt said, try it before you put syrup on it, because it really didn't need anything else. Round that out with some hearty bacon, eggs, toast, fresh peaches and black coffee...well, it doesn't get better than that. After breakfast we had also arranged for a trail ride on some of the horses they keep on the farm. Matt saddled the horses in the barn out by the guest house (also available as lodging) and I took "Sonny" and the gf took "Indy" out for a jaunt. They have about a mile or two of trails throughout their woods and Matt took us riding through them. It was pretty calm the whole way, but the thing that sets the Triple T apart from other trail rides, is they allowed us to ride around in the pasture. Sonny wasn't liking the idea of getting above a slow walk, but Indy got up there. Matt even let me switch to his horse and "Cherokee" flew as soon as I sat down in the saddle. That'll hurt tomorrow. All in all, it was a great day/night. The proprietors couldn't have been nicer, the surroundings were beautiful and secluded and the price was right. We got a "fair" special of 75 per night and paid the usual 25 each for the trail ride. However, if we had been in just about any hotel, it would have likely cost the same, being a holiday weekend (and wouldn't have included a trail ride). I would highly suggest you get out to the country for a weekend and try out the Triple T B&B!

More important to you, it's nestled in a beautiful neighborhood about one mile to most elements of the U of M central campus. So you can walk, if you're so inclined, and five to ten minutes in a car gets you to any number of important or interesting places. Parking is on the street, which turned out to be no problem, as there always were plenty of spaces near the entry sidewalk. Perhaps it's helpful to say that the Stone Chalet campus is the site of a former Unitarian church. That's how I remember it, driving/jogging by during student years. Therese remembers it was the site of piano recitals. Anyway, the former "main building" has been converted to an event center (we didn't spend much time there) and the former parsonage converted to guest quarters. Our room was Alice-in-Wonderland themed, spacious and cozy for an autumn visit. Breakfast was ordered via an app, with many choices, including gluten-free options for Therese. If you want a good and even inspiring conversation, seek out the owner Vincent, who can share some fascinating stories about real estate and his efforts to purchase, maintain, and make profitable the Stone Chalet property. We enjoyed our time here, and wish Vincent, Daisy, family and staff, all the best. Thank you, Stone Chalet.
