Bayshore Resort - Weird mismatching bed head boards?

First the positives. Excellent location. Great views of…read moreLake Erie from every room. Convenient parking. Nice (but tiny) shampoo, conditioner and lotion containers in bathroom. Comfortable beds (though high). The two pools and a large spa pool were nice, with many lounge chairs, and extra towels available in the lobby. Now the negatives. - When they say "check-in at 4 pm", they MEAN 4 pm. We arrived at 3:45 and they wouldn't check us in until EXACTLY 4 pm. - Room wasn't perfectly clean - carpet dusty, some dirt around the edges in the bathroom. - We were there three nights. Room was never cleaned nor towels replaced. - Some photos on VRBO showed microwave/small refrigerator and coffee maker. There were none. - No breakfast available. No complimentary coffee. There was a small bar in the lobby with coffee to purchase. - Room air conditioner was noisy. - Automatic night lighting on all room balconies could not be turned off, so we had to have the drapes fully closed to sleep. - Loud music was broadcast all afternoon and evening. We were on second floor and could hear even inside our room. We were told the music was required "for the Tiki Bar". - The room's balcony was screened, but at least twice a day birds got in underneath the balcony side adjoining room walls. After 20 or so minutes the birds got out the same way on their own. - No phone in the room and we had a hard time finding the front desk phone number anyway. Finally just had to go down to the front desk when we needed something.

DO NOT STAY HERE! The pictures are very deceiving. The patio view was completely covered by dirt…read moreand bugs! Between the dirty screen and there being no overhead lighting the room was extremely dark. There were only 2 small desk lamps. The worst part of the stay was there absolutely no hot water! We had two small children and my kids were hysterically crying, unable to warm up after swimming. A nightmare! There's no phone in the room to get ahold of anyone. I called on my cell the following morning and was transferred to a maintenance man. He was maybe the rudest person I've ever dealt with in my entire life. He told me I was lying and refused to give me his name and hung the phone up on me! There are lots of options on the island. Don't let this one be a part of it!

This hotel is part of a property owned by Eastern Michigan State University, and it is in…read moredesperate, very desperate need of a major remodel, inside and out. The rooms are under furnished, but the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was immaculate. One of the elevators struggled to get its doors open on the correct floor. The parking gate process is strange, and is it even necessary? The other deficiency was that all of the double windows in the windows had IGU's with a broken seal. So looking out the window, everything was cloudy. The concierge lounge functioned smoothly. The people are the strongest asset of the hotel, and that is what keeps this from being a one-star review. They are service oriented and responsive. Always a smile, and great suggestions. I cannot state this clearly enough, but they are a cut above. We did not dine on premises.

My husband and I stayed at this Marriott property for 3 nights this week. This hotel markets itself…read moreas a 3.9-star property, but it fell far short of that standard. From the moment we arrived, the hotel had an unpleasant odor and felt dated and poorly maintained. Our first night, we found a beetle crawling on the ceiling, wall, and counter. To the hotel's credit, they moved us to another room. Unfortunately, the replacement room had old, dried blood on the comforter, which was completely unacceptable. And the glass shower door opened 6 times, sliding back and forth during our showers. The customer service only made matters worse. During our stay, t the front desk manager, Kyle, appeared to genuinely try to help; however, our interaction with the Assistant General Manager, Brandy, was disappointing and the worst we've ever experienced in 30 years of traveling. She was dismissive, rude, and had an unprofessional attitude. Her solution was to offer complimentary parking and take off food charges, which was subpar at best. They really don't need to have a restaurant in there, and the brunch was canceled. That might have been meaningful if the hotel hadn't already failed to disclose the $34 daily parking fee before our stay. Considering this hotel is in a rural area with an open parking lot, charging $34 per day for a rural area is a joke and then they gave us coupons to the disgusting restaurant. Between the cleanliness issues, the insect in our room, the blood-stained bedding, the unexpected parking fee, and the poor customer service, this stay did not come close to the quality we expect from a Marriott property. I would not stay here again and cannot recommend it.

We got…read morea jacuzzi room and it came with what they said was a queen sized bed but it was more like a full sized bed. The bed was incredibly hard and we had to ask for extra pillows. The jacuzzi in the room was actually very nice and was separate from the bathtub in the bathroom. The jets were a bit loud When we checked in, we were told the Coffee was 24 hours a day but on Friday morning it wasn't and my friend had to wait an hour and a half for hot coffee. They also offer what they call a continental breakfast on weekdays, which was bagels, waffles you pop in the toaster, oranges, yogurt, bags of instant oatmeal and juice. I guess it's better than nothing, but we decided to get breakfast elsewhere. The cost to rent a golf cart was quite expensive (maybe it's that way on the whole island). $79 for a full day and $97 for overnight. If this was the only option I might come here again. Otherwise, nah!!

Just a stagnant tub of nothing taking up space. To make it a real horror show, these creepy-crawly bugs be parading around the pad like they own the block. dig it, it was a total drag. Then I cruise on down to breakfast, and they be serving expired yogurt and straight-up moldy, fuzzy oranges. That ain't just bad vibes, that's a biological hit! Serving up that sour funk is downright cold blooded. So I take my beef to the cats working the front desk an I be expecting them to handle bidness. But these jive-turkeys didn't give a solid damn! They just stood there looking spaced out completely unfazed and lacking any kind of soul. They were totally checked out. didn't care one bit about the scam they be running. This whole joint is a low-down, trick-ass operation. Do yourself a solid and keep on stepping past this heavy trip!
