I heard they had the rare but delicious guava donut and it's been on my must-try list for months! Sunday was the day! I got up early for a walk in a park, enjoyed an espresso and the trekked up here for a donut! Everything is made fresh daily and they have a decent assortment. Selling out is not unusual from what I hear. They are not open late. I didn't see the guava donut in the case and I was crestfallen. I arrived at 4:50 this morning as soon as it turned 5am I tried to open the door and it wasn't till 5:05 someone came to open the door when their hours state 5 am online and on store door. I usually visit their other store which is amazing I thought that would have carried over to this store and I was painfully disappointed. I have been going here approximately 3-4 times a week for a few years. The reason I give this business 2 stars is because of the MAJOR ATTITUDE from the woman who owns it. Don't get me wrong, the donuts are excellent, coffee is usually really good & the breakfast sandwich decent, considering the price. It's not NYC great, but decent. I have been dealing with the owner's poor attitude too long. Extremely nasty, NOT COMPASSIONATE IN THE LEAST, saw me struggling to open the door coming or leaving with a walker trying to navigate the door, EVERY TIME. Obviously discrimination against anyone who is fighting hard everyday with a disease. I've given way too much money AND RESPECT to this business after years. I needed breakfast to go so stopped by after seeing the reviews. I ordered a ham, egg, and cheese on an Asiago bagel and a couple donuts with a fritter. The good: Service was fine and the donuts and bagel were very fresh and soft. The not-so-good: As someone else commented, the donuts are VERY sweet. I ordered a strawberry frosted, a blueberry cake, and an apple fritter. While they were seriously fresh, I had a hard time getting the flavors out of them because the sugar and sweetness smothered any flavor there. The breakfast sandwich was tasty, but I felt there was way too much salt between the ham and the bagel, not usually an issue I have. I was there for the grand opening & 2 big thumbs up. I had the Jalapeño & Cheese Pig in a Blanket. These stuffed wonders are also known as Kolache at least when I tried them in Austin. Kolache originated as a semi sweet dessert from Central Europe and later a breakfast item in South London but in the States it seems to lean toward savory. The roll was so soft and fresh. And the sausage/hotdog inside was smokey and flavorful. Not very spicy either if you choose the jalapeño one but they had a plain sausage as well for the spice adverse. I also tried a baklava donut since it's was their grand opening. Freshly made, a hint of honey flavor and some lovely phyllo flakes on top. Got a few donuts to go for family as well. We tried the doughnuts here. They had a large selection and were very good. The employees were very welcoming and even gave us some extra doughnuts as it was close to closing time and they had some leftover. The price was very reasonable. I wasn't aware they also serve breakfast sandwiches and the prices looked good also. Will return to try a sandwich and get some more doughnuts. Overall it was a very positive experience. Let people cut in line multiple times to "look at the donut case" then just went ahead and took their order. They also did not have what we wanted after this happened because 2 of the 3 that they allowed to cut in line grabbed the doughnuts we wanted to purchase after driving 20 minutes one way to get there. The only issue we had was when one member of our party found that one of the pastries they'd ordered (an apple fritter) wasn't in the box. Upon returning to collect the aforementioned fritter, the staff argued about the mixup with one staff member insisting that they had filled the order correctly and the other, not so sure.
