Anyway, I had the cupid's tuxedo (raspberry black & white mocha: a February special), and even though the special menu is going to change tomorrow lol (March 1st) I'd say it's safe to say that the baristas here nail the proportion of flavorings with brew in general. Not overly syrupy; it was such a well-balanced drink taste-wise! As for treats, the orange tea cake was flavorful and tender! Recommend even if you're not abiding to a gluten-free or vegan diet. The pepperoni pizza pie could use some adjustments; very skimpy on the red sauce (had to take three bites in to notice that the hand pie wasn't just downright dry) but the red sauce was super delicious. Needs more of it! Friendly and chill baristas. Coffee shop is located in Downtown Roseville; street parking or could use the nearby parking garage.

Amazeballz Spot For A Birthday Feast!!…read more SITREP My sweet awesome bestie Bambi was hosting her 50th birthday party with the good people of Mystique Dining and what a joyous occasion of celebration and reminiscing we had! THE SETUP Such a crazy fun environment that propels you back in time to some Medieval Castle-style Banquet Room! (Not quite - what was it with horses and Knight? "Knight's Table"? Not quite THAT elaborate, but still so.much.fun!) The guest list was mixed: there were 12 people in Bambi's party crew, and then there were two (2) smaller parties of six (6) each so there was total of 24(?) people (there were additions/subtractions of peeps leaving/coming off & on throughout the evening within each group). There was of course, the Banquet dinner! And then there was an aftershow (during dessert) with a bona fide Las Vegas magician who apparently flies in every Thursday to do this midweek show. THE FOOD! The courses were quite elaborate! Ahead of time, Bambi got our preferences for the main course (pretty much the same for the side dishes for each main course): Filet Mignon, Seasoned Chicken, Fish(?), and a Vegetable Lasagna. The dessert was a cheesecake! THE LOWDOWN Excellent experience! And it was all about the experience! You can go to a restaurant any ole time, but to celebrate a regal birthday with friends and loved ones takes it a notch up, sometimes the place itself deserves to be a notch up!

From the outside it doesn't look like a restaurant- but inside it is Beautifully decorated in an Elegant, dark Victorian theme! Once the chamber doors open, you are lead by the Hostess to your seat at a large dining table with approximately 20 guests. The 5-course dinner is Exquisite and carefully prepared and includes an appetizer, seasonal salad (ours had Summer strawberries), a palet cleanser Sorbet, your entree/veggies, then dessert. There are several entrees to choose from. We had prime rib was 2" thick; cooked to Perfection! Our Hostess was incredible - she was very attentive and made everyone feel special. After our dessert was cleared, a Magician appeared and the Magic show began! The dinner and show takes about 3 hours. We were very impressed. It's a great venue for celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, date night or 1st date! Mystique definitely has the WOW factor! We are going back in October for their "Manefestations" Dinner. Check out their website for pics and better description of All that they offer!

As a kid my father was a PBA bowler and we would travel up and down the west coast hitting up all…read morethe bowling alleys along the way-so since I was a kid who had little interest in bowling,I spent a crazy amount of time in the arcades at these bowling alleys. So began the lifelong love affair with pinball machines. You can imagine my happiness when I stumbled upon this bar/gaming room with the funny German sounding name when I realized it was a glorified pinball arcade room that also served beer. This place is straight amazing-50+ of the greatest pinball machines are available to play. They do use the "game-card" system to pay for these games, which can make playing these games way too easy-games tend to cost about $1 a game in game credits to play, which is far more than I paid when I was an 8 year old kid but then again, that was 45 years ago. They have a pretty solid beer selection-beers tend to go for anywhere between $7-$8 a beer-not too bad in my opinion.Though they do offer a pretty unique item called "Das Boot" which is a pretty large boot that cost $40 and comes with a fill up at time of purchase and 20% off on future fill ups-though not sure what the original cost of a fill up is exactly. One massive upgrade I've learned in the pinball world is nowadays you can download an app by Stern Inc,the majority manufacturer of most of the popular pinball machines and you can register your pinball play and it will keep tabs of everywhere u play and all the scores u achieved on the various pinball machines-I really enjoyed this feature-I only wish they had this when I was in my prime of pinball play when I was a youth. This place doesn't have the best hours but I'm sure there is a reason for these hours-M-F the hours are 5p-10p and on weekends they open at 12p... In closing-If you ever find yourself in the Rocklin area and you get a yearning to try out your pinball machine skills-I couldn't recommend this spot any higher as they are a very unique spot offering a truly awesome experience-a trip down memory lane for some and a whole new world for the younger generation-You should get out there and have some fun. PS-I failed to mention this place is very family friendly-on my particular visit the place was flooded with kids from elementary to high school age honing their pinball machine skills and enjoying every minute of it.

Games are very clean and in excellent playing condition. There's also Stern leaderboards visible along with their own leaderboards for solid state (older) games, which I've never seen anywhere else. The whole space is clean and welcoming. It's loud, but that's because it's a pinball spot. The staff are super friendly and provide great service. The mac n' cheese bites I had last week were freshly prepared (from scratch), cooked to order, piping hot, and totally delicious--and also under $10. The beers and ciders on tap are all mostly from small, local makers and under $10/pint. They also have plenty of NA drink options. If you're a pinball person, I dare you to find a more accommodating spot for playing and vibing out. If you're not a pinball person, this is a great place to fall in love with the game.

Wine Pickup Day!!…read more SITREP You know what I love about Wine-Pickup-Day? There's a free wine-tasting on the new varietals that have come in since you were last there! THE SETUP Actually became a fan of this wine brand when visiting their main site - Crystal Basin Cellars - up in Camino, CA. The Owens-owners are fun peeps and hosted a big group of us, taking us on a tour through their local vineyards. Have been up several times since over the last several years. Mr. Owen has regaled me with his debonair styles as he has had me enjoy a couple of bottling sessions there in Camino. SO.MUCH.FUN! THE REDNECK CLUB! (YEEE-YAWWW!) For a (relatively) poor working-schmuck like me, the Owens kindly have different tiers of Wine-Club membership, and luckily for me, the "bottom-of-the-barrel" (ME implicitly *wink!*) club is the "Red Neck Club!" - three (3) bottles of wine every 3 months! *Schawinnng!* That one was made for me! CRYSTAL BASIN STATION In the interim, Crystal Basin Cellars has expanded - like Caesar marching across ancient-Europa - their empire to include Folsom, CA! *Yeeee-Hawwww!* This means that when I'm impeded by travel-circumstances, I don't have to alway go up HWY 50 to Camino to get my wine! Mrs. Owen has kindly been "stationed" (exiled? Haha!) @ Crystal Basin Station with the same deLISH wine we would also find in their Cellars-location. And this was a special trip since I was almost a year behind on collecting my wines, so instead of 3 and I was able to collect my accumulated nine (9) wines! NEW VARIETALS! And you know what that means, right? NEW WINES!! So along with the usual wonderful wines - Sauvignon Blanc & Rose - Mrs. Owen had me try their newer Pommie (Pomegranate Sparkling) and the Fiano (a deeper rose varietal). Both were fruity, the Pommie being sharp & refreshing, and the Fiano a delightfully smooth to the tongue taste-treat. THE LOWDOWN Definitely worth the trip to Folsom to grab some wines at Crystal Basin STATION. [And don't forget to visit some time the main facility Crystal Basin CELLARS up in Camino!

We had the turkey and brie sandwich which was absolutely decadent and delicious. It was accompanied by an outstanding mac and couscous salad and spectacular house made pickles. We also had a (SLBC) draft beer off the solid beverage menu. Couldn't resist grabbing a peanut butter blondie for dessert later. The entire place has a cute, farm-style feel--very country, open, and spacious. They offer outdoor seating as well as beautiful long, communal wooden tables inside. There's a small open kitchen where you can watch the staff preparing the food, and the restrooms were clean and surprisingly spacious. They also carry local donuts, which were absolutely worth trying. We had the apple fritter, which was soft and delicious with the perfect crispy exterior. Our favorite was the almond bar--it was delicate, flaky, buttery, and so good. We also tried a cookie that was equally delicious. For lunch, we ordered the turkey sandwich, which was piled high with turkey and crisp vegetables, the bourbon bacon jam toast with melted brie, and a classic BLT. We kept it simple with water, which is available as self-serve. It was a beautiful day to enjoy the outdoor space. They have cornhole and bocce available to play around the property, adding to the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The staff was incredibly kind, and they also have a small market area featuring drinks, local products, and other items for sale. The entire place is quaint and adorable, both inside and out. I highly recommend Blue Barn Provisions for lunch or brunch if you're in the Pollock Pines area! :) dog friendly.
