Mystique is a 'dinner and a show' venue in old town Folsom on Sutter Street. Making reservations online was easy and you get to pre-select your meal online when you make those reservations. They also run gift certificate specials so be sure to look for those. Pricing may seem high at first. BUT take into consideration what the evening will entail. This is a first class dinner AND a first rate show for your evening. The seating is very limited and they book up quickly. The interior dining venue is elaborate and 'magical' in design and decor. Perfect for a magic show! Our hostesses were friendly, humorous and specific about how the evening would proceed. All of our fellow guests were super friendly, talkative and all of us had a great time and conversations throughout the night. The 5 course dinner (4 plus a palate cleanser) was excellent and a tremendous amount of food was served. Most people took home food for later. I was rather surprised as how large the portions were. And, it was all well prepared and very good. The entire room of diners were all quite impressed. Now, on to the show.... After our meals were completed, and dishes cleared, our magician host came out and the show began. Experiencing a magician performing up close is something to behold. He was excellent with his talents, and had everyone in stitches with the comedy. This is an audience participation event which is fantastic. Most everyone played a part in one or more of his feats of illusion and mind bending abilities. My partner and I woke up the next morning still attempting to figure out how he was able to do them. I highly recommend getting online and consider an evening here. And dress to impress. This is a fine dining experience.

I wasn't exactly thrilled with the idea at first, but since it was his birthday, we made his wish come true! Ordering tickets on the website was easy and straightforward. The dining room is intimate, with one large communal table and two high-top tables for couples. We arrived about five minutes before doors opened. I was honestly surprised by how cool the decor was. It's a little cheesy, but it totally works. The lighting, ambiance, and overall vibe pull you in and make it fun. You can't help but enjoy it. Our two hosts were personable and professional. They served all the dishes and explained the rules for the evening. Once everyone finished eating, the magic show began. The food was super delicious and I was not expecting to like it as much as I did. The prime rib is absolutely the way to go. It was soooo good, and the sides were cooked and seasoned perfectly. They also offer chicken and pasta. I saw a few people order those, and they didn't look as appealing, but the prime rib definitely delivered. The cheesecake for dessert was amazing and perfect ending to the meal ! It's definitely on the pricier side, but the food and overall experience made it worth it. The magic show itself was a little "meh" ....not super mind-blowing, but the magician was kind and entertaining. He and the hosts made a special effort to wish my husband a happy birthday and even included him in part of the show, which made the night extra special. We loved the evening. I'm already planning to come back in October for their Halloween-themed dinner show!

You can imagine my happiness when I stumbled upon this bar/gaming room with the funny German sounding name when I realized it was a glorified pinball arcade room that also served beer. This place is straight amazing-50+ of the greatest pinball machines are available to play. They do use the "game-card" system to pay for these games, which can make playing these games way too easy-games tend to cost about $1 a game in game credits to play, which is far more than I paid when I was an 8 year old kid but then again, that was 45 years ago. They have a pretty solid beer selection-beers tend to go for anywhere between $7-$8 a beer-not too bad in my opinion.Though they do offer a pretty unique item called "Das Boot" which is a pretty large boot that cost $40 and comes with a fill up at time of purchase and 20% off on future fill ups-though not sure what the original cost of a fill up is exactly. One massive upgrade I've learned in the pinball world is nowadays you can download an app by Stern Inc,the majority manufacturer of most of the popular pinball machines and you can register your pinball play and it will keep tabs of everywhere u play and all the scores u achieved on the various pinball machines-I really enjoyed this feature-I only wish they had this when I was in my prime of pinball play when I was a youth. This place doesn't have the best hours but I'm sure there is a reason for these hours-M-F the hours are 5p-10p and on weekends they open at 12p... In closing-If you ever find yourself in the Rocklin area and you get a yearning to try out your pinball machine skills-I couldn't recommend this spot any higher as they are a very unique spot offering a truly awesome experience-a trip down memory lane for some and a whole new world for the younger generation-You should get out there and have some fun. PS-I failed to mention this place is very family friendly-on my particular visit the place was flooded with kids from elementary to high school age honing their pinball machine skills and enjoying every minute of it.

Games are very clean and in excellent playing condition. There's also Stern leaderboards visible along with their own leaderboards for solid state (older) games, which I've never seen anywhere else. The whole space is clean and welcoming. It's loud, but that's because it's a pinball spot. The staff are super friendly and provide great service. The mac n' cheese bites I had last week were freshly prepared (from scratch), cooked to order, piping hot, and totally delicious--and also under $10. The beers and ciders on tap are all mostly from small, local makers and under $10/pint. They also have plenty of NA drink options. If you're a pinball person, I dare you to find a more accommodating spot for playing and vibing out. If you're not a pinball person, this is a great place to fall in love with the game.

Wine Pickup Day!!…read more SITREP You know what I love about Wine-Pickup-Day? There's a free wine-tasting on the new varietals that have come in since you were last there! THE SETUP Actually became a fan of this wine brand when visiting their main site - Crystal Basin Cellars - up in Camino, CA. The Owens-owners are fun peeps and hosted a big group of us, taking us on a tour through their local vineyards. Have been up several times since over the last several years. Mr. Owen has regaled me with his debonair styles as he has had me enjoy a couple of bottling sessions there in Camino. SO.MUCH.FUN! THE REDNECK CLUB! (YEEE-YAWWW!) For a (relatively) poor working-schmuck like me, the Owens kindly have different tiers of Wine-Club membership, and luckily for me, the "bottom-of-the-barrel" (ME implicitly *wink!*) club is the "Red Neck Club!" - three (3) bottles of wine every 3 months! *Schawinnng!* That one was made for me! CRYSTAL BASIN STATION In the interim, Crystal Basin Cellars has expanded - like Caesar marching across ancient-Europa - their empire to include Folsom, CA! *Yeeee-Hawwww!* This means that when I'm impeded by travel-circumstances, I don't have to alway go up HWY 50 to Camino to get my wine! Mrs. Owen has kindly been "stationed" (exiled? Haha!) @ Crystal Basin Station with the same deLISH wine we would also find in their Cellars-location. And this was a special trip since I was almost a year behind on collecting my wines, so instead of 3 and I was able to collect my accumulated nine (9) wines! NEW VARIETALS! And you know what that means, right? NEW WINES!! So along with the usual wonderful wines - Sauvignon Blanc & Rose - Mrs. Owen had me try their newer Pommie (Pomegranate Sparkling) and the Fiano (a deeper rose varietal). Both were fruity, the Pommie being sharp & refreshing, and the Fiano a delightfully smooth to the tongue taste-treat. THE LOWDOWN Definitely worth the trip to Folsom to grab some wines at Crystal Basin STATION. [And don't forget to visit some time the main facility Crystal Basin CELLARS up in Camino!

Everything that my friends and I ordered was VERY GOOD. We all ordered a different type of fry on the side and they were all VERY GOOD. This is the kind of place where every thing on the menu is VERY GOOD. It is definitely not the healthiest place you could eat at because their focus is on the food being VERY GOOD. Nevertheless, even the healthy options like the mushroom ciabatta sandwich and the zucchini fries were VERY GOOD. Toasted to a perfect crisp, buttery, freaking delicious. The restaurant itself has a local charm. The ambiance is dictated by what the locals need, not the city people coming in to rent a lake house for the weekend (myself, my boyfriend, and his tech friends). It's refreshing to be somewhere that feels more like a genuine small town tavern than a flashy restaurant that covers itself in flowers and sculptures to be a photoshoot op for you and your girlfriends. (I have done this, no shame, so fun, see son and garden review). I wish I could go here over and over and try every menu. seriously, SO GOOD.

Service was quick and I had a frosty Knee Deep Breaking Bud draft delivered stat! Extensive food and drink menu. Burgers were cooked med as requested quality meat,so tall with all the fixings a fork was required & probably half a ripe avo made this a full meal. Salad was a good starter with arugula & a mixture of course cut veggies with extra blue cheese dressing brought pronto. Fourth visit & only suggestion would be to upgrade the heavy worm, somewhat greasy floor (especially in the entrance). Popular place with live music & some really good house made potato chips , french dip, mushroom & regular cheese burges consumed by my fellow golfer's at the table. Will be back.
