It was a beautiful day, the river floated us alongside lovely trees and interesting rock formations, past some swifter waters, many channels, but nothing hair-raising, which was just right for us. Greg is knowledgeable and gave us an interesting picture of the river as a changing living things, which he knows as hunter, fishing guide and raft captain. He loves the river and had lots of good stories and was happy to stay quiet when we just wanted to listen. We didn't get wet, but we did wish we had worn our long underwear and had brought some extra layers as the wind on the river was strong in places. We look forward to another float int he future.

The water and the scenery were absolutely beautiful, but your feet do get wet so I recommend bringing water shoes. When you get in the boat initially you do have to wade into the water, so water shoes and rolled up pants definitely make the rest of the ride more enjoyable. Would definitely go again!

She took us to a tucked away swimming hole with a waterfall to play in. We saw three herds of cow elk, and acutally had to pull off to a beach to let them wade across in front of us. The river and weather were beautiful with a perfect blue sky to top it off. After the run, we stopped at her cafe up the street for dinner, which was also great. Not only was to tour and food wonderful, the staff were all very accomodating. The best customer service, which suites the small town:) We missed our initial kayak time because of road construction on our way from the Hoh campground. No big deal, they said, because they were able to put us on the afternoon tour instead. After the ride, it was getting close to the grill at the cafe to close. So, they called the cook to let us know we were on our way, and they stayed open a bit longer so we could have a hot meal. Next time, we plan to do the lower half of the river. And, hopefully, get in on the day run because there is usually more wildlife at that time.

Originally booked the 130pm half day sea kayaking tour online. Received a call the next day saying…read morethe 130pm tour was already full for the next few days (not sure why it let me book online then). But luckily I was able to be flexible and switch to the morning tour (they gave me a day's notice). The staff on the phone said it would be much less windy anyway...which definitely turned out to be true and I was so glad for it bc it would've been chilly otherwise! They're doing great on the Covid safety measures as much as possible. Instead of parking at the office and riding a bus to the bay, they just have you either follow the guide in his vehicle with the kayaks or give you an address/coordinates for your gps. It was easy to keep up with our guide. Everyone wore masks until we got into our own individual kayaks. Very easy to practice social distancing in this setting! The office was very easy to find, right off the highway and even has a winery right next door (and was highly recommended by the host at my inn). Plenty of parking everywhere we went. After a brief safety talk and bit of equipment orientation, we launched from a rocky beach in Freshwater Bay and went out into the Strait of San Juan de Fuca. It was absolutely gorgeous weather - sunny and calm and a perfect temperature. The water was insanely clear! We saw jellyfish and kelp crabs and all manner of birds! We even sampled a little bit of the kelp haha! Our guide, Chris, was so knowledgeable and he made the tour interesting and really fun! There's even a little cave you can swoop through if you have one of the smaller kayaks! I highly recommend you bring sturdy water shoes and waterproof camera!

Shane is a top-notch fishing guide and gave us a MEMORABLE Sol Duc River trip end of June several…read moreyears ago. We met him before dawn around 3am and followed him to the spot where we loaded ourselves into the raft in pitch black darkness (this is an ultimate trust factor here mind you) into the river before the sun came up. Shane oared us himself through the river minus the areas with rapids where we just floated through and took us along all the special spots. Bait and fishing lines are all prepared by Shane ahead of time which made the process effortless and carefree. I caught a small Chinook this day with a spinner at the very end of our trip. Trip ended around noon. We went home with our heart cups filled with adventure. Definitely WORTH IT! Will post up some pics later.

He outfitted us with everything we would need including a banana to snack on! I felt completely safe the entire time even though I'd been nervous going into it and my boyfriend still felt like he'd had an adventure. We're both from the prairies so seeing sea stars, seals, crab, eagles, and even boats was pretty exciting for us. Excellent fun and we plan to do it again!

My mom and I were not great at using the oars but Allen was patient and gave us tips to help us! He was entertaining and taught us how to use kelp as a horn! We saw lots of wildlife including some cute seals that we got really close to!
