She took us to a tucked away swimming hole with a waterfall to play in. We saw three herds of cow elk, and acutally had to pull off to a beach to let them wade across in front of us. The river and weather were beautiful with a perfect blue sky to top it off. After the run, we stopped at her cafe up the street for dinner, which was also great. Not only was to tour and food wonderful, the staff were all very accomodating. The best customer service, which suites the small town:) We missed our initial kayak time because of road construction on our way from the Hoh campground. No big deal, they said, because they were able to put us on the afternoon tour instead. After the ride, it was getting close to the grill at the cafe to close. So, they called the cook to let us know we were on our way, and they stayed open a bit longer so we could have a hot meal. Next time, we plan to do the lower half of the river. And, hopefully, get in on the day run because there is usually more wildlife at that time.

He outfitted us with everything we would need including a banana to snack on! I felt completely safe the entire time even though I'd been nervous going into it and my boyfriend still felt like he'd had an adventure. We're both from the prairies so seeing sea stars, seals, crab, eagles, and even boats was pretty exciting for us. Excellent fun and we plan to do it again!

It was a beautiful day, the river floated us alongside lovely trees and interesting rock formations, past some swifter waters, many channels, but nothing hair-raising, which was just right for us. Greg is knowledgeable and gave us an interesting picture of the river as a changing living things, which he knows as hunter, fishing guide and raft captain. He loves the river and had lots of good stories and was happy to stay quiet when we just wanted to listen. We didn't get wet, but we did wish we had worn our long underwear and had brought some extra layers as the wind on the river was strong in places. We look forward to another float int he future.

The clear water and the greenery that surrounds it makes it a very picturesque place. It wasn't crowded unlike at Hurricane Ridge. You get a real sense of peace hanging out by the water. The sparkles so purely in the sunlight, and it is as clear as glass. You can look the bottom of the lake pretty easily as long as the light reaches the depths, even though it's super deep. Best of all, there are no biting insects to harass you when you're enjoying yourself. I saw a mother duck and some ducklings paddling around on the lake, super cute. Be sure to check out Marymere Falls nearby. It's a short hike (under 2 miles) with a very picturesque waterfall at the end of it.

Received a call the next day saying…read morethe 130pm tour was already full for the next few days (not sure why it let me book online then). But luckily I was able to be flexible and switch to the morning tour (they gave me a day's notice). The staff on the phone said it would be much less windy anyway...which definitely turned out to be true and I was so glad for it bc it would've been chilly otherwise! They're doing great on the Covid safety measures as much as possible. Instead of parking at the office and riding a bus to the bay, they just have you either follow the guide in his vehicle with the kayaks or give you an address/coordinates for your gps. It was easy to keep up with our guide. Everyone wore masks until we got into our own individual kayaks. Very easy to practice social distancing in this setting! The office was very easy to find, right off the highway and even has a winery right next door (and was highly recommended by the host at my inn). Plenty of parking everywhere we went. After a brief safety talk and bit of equipment orientation, we launched from a rocky beach in Freshwater Bay and went out into the Strait of San Juan de Fuca. It was absolutely gorgeous weather - sunny and calm and a perfect temperature. The water was insanely clear! We saw jellyfish and kelp crabs and all manner of birds! We even sampled a little bit of the kelp haha! Our guide, Chris, was so knowledgeable and he made the tour interesting and really fun! There's even a little cave you can swoop through if you have one of the smaller kayaks! I highly recommend you bring sturdy water shoes and waterproof camera!

We did an afternoon rafting trip with Neil in late a July 2021 and it was fantastic! I'd recommend…read morethis over going into the park, although of course you can easily do both (I'd recommend the park in the morning, arrive early to get parking, then enjoy the rafting in the afternoon when it's warmer). I learned a ton from Neil about the area and the River in particular, in which he's worked for decades. Sometimes he sees big wildlife like elk and bears. He pointed out some raptors to us. You park at Peak 6 outdoor store and meet Neil there. He drives up with the raft attached to his can and takes up up the road to a boat launch, then down the River about 9 miles, then back to Peak 6 in the van. You may get splashed but you won't get soaked, so you can bring a phone in a pocket. Definitely sunscreen up. Wear a hat that will stay on your head with a bit of a breeze. Bring some water because you'll be out for a couple of hours. The rapids are class 2, so not intense, and it's very relaxing and requires nothing of passengers. You'll have to step in the River for a few feet getting in and out, so wear shoes you can get a bit wet. Signing up can be a bit disorganized, Neil explained that's because he runs the business and is out on the water and internet is spotty in the area, but plan in advance and set it up and it will happen.

Called in morning of on Sunday and was glad there was still room for bookings. Turned out we were 2 of only 3 on the tour that evening, and Austin happened to be our guide. Because of unpredictable winds we went up the harbour instead of out to open waters, which was a little disappointing to me but ended up being fantastic, with lots of historic/fun facts about Victoria and sightings of a bunch of harbour seals. The 2-hour tour was just right for getting to the Selkirk Trestle and back, and 7-9pm was still the perfect amount of light in mid-August. 100% recommend and looking for a time to come back ourselves!
